Bind a macro in a minute

  1. Type /macro while out of combat.
  2. Pick the tab with your warrior's name so the macro stays on this character.
  3. Click New, type the short name shown on the card, and pick the red question-mark icon: it lets #showtooltip show the real spell icon.
  4. Click Copy on the card, paste into the big box, and click Save.
  5. Drag the macro onto an action bar and bind that slot in Options > Keybindings.
  6. Test it out of combat with every modifier listed on the card.

Before you rely on a key. These macros are checked against Blizzard's Forever posts and the Forever client's own UI code, but none has been run in the game yet. Test each one out of combat first. Checked against build 1.60.1.70374 on Oct 14, 2026.

What Forever changed for warriors

From Blizzard's priest and warrior deep dive, the beta notes through October 8 and Wowhead's Forever talent data; Client marks details from the tooltips that Blizzard's posts don't cover.

Tactical MasteryTrain at 14 and retain up to 10 Rage when changing stances.
Victory RushAvailable at 20 after a qualifying kill; heals 10% of maximum health.
BloodthirstThe client now lists 45% of Attack Power plus base damage and a 10% movement-speed boost for 10 seconds. Its old direct healing moved out; Gore Drinker supplies separate healing if talented.
Spearing StrikeNew Arms attack. The client lists 40% weapon damage plus another 80% against Giants, Dragonkin, and mounted targets, and dismounts mounted targets; test the dismount live.
BloodthrillMain-hand attacks against your Rend target can enable Overpower for 6 seconds. Forever's ranks give 4/8/12/16/20% chances.
Lingering RageNew Fury talent delays out-of-combat Rage decay by 2/4/6/8/10 seconds.
Furious PrecisionNew Fury talent adds 4/7/10% off-hand hit chance. It is not general melee hit.
Raging BlowsNow saves 3 Rage on Cleave and Whirlwind. Off-hand Whirlwind no longer needs this talent.
Gore DrinkerAt 1/2 ranks, Enrage, Berserker Rage, Bloodrage, Death Wish, and Bloodthirst make your next three melee attacks heal 0.5/1% of maximum health each. Requires Enrage 5/5.
Iron WillForever's tree puts it in Protection row 0. Its five ranks shorten Stun and Fear effects by 3/6/9/12/15%; this replaces the Era resistance effect.
VanguardNew Protection talent permits Charge in Defensive Stance. It does not promise Charge during combat.
Master of DefenseWith a shield, dodges and parries have a 50/100% chance to give 5 Rage. Requires Shield Specialization 5/5.
BastionFive ranks add 2/4/6/8/10% damage while a shield is equipped. The current tree puts it in row 5, behind 25 Protection points.
Focused RageThree ranks save 1/2/3 Rage on offensive abilities. The October 8 tree places it in row 4, available after 20 Protection points.
Improved Tactical MasteryFive ranks retain 3/6/9/12/15 additional Rage on a stance change. With trained Tactical Mastery, the maximum retained is 25.
WeaponmasterOne talent covers several weapons. At 5/5: axes and polearms gain 5% crit, maces and staves ignore 15% armor, and swords gain a 5% extra-attack chance.
Improved SlamMoved to Arms. Two ranks cut Slam cast time and global cooldown by 0.25/0.50 seconds and its cooldown by 1.5/3 seconds; talented Slam leaves your auto-attack swing alone.
Thunder ClapUsable in Defensive Stance, scales with Attack Power, and has a 6-second cooldown.
Sunder ArmorThreat scales with Attack Power. Usable beneath stronger Expose Armor; threat values were corrected October 8.
Shield WallShield Wall, Retaliation, and Recklessness have separate cooldowns. Shield Wall and Retaliation have 15-minute base cooldowns.

PvP in Forever

  • Honor is a spending currency from player kills, battlegrounds, and PvP quests. Rank Points advance rank and have a weekly cap; holiday battlegrounds give bonuses.
  • Blue PvP pieces upgrade to epic with the matching blue item and a rank-gated Emboldened Seal. Rank 2 unlocks the PvP trinket; rank 14 unlocks epic weapons.
  • Seasonal weekly tasks grant Honor and Rank Points. Three tasks per season also grant Legacy Points; those tasks remain available in future seasons.
  • Darkspear Islands is 15 versus 15 for levels 30 through 60. Hold four bases and bring the center flag to a base your team owns; the first team to 2,000 points wins.
  • Horde rewards use Darkspear Raiders reputation. Their Merchant Coast base in the Barrens offers a portal, quests, and vendors; capital-city battlemasters also queue players.
  • Launch check: verify level brackets, queue availability, rank decay, and exact weekly thresholds. The announced 30-60 access range does not promise one shared bracket.
  • Era tactics: escort friends, defend objectives, and slow the enemy chasing your healer. A duel in the road does not capture a base.

