What a plain press does. Arrows show who gets the spell: the first match wins.
Shift
Your chosen lower rank. Gold S on the keycap.
Alt
Cast on yourself. Green A on the keycap.
Ctrl
A second job: melee instead of wand, or set a focus. Blue C.
Solid line: named in Blizzard's own Forever posts.
Dashed line: from Forever client data or player reports.
Characters used. The macro editor stops at 255.

Bind a macro in a minute

  1. Type /macro while out of combat.
  2. Pick the tab with your priest's name so the macro stays on this character.
  3. Click New, type the short name shown on the card, and pick the red question-mark icon.
  4. Click Copy on the card, paste into the big box, and click Save.
  5. Drag the macro onto an action bar and bind that slot in Options > Keybindings.
  6. Test it out of combat with every modifier listed on the card.

Before you rely on a key. These macros are checked against Blizzard's Forever posts and the Forever client's own UI code, but none has been run in the game yet. Test each one out of combat first.

Your everyday keys. Most follow one rule: the ally under your mouse first, then your friendly target, then you. Keys with an Alt row cast on you while you hold Alt.

  • Uses your selected target only. Hovering a unit frame does not change it.
  • Targeting yourself counts as friendly and picks Binding Heal. Clear your target to get the self Flash Heal.
  • If Binding Heal fails on range or line of sight, it does not fall back to Flash Heal.
  • Forever's Binding Heal has no cooldown, a 1.5 sec cast, and is tuned to match Flash Heal even when you are not hurt.
  • Binding Heal is a 16-point Holy talent: level 25, or 20 with the Talented perk. Flash Heal is level 20.

TestTarget a living ally and press once. Clear your target and press again; you should Flash Heal yourself.

Downranking

2 macros

Forever keeps spell ranks, with a catch: ranks far below your level get less bonus healing and a lower chance to trigger talents. Use low ranks on purpose, not by habit.

Pick your ranks

  1. Train the rank, then read its mana cost and heal size in your spellbook with your normal gear on.
  2. Compare healing that actually lands against mana spent. Overhealing is wasted mana.
  3. Keep your biggest heal on a plain press for dangerous damage. Drop to a lower rank only when you know it is enough.
  4. If you rely on talent procs, test them on the low rank too. Forever lowers the trigger chance on old ranks.
  5. Check again after leveling, new gear, a respec or a beta patch.

Talents and Legacy

Talents start at 10, one point a level, 51 by level 60. Forever's Legacy perks can add points early, so each build says what it assumes. Points read Discipline / Holy / Shadow.

Legacy picks for a priest

Legacy is Forever's account-wide progression: you earn points from challenges, and each character spends them on perks. For a priest leveling in the beta, buy them in this order.

  1. Well RestedRested XP builds faster and caps higher. Buy it first: Talented needs it.5 points
  2. TalentedTalents start at 5 instead of 10, so you have 26 points at 30: enough for Penance and Spirit Tap.5 points
  3. Thrill of AdventureOutdoor killing blows give back health and mana. Great for questing; nothing in dungeons.5 points
  4. Field MedicineA shorter Recently Bandaged outside dungeons, so you bandage more and drink less.1 point
  5. The Quick and the DeadFaster corpse runs and free buffs after a rez. Swap it in for group play.2 points
  6. Reagent EconomyNo vendor reagents for class spells, handy once you have prayer buffs at 48. Needs 10 points in Resourcefulness first.1 point

The beta handed out 16 Legacy points on October 8: Well Rested 5, Talented 5, Thrill of Adventure 5 and Field Medicine 1 uses all 16. Launch points, prerequisites and reset costs aren't confirmed, so check the Legacy panel before you spend.

Leveling and dungeons

Where to quest and which dungeons to run as you level. Levels 1 to 30 are playable in the beta; above 30 is the Classic route plus what Blizzard has announced, so treat it as a plan, not a promise.

Horde route, 1 to 60

Finish your starting zone first, then follow the zones for your level. Dungeons fit where they are listed.

Is there a Horde Wintersaber?

Not confirmed. No source shows a Desolace raptor grind in Forever. The Horde counterpart players remember is the Venomhide Ravasaur from Un'Goro Crater, which arrived in Wrath of the Lich King. Forever's database lists the mount and its faction, but not how to get them.

Training and gold

Where to train, what each level brings, and what can wait so you have gold for your mount. Every level with something new is listed, from 1 to 60.