Your PvP tools

  • HamstringAvailable from 8. Slow a runner or the melee chasing your healer, then stay with your team.
  • ChargeAvailable from 4. Close the gap before combat; Vanguard permits Defensive Stance, not unrestricted combat charging.
  • InterceptAvailable at 30 with Berserker Stance. Save it for a gap that walking cannot solve.
  • Shield BashAvailable from 12 and requires a shield. Interrupt a heal or dangerous cast; at 30 you do not yet have Pummel.
  • PummelTrainer level 38. A later interrupt in Berserker Stance; leave it out of the level-30 plan.
  • Berserker RageAvailable at 30. Use against fear; check stance and exact control effects on the live tooltip.
  • Intimidating ShoutAvailable from 22. Fear enemies to peel or escape, but watch nearby packs and damage that can break control.
  • DisarmAvailable from 18. Reduce pressure from a weapon user who can be disarmed; some targets and effects prevent it.
  • Piercing HowlA Fury talent reachable at 20 with all points in Fury. Its nearby slow helps peel several enemies.
  • Mortal StrikeNeeds 31 Arms points, normally level 40. Its 50% healing reduction helps your team finish a target.
  • Spearing StrikeA 16-point Arms talent. Forever's tooltip dismounts mounted targets; confirm before relying on it for flag defense.
  • Death WishNeeds 21 Fury points. Damage and fear immunity help a planned push, but extra damage taken can get you sent home early.

Talents and Legacy

Points read Arms / Fury / Protection. Without Talented, gain one per level from 10: 21 at 30 and 51 at 60. These are legal plans from Wowhead's October 14 Forever warrior talent data, not tested damage rankings. Rows count from 0 and need five points per row in the same tree; some talents also need a specific prerequisite.

Legacy picks for a warrior

Legacy opens once a character on your account reaches 25; Blizzard also lists earlier routes through crafting or exploration. Earn account-wide points, then spend them separately on each character. Launch spending is capped at 16 per character. The builds below assume none.

  1. Well RestedFaster rested XP and a larger rested cap suit Gaming after bedtime. The beta perk tree requires it before Talented.5 points
  2. TalentedUnlock up to five talent points early. At 30 that means 26 instead of 21; it does not add five to the normal level-60 total.5 points
  3. Thrill of AdventureOutdoor qualifying kills restore some health. Warriors use the health part even though they have no mana bar.5 points
  4. Field MedicineShortens Recently Bandaged outside dungeons, raids, and battlegrounds. More bandages, fewer snack breaks.1 point

Costs and the Well Rested prerequisite use the beta's Legacy panel. Verify before spending. The 5 + 5 + 5 + 1 plan uses the 16-point launch spending cap, but a fresh account must earn those points first. The beta grant is not a launch grant.

Ranks you can skip

  • Buy what you press every pull first: Heroic Strike, Battle Shout, Rend, Overpower and Execute.
  • Tank tools (Mocking Blow, Challenging Shout) can wait if you only quest; buy them before your first tanking run.
  • Cleave and Slam ranks matter only if your build uses them.
  • Train every even level: most warrior ranks arrive two levels apart, and rage-cheap upgrades add up.
  • If gold is tight before your mount, delay ranks you don't press, never Battle Shout or your main attack.

Gear and consumables

Your weapon does most of the heavy lifting. Keep a shield and a one-handed weapon in your bags for Dad Bods dungeon nights. These picks separate beta tooltips from era planning. Gaming after bedtime, repairs before breakfast.

What stats matter, and when

StageWhat to stackWhy
Leveling Arms or FuryWeapon DPS and Strength, then Agility and enough Stamina to stay uprightWeapon upgrades speed up kills. Forever normalizes Rage from weapon hits, so bigger damage does not buy proportionally more Rage.
Dungeon tankStamina, Defense skill and armor; keep a useful one-handed weaponArmor no longer reduces Rage gained from taking damage. In Classic Era, Survival buys your healer time; Defense helps prevent melee hits and crits.
Raid DPSHit to your special-attack cap, then Strength and critAt 60 versus a level-63 boss, 300 weapon skill needs 9 percent hit; 305 needs 6 percent. Forever caps need testing. Precision and Tauren hit change how much gear hit you need; Orc axes grant crit, not skill.
Raid tankDefense to the crit-immune threshold, Stamina, then avoidance440 total Defense prevents ordinary level-63 melee crits at 60; this is not a crushing-blow cap. Forever's threshold needs testing. Count Anticipation and other buffs before buying Defense gear.

Gear to aim for by 30

All listed equip requirements are 30 or lower. Numeric stats below come from Forever tooltips. New crafts bind on pickup, so make them yourself. Quest minimums and boss levels can still make a piece hard to earn. Two-Hand is an alternative to Main Hand plus Off Hand; never add all three together. Trinkets are optional utility, not a bedtime-sized farming assignment.

20 to 24Keep Forsaken Greataxe or Hammerbone; Wingblade or Vileblood Scimitar with shieldKeep earlier quest rewards; compare Shadowfang Keep dropsKeep a solid two-hander rather than forcing dual wield. Fury needs a second off-hand-eligible weapon and confirmed Dual Wield training.
25 to 29Corpsemaker at 29; Vileblood Scimitar with an eligible second one-hander or shieldRazorfen Kraul for the two-hander; retain Ruins of Lordaeron weaponCorpsemaker is the two-handed milestone. Pronged Reaver requires 30, so do not budget it for this bracket; compare your current pair with a two-hander.
30 to 36Whirlwind Axe; Pronged Reaver plus Vileblood Scimitar or another eligible one-handerCyclonian class chain; Razorfen Kraul; keep earlier one-handed dropsThe class axe needs help, and Pronged Reaver is unique-equipped at 30. 37 to 44Whirlwind Axe or Ravager; Sword of Omen plus Vanquisher's SwordKeep the class axe; Herod; Bring the EndRavager needs 37 and is a cleave option, not an automatic single-target upgrade. Use the sword pair for Fury or one sword with a shield for Protection.
45 to 50Keep Whirlwind Axe until beaten; Thrash Blade plus Vanquisher's SwordMaraudon quest; compare two-handed dungeon dropsThrash Blade is the reliable one-hand milestone. Tanks can seek Gizlock's Hypertech Buckler; do not replace a stronger weapon just to follow a row.
51 to 57Dreadforge Retaliator at 54; Thrash Blade plus Mirah's Song when obtainableEmperor in Blackrock Depths; Scholomance quest chainThe axe needs 54. Mirah's Song is a late-dungeon target, not a level-51 handout; keep your old one-hander and shield meanwhile.
58 to 60Arcanite Reaper; Dal'Rend's Sacred Charge plus Dal'Rend's Tribal GuardianBlacksmithing or auction house; Rend in Upper Blackrock SpireExpensive or drop-dependent candidates. Thrash Blade plus Mirah's Song is a practical Fury fallback; Protection keeps a one-hander and Draconian Deflector.

Keep your stronger weapon until the next target is obtainable and equippable; check hand restrictions, training and the live tooltip before spending gold.

Pre-raid targets at 60

These are two 17-slot pre-raid shopping lists, not confirmed Forever best-in-slot sets. Forever database records are linked in the pool; three blocked item tooltips use explicit Classic fallbacks. Recheck launch loot, stats and availability. First raids open December 9: Onyxia's Lair 40, Barrow Deeps 10 and Hyjal Summit 20. Quel'Serrar needs Onyxia, so it is not a pre-raid pick. Arcanite Reaper is the two-handed DPS alternative. Mark of Fordring and Ornate Adamantium Breastplate are competing quest rewards; one character cannot earn both from the same turn-in.

Client means a Forever tooltip or beta guide; era means Classic knowledge awaiting Forever confirmation. Healing potions moved to First Aid, while Rage potions and elixirs remain Alchemy. Potion cooldowns can compete, so plan healing before spending one on damage. Read food buffs instead of assuming their Era stats. Pool scores omit procs, set bonuses, weapon skill, resistances and profession restrictions. Ranged weapon DPS is not melee weapon DPS. Apply hit and Defense thresholds separately; a bigger score does not prove a safe tank set. Scores use published WoWSims Classic presets, normalized to Strength 1 for DPS and Stamina 1 for tank. They are era comparisons, not a Forever simulation or level-30 calibration. wdps uses the main-hand coefficient; off-hand and two-handed comparisons need separate judgment.

Tanking in groups

Keep the pack on you, give the healer a clear view and pull at a pace the group can afford. Forever changes are called out below; Era habits are a starting point until new fights are tested.