Horde priest trainers

  • OrgrimmarUr'kyo, X'yera and Zayus, Valley of Spirits
  • UndercityAelthalyste, Father Lankester and Father Lazarus, War Quarter
  • Thunder BluffFather Cobb, Malakai Cross and Miles Welsh, Pools of Vision, under Spirit Rise
  • DurotarKen'jai and Tai'jin, Valley of Trials; Razor Hill
  • Tirisfal GladesDark Cleric Duesten and Dark Cleric Beryl, Deathknell church; upstairs in the Brill inn

Ranks you can skip

  • Always keep your best efficient heal, emergency heal, Shield, Renew, buffs, dispels and Resurrection.
  • Utility you won't use can wait: Mind Soothe and Mind Vision, plus Mana Burn and Mind Control outside PvP.
  • Don't skip your leveling damage spells just because you have a wand.
  • Forever cuts the bonus on very low ranks. Compare heal size, mana and overheal before you keep an old rank on a bar.
  • October 8 changed Smite, Lesser Heal and Heal scaling, so Era downranking tables are out of date.
  • City trainers reset talents and Legacy perks. Beta resets have been cheap; launch costs aren't confirmed.

Healing in groups

How a priest keeps a five-player group alive: what to dispel first, how to set up party frames, and habits that prevent wipes.

Dispel in this order

  1. Control on the healer or tank first, like Wailing Caverns sleeps. A dying player still comes first.
  2. Then dangerous magic damage or healing reduction.
  3. Then roots and slows on anyone who has to move.
  4. Diseases before they stack, like Ghoul Plague in Ruins of Lordaeron. Cure Disease comes at 14.
  5. Enemy buffs last, like the Skeletal Mages' Frost Armor, and only with mana to spare.
  6. Priests can't remove poisons or curses. Ask a druid, shaman or mage.

Set up your party frames

  1. Press Esc, open Edit Mode and select Party Frames. Turn on Use Raid-Style Party Frames.
  2. Move them near the middle of your screen, big enough to read debuff icons, and save.
  3. In the frame settings, turn on Display Class Colors and Display Power Bars.
  4. Turn on debuffs and the dispellable-only filter, but keep a full debuff view somewhere for poisons, curses and mechanics.
  5. Put this guide's mouseover heal keys on your bars. Hover a health bar and press: the frames alone don't do mouseover casting.
  6. Test a heal and a dispel in a group before the dungeon, then save again. Option names can differ by build.

Habits that prevent wipes

  • Prepare the pull. Fortitude up and a shield on the tank. Shields no longer starve warrior or bear rage.
  • Time Fear Ward. Ward the tank before a known fear. In Forever it blocks one fear, lasts 3 min and has a 3 min cooldown, so take turns with other priests.
  • Call mana breaks. Tell the tank you're drinking. In a long fight, drink a mana potion early, not at zero.
  • Keep line of sight. Follow the tank around corners before you need to heal, and stay in range.
  • A mob on you? Fade, then step toward the tank.
  • Own your Shackle. Agree on the marked undead, keep damage off it, and refresh before it breaks.
  • Heal with purpose. Start a heal before a predictable hit, cancel overheals when safe, and leave gaps for mana.
  • Prayer of Healing at 30. Use it when several in one party are hurt. In Forever it heals the target's party.
  • Stay alive. Healthstone, shield or Flash Heal on yourself before you drop, not after.
  • Rez in order. Anyone who can rez others first, then the tank, then everyone else. Rebuff before the next pull.
  • Save Inner Focus. If talented, spend it on an expensive heal like Prayer of Healing.
  • Spirit of Redemption. If you have it, keep healing for its 15 seconds after you die.

Healing math

What a point of each stat is worth, and how far each heal stretches your mana, from the community healing sheet. It models one level-60 raid healer with raid buffs: use it to compare gear and spells, not as exact numbers or level-30 weights.

What a stat is worth

Measured in Intellect: a point of Intellect is 1.00. Use it to compare two pieces of gear.

  • 1% spell crit 5.26Crits heal for 150%. Direct-heal crits also trigger Inspiration, and Divine Aegis if you took it.
  • 1 mana per 5 sec 1.70Mana every 5 seconds, casting or not.
  • 1% haste 1.61Faster casts and global cooldown. Rare on gear before 60.
  • 1 Intellect 1.00Mana pool and a little crit. The yardstick.
  • 1 Spirit 0.88Regen; Meditation keeps half of it while you cast.
  • 1 healing 0.74Bigger heals, scaled by each spell's coefficient.