Set up your screen

  1. Client setup: enable enemy nameplates and keep their health bars readable; option names can differ in build 1.60.1.
  2. Client setup: turn on the built-in threat warning or threat colors if offered; test what the colors mean while grouped.
  3. Client setup: if you use a threat display addon, confirm Forever 1.60.1 support before trusting its numbers; keep the built-in warning visible.
  4. Client setup: enable Target of Target so you can see when your enemy switches to the healer.
  5. Client setup: put party health and mana near your target frame; keep healer mana visible without opening a panel.
  6. Client setup: bind Skull, Cross, Moon, Square and Star raid marks, then test marking and your Taunt key on a small pull.

Raid marks

  • SkullKill first once the tank has it.
  • CrossKill second; leave it with the tank while Skull is alive.
  • MoonAssigned crowd control, usually Polymorph; no damage here.
  • SquareSecond control target, such as a trap; name its owner.
  • StarPriority interrupt or special add; agree its exact job before pulling.

Habits that keep the group alive

  • Plan the pull.Era habit: check patrols, healer mana and an escape spot. Shoot one pack when charging would bring company; carry ammunition if your ranged weapon needs it.
  • Mark before moving.Era habit: Skull dies first, Cross second. Assign crowd control before attacking; keep cleaves and Thunder Clap away from controlled enemies.
  • Bring casters around a corner.Era habit: shoot, step fully behind cover and let the pack reach you. Tell the group where to stand; the healer needs sight of you once you stop.
  • Wear the shield.Defiance needs a shield. Tank in Defensive Stance and face enemies; strafe into position instead of exposing your back. Vanguard allows Charge in Defensive Stance if talented.
  • Build threat across the pack.Thunder Clap works in Defensive Stance. Client practice: use Revenge when available and spread Sunder Armor to loose targets; build five stacks on a lasting boss, not every nearly dead trash enemy.
  • Taunt is a rescue.Era habit: Taunt a loose, tauntable enemy, then land threat abilities before its forced attention ends. It does not replace a threat lead, and some raid bosses ignore it.
  • Block before the hits.Shield Block is listed at 16 in the spell data. Use it before dangerous physical swings and budget rage for it; it will not stop spell damage.
  • Rage comes with the job.Armor and absorbs no longer cut incoming-hit rage. Accept the priest shield; pull safely instead of removing armor to chase a fuller rage bar.
  • Cover defensive debuffs.Era habit: maintain Demoralizing Shout on hard-hitting melee enemies and Thunder Clap where the attack-speed slow applies. Agree who owns them; neither makes a spell-only attack harmless.
  • Spend spare rage last.Era habit: save rage for threat and defense before Heroic Strike or Cleave. Shield Bash is listed at 12 with a shield; do not wait for Pummel, listed at 38.
  • Use Shield Wall while alive.Shield Wall is listed at 28. Use it before a damage spike or when healing is interrupted, with a shield and the required stance; announce it so the healer can respond.
  • Let the healer drink.Era habit: stop before the next pack when mana is low, even if you have rage. A ten-second drink beats a five-minute corpse run.
  • Keep fear under control.Era habit: Intimidating Shout can send enemies into another pack. Berserker Rage needs Berserker Stance for fear protection; plan the stance change, then return to Defensive Stance. Blizzard's October 1 beta notes confirm Berserker Rage at level 30.

Which ability when

Choose the button that solves the problem in front of you. Level-30 choices use Forever's trainer data; level-60 choices assume you trained the spell or bought its talent, and Era habits need live testing.