Which heal stretches your mana

SpellHeal per manaHeal per cast second Effective per manaEffective per cast secondOverheal guess

Binding Heal 8.151,8586.111,39425%

Flash Heal 4.079293.0669725%
Power Word: Shield 2.757432.617055%

Per second means per second of casting: Renew heals over 15 seconds and Prayer of Mending only as it bounces. Effective numbers subtract the sheet's overheal guess. Prayer of Mending assumes all 5 bounces land and Binding Heal that you needed the self-heal. No single build has every spell: Prayer of Mending is a 31-point Holy talent and Penance a 21-point Discipline one.

What the sheet assumes6
Stats
From gear: 715 healing, 315 Intellect, 4% spell crit, 40 mana per 5, 249 Spirit. With buffs: 799 healing, 422 Intellect, 19% spell crit, 117 mana per 5, 336 Spirit, 6,331 mana.
Buffs
Mana Spring Totem, Divine Spirit, Arcane Intellect, Mark of the Wild, a 3% crit aura, Blessing of Wisdom and Blessing of Kings. Forever lets Undead be paladins, so a Horde raid with a paladin gets both blessings too; without one, your mana and stats run a little lower.
Consumables
Brilliant Mana Oil and a top mana potion on cooldown; no flask.
Talents
Holy 31: Improved Renew 3, Holy Specialization 5, Divine Fury 5, Inspiration 3, Improved Healing 3, Litany of Light 2, Spiritual Guidance 5, Spiritual Healing 3, Binding Heal, Prayer of Mending. Discipline 16: Twin Disciplines 5, Improved Power Word: Shield 2, Mental Agility 3, Inner Focus, Meditation 3, Mental Strength 2. Penance, Soul Warding and Divine Aegis aren't taken, so the Penance row is what you'd get with it.
Fight
180 seconds, one restoration shaman in your group, Prayer of Mending bouncing 5 times, Inspiration's value counted.
Formulas
Heal per mana: the average heal, with healing power times the spell's coefficient, talent bonuses and crit, divided by the mana cost after talents. Per cast second: the same heal divided by the cast time (1.5 seconds for instants). Effective: times one minus the overheal guess.

Raid night checklist

Tick things off as you pack. Ticks stay in this browser; clear them before the next raid night.

Raids in Forever

  • Raids open December 9, 2026, five weeks after launch: Onyxia's Lair (40 players), Barrow Deeps (10) and Hyjal Summit (20). Nothing opens on launch day.
  • Barrow Deeps has 8 bosses and Hyjal Summit 13. The names come from beta data; kill order and priest tactics aren't known yet.
  • Blizzard's roadmap adds two more raids in spring 2027, then a new raid and a revamped classic raid in summer. Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Zul'Gurub, both Ahn'Qiraj raids and Naxxramas have no Forever dates yet.
  • The new raids are 10 and 20 players. Don't assume the old 40-player raids shrink too.
  • Attunements for Onyxia and the new raids aren't announced. Nothing says the Horde Drakefire Amulet chain is gone, so start it if you can.
  • Potions changed: healing potions moved from Alchemy to First Aid, Mageblood Potion is now Mageblood Elixir, and the beta adds Cleric's elixirs plus Mender's and Spellblasting potions. Numbers may still change.
  • Prayer of Fortitude now buffs the whole raid, not one party, and still costs a Sacred Candle.
  • World buffs are reportedly gone from raids; Blizzard hasn't published the exact rules.
  • The beta stops at 30, so nothing at 60 here has been tested in Forever yet. Treat raid tactics as a starting point.
  • Boss lists and tactics below are Classic Era. Bosses sharing a number are one fight: a council, or the Edge of Madness boss of the week. Optional bosses are marked. Era data
  • Quantities are a night's suggested supply, not a shopping order. Most potions share one cooldown. Era data
  • Priests can't remove curses or poisons. Ask mages and druids for curses, and druids and shamans for poisons. Era data

Before every pull

  1. Know your job: which tank or party you heal, and who backs you up.
  2. Split shields: one priest shields each tank, so you don't overwrite each other's absorbs.
  3. Agree who dispels what, the Fear Ward order, and who gets Power Infusion and the first Prayer of Mending.
  4. Call low mana and deaths early, so someone covers your assignment.

Checklist from Codex research of Blizzard's Forever notes and Classic raid guides. Quantities are starting points; your raid leader's word wins.

Priest tips

Short habits that save mana, deaths and wipes. Forever-specific ones say so.

Leveling

  • Open, then wand. Mind Blast or Smite, Shadow Word: Pain if the mob will live long enough, then wand it down.
  • Two points in Wand Specialization. Forever gives 25% wand damage for 2 points instead of 5.
  • Pick wands by DPS. Since September 24, wands no longer get stronger from your spell power.
  • Land the killing blow. Spirit Tap's Spirit bonus after a kill speeds up your mana return.
  • Watch who you group with. A much higher-level friend in a dungeon group can stop everyone getting XP.

Groups and dungeons

  • Shield the tank freely. Since October 8, absorbs no longer cut warrior or druid rage. Ignore old advice saying otherwise.
  • Free the other healer first. Dispel a stun or fear off another healer before topping off someone who is already safe.
  • Agree on crowd control. Mark the Shackle or sap target before anyone puts damage over time on it.
  • Run to the tank. If a mob jumps you, run it to the tank, not away from the group.
  • Use cover. Stand where you can step behind a wall away from casters and still see your tank.

Mana

  • The five-second rule. After you spend mana, Spirit regen slows for 5 seconds; Meditation 3/3 keeps half of it going, and mana per 5 always counts. Wanding costs nothing, so wand while it recovers.
  • Take Meditation. Forever's Meditation gives 50% regen while casting at 3 points, not Era's 15%.
  • Call your drinks. Say you're drinking before you sit, so the next pull waits for you.
  • Dark Sacrifice between pulls. Undead: it trades health for mana, so use it when nothing is hitting you.
  • Alternate heals with Litany. Holy: switch heals when both are useful; don't cast an extra heal just for the refund.

On a PvP server

  • Plan an exit. Quest near a way back to friends, so an ambush doesn't pin you between mobs and players.
  • Quest in pairs. In contested zones, agree who peels if the other gets jumped.
  • Don't feed a camper. If a group camps your quest, regroup or switch quests instead of running back alone.
  • Report clearly. Tell the guild how many enemies and which way they're heading.
  • Rez from safety. After a fight, look around before you start a resurrection.

Tailoring and Enchanting for priests

Tailoring and Enchanting is the classic priest pair. Tailoring makes your cloth gear and bags; the magical gear you outgrow gets disenchanted into enchanting materials. Forever added recipes to both, and enchanters craft wands from the first levels.

Bag making

Reagent bags are new in Forever. They hold crafting materials (cloth, dust, herbs, ore) and players report they go in their own extra bag slot. ? means beta sources disagree, so check your trainer. Soul bags are warlock-only.

Free bags while you level: Handmade Leather Bag, 6 slots (Carry Your Weight, Durotar); Scuffed Shipping Crate, 8 (Parts and Pieces, Barrens); Deviate Hide Pack, 10 (Deviate Hides, Wailing Caverns); Spidersilk Pouch, 12 (Stronger than Steel, Mulgore, from 23); Old Toolbox, 12 (Stepping Stones, the sleeping-bag chain, which runs through Alliance zones). If your guild tailor has the Mageweave Bag recipe, two of those (8 Mageweave bolts and 4 Silken Thread) round out four 12-slot bags.

Tips

  • Train both early. Expert needs character level 20 and Artisan level 35, so in the level-30 beta your crafting stops at 225.
  • Disenchant every green you outgrow, starting with your own tailoring crafts. That keeps enchanting cheap.
  • Make a Lesser Magic Wand at skill 10 and wear it from level 5. It carries early leveling.
  • Merchant's Favor is Forever's new supply-faction currency. Horde spend it at Beneris, west of the Crossroads in the Barrens.
  • Each non-gathering primary profession gives Legacy points at 150, 225 and 300.
  • Tailoring 300 lists Truefaith Vestments and the new Gloves and Boots of Conviction, though their launch availability is unverified.

  • Cloaks have no Intellect, Spirit, spell power or healing enchant in Forever (those arrive in later expansions), so resistance, armor or Subtlety it is. Enchanting has no head enchant; at 50 and up, look for the quest arcanums. Priests can't use shields. Enchanter-only ring enchants are rumored but unverified in the beta.
  • Lesser Healing Power bracers come from the Desolace centaur quests, which Blizzard moved to level 35 on October 8, so they aren't in the beta.
  • Beneris, west of the Crossroads in the Barrens, sells the Horde Merchant's Favor formulas: Insight and Revelation for 45, the necklaces for 120 at Friendly, level 60 formulas for 240 at Honored.
  • Skill is the enchanter's Enchanting skill, not your level. The 60 columns assume raid and reputation formulas that may not be in at launch. These are practical picks from beta data, not measured raid best-in-slot.

What Forever changed for priests

The changes that affect your keys, from Blizzard's priest deep dive, the Legacy article and the beta notes through October 8.

Fear WardEvery priest, any race, at level 20.
Devouring PlagueEvery priest, any race, at level 20. Can crit since October 1.
Divine SpiritNo longer a talent. Every priest learns it at 30.
Shadow Word: DeathEvery priest at 32. Costs you 10% max health if the target survives. 15 sec cooldown.
Prayer of HealingHeals the target's party and pets, not only yours.
RenewStacks from several priests on one target. Can crit.
Power Word: ShieldCan overwrite an existing shield on a target without Weakened Soul.
FadeThreat reduction doubled.
ShadowformEvery non-healing spell is allowed in form. Shadow spells cost 50% less mana; Shadow crits do 100% more bonus damage.
Binding HealNew 16-point Holy talent. Heals you and your target, 1.5 sec cast, no cooldown.
PenanceNew 21-point Discipline talent. 2 sec channel, 12 sec cooldown, heals or damages. Retuned October 8.
Prayer of MendingNew 31-point Holy talent. Replaces Lightwell.

RacialsTroll: Hex of Weakness and Shadowguard, unchanged. Undead: Touch of Weakness unchanged, new Dark Sacrifice at 20.
Professions600+ new recipes, food that adds a little XP, and campsite objects from profession skill 20.

Troubleshooting

Shift does nothing
The rank in the macro is not learned yet, or another key is bound to Shift plus this key. Try clicking the button while holding Shift.
The wrong ally got the heal
An ally under your mouse always wins. Move your mouse off the frames, or use a target-only version.
You heal yourself when you miss a frame
Delete the [@player] part so a miss does nothing.
Tooltip looks right but the cast fails
Check range, line of sight, mana, cooldowns and Weakened Soul. A correct tooltip does not mean a successful cast.
The spell name shows in red
The name or rank is not exact. Open the macro, put your cursor where the spell goes, and Shift-click the spell in your spellbook.
Pressing twice cancels your heal
You used a panic key. Those start with /stopcasting; use your normal heal key for normal healing.
A blocked action or addon error
Test with the default action bar and no addons, then turn addons back on one at a time.
The macro won't save
It is over 255 characters, including line breaks. Every card shows its count.

Graphics and console settings

36 commands

For healing, a steady frame rate and readable ground effects beat pretty water. Start at native resolution and 100% render scale, with Low or Fair shadows, Medium particles and Projected Textures on. Cap your frame rate at what your PC can hold, and 30 in the background. Write down every value before you change it so you can put it back.

The Forever look

The September tip from Icy Veins that went around the community: render scale 98%, contrast 60, brightness 40 (some players prefer 45). The same sliders are in Settings > Graphics (Render Scale under Resolution; Contrast, Brightness and Gamma further down). It depends on your monitor, so try it in a foggy zone and keep what looks right.

Write down your current look first

Prints render scale, contrast, brightness and gamma so you can put them back.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"RenderScale","Contrast","Brightness","Gamma"}) do print(n,C_CVar.GetCVar(n)) end

The Forever look: 98% scale, contrast 60, brightness 40

Icy Veins says 98% render scale cleans up the image and can save a few frames, and contrast 60 with brightness 40 makes the new fog stand out. One player post uses brightness 45. It depends on your monitor.

3 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console RenderScale 0.98
/console Contrast 60
/console Brightness 40

Undo: back to the game's defaults

Resets render scale, contrast and brightness to the client defaults. If you wrote down different values, type those instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"RenderScale","Contrast","Brightness"}) do local d=C_CVar.GetCVarDefault(n); if d then C_CVar.SetCVar(n,d) end end

Record first

Screenshot Settings > Graphics (Base, Raid and Advanced) before you touch anything. These read-only lines print your current values to chat.

Read your current foreground cap

Reads maxFPS without changing it. The cap enable switch is separate.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("maxFPS", C_CVar.GetCVar("maxFPS"))

Read the client-reported cap default

Reads the running client's reported default for maxFPS without changing the current value.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("maxFPS default", C_CVar.GetCVarDefault("maxFPS"))

Record cap switches, VSync and render scale

Prints six current settings: foreground/background enable flags and caps, VSync, and render scale.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"useMaxFPS","maxFPS","useMaxFPSBk","maxFPSBk","vsync","RenderScale"}) do print(n,C_CVar.GetCVar(n)) end

Restore a recorded 120 FPS cap

Sets maxFPS to 120 ONLY as an example where 120 was the value you recorded before tuning.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console maxFPS 120

Reset one CVar to its client default

Looks up the current client-reported default for the named maxFPS CVar, then sets that one CVar only if a default was returned.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run local n="maxFPS"; local d=C_CVar.GetCVarDefault(n); if d then C_CVar.SetCVar(n,d) end

Balanced starting profile