SituationAt 30At 60Why
One target while levelingCharge when allowed, keep Battle Shout up, and use Overpower when available. Arms can add Spearing Strike; use Rend when the enemy will live long enough for its ticks.Use Mortal Strike or Bloodthirst if talented, plus Overpower when available. Arms with Bloodthrill keeps Rend active for its Overpower triggers.A useful instant attack beats pressing every spender until the bar is empty.
Several enemiesUse Thunder Clap and affordable Cleave. Arms can use Sweeping Strikes at 30; avoid crowd-controlled neighbors.Add trained Whirlwind when safe. Tanks spread Sunder Armor and Revenge instead of expecting one button to hold everything.Multi-target attacks still need space, Rage, and a group ready for the pull.
A caster begins a dangerous spellEquip a shield and use Shield Bash in an allowed stance. Pummel is not trained until 38 in Forever's data.Use Pummel in Berserker Stance or Shield Bash with a shield. Agree on interrupt turns before important pulls. An interrupted spell needs no healing afterward. Save the interrupt for a cast that matters.
A runner heads toward friendsHamstring the runner. Piercing Howl helps if talented; Intercept at 30 closes a gap in Berserker Stance.Keep those tools and use a suitable stun if your build has one and the target is vulnerable.Stopping a runner can prevent another pull. Chasing blindly can create one.
Your health is lowUse a health potion, ask for help, or use activated Victory Rush if ready. Tanks can use Shield Wall or talented Last Stand before the next hit; bandage after stopping incoming damage.Keep the same emergency plan. Gore Drinker helps if talented but is not an instant full heal.Survival comes before one more damage button. Do not wait for the screen to turn gray.
Tanking a fresh pullEquip a shield, use Defensive Stance, and open with Charge if Vanguard allows or a controlled ranged pull. Use Thunder Clap, Revenge when available, and Sunder Armor on the focus target.Add Shield Slam if talented. Keep Shield Block and defensive cooldowns ready for dangerous melee damage.A controlled opening gives your healer time and everyone a clear first target.
An enemy leaves you for the healerTaunt in Defensive Stance, then add threat with Revenge or Sunder Armor. If Taunt fails, use an available forced-attack tool and call for control.Follow with Shield Slam if talented. On taunt-immune enemies, use threat and the encounter plan; repeated Taunt will not fix immunity.Taunt is a short recovery tool, not a permanent threat lead. Check live Forever behavior.
Rage starvedLet ordinary swings land, use Bloodrage when its health cost is safe, and save Rage for an interrupt or needed threat. Avoid filling every swing with Heroic Strike.Keep those priorities. Protection gets cheaper abilities through Focused Rage; Fury can improve off-hand hit chance through Furious Precision.A quiet key is better than an empty bar when the healer needs help.
The target reaches Execute rangeUse learned Execute when the target meets its tooltip threshold. Save Rage for an urgent interrupt or tank duty.Use the same finisher with trained ranks; compare damage results before treating it as the only button to press.Era threshold is below 20% health. Check Forever tuning instead of copying a fixed Era rotation.
A fear is comingUse learned Berserker Rage in an allowed stance, or coordinate Fear Ward. Fury with Death Wish has another fear-immunity option with a damage-taken cost.Plan fear coverage with the group. Undead players should read the current Will of the Forsaken tooltip before relying on an Era immunity trick.Preventing lost seconds is easier than collecting enemies after everyone runs in a different direction.

Raids in Forever

  • Launch is November 4, 2026. First raids open December 9: Onyxia's Lair for 40, Barrow Deeps for 10 and Hyjal Summit for 20.
  • Horde warriors include Orc, Undead, Tauren, Troll and Skyborne in Blizzard's race and class chart.
  • Thunder Clap works in Defensive Stance and Defiance requires a shield.
  • Incoming-hit rage ignores armor and absorbs; priest shields do not starve it.
  • Sunder Armor generates threat under stronger Expose Armor; October 8 notes adjusted its threat values.
  • Shield Wall, Retaliation and Recklessness no longer share a cooldown; check your current cooldown lengths.
  • Boss tactics below are older Classic plans, including Onyxia. They do not prove Forever mechanics or resistance requirements. Era data
  • New boss names come from the sister guide's beta data. Their order, abilities and warrior assignments are unverified; no TBC Hyjal tactics are imported. Era data
  • The beta cap is 30. Level-60 gear and consumables are candidates, not tested Forever best-in-slot lists. Era data
  • Assign tanks, Sunder Armor, defensive debuffs and Battle Shout parties before pulling. Keep Intimidating Shout away from uncontrolled packs. Era data
  • Bring quantities are a suggested evening supply; check potion cooldowns and weapon-buff conflicts in the live client. Era data
  • Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Zul'Gurub, Ahn'Qiraj and Naxxramas have no verified Forever opening date here. Era data

Before the raid: assignments

  1. Era planning: name the main tank, off tank, backup and add owners for each fight; decide the swap trigger and whether the boss can be taunted.
  2. Era planning: assign five Sunder Armor stacks and a backup owner; split Demoralizing Shout and Thunder Clap upkeep, checking which debuffs apply.
  3. Era planning: assign Battle Shout by party and keep those groups together; confirm live range and coverage before assuming it buffs the whole raid.
  4. Era planning: assign fear coverage with priests and shamans; plan Berserker Rage around its current stance requirement. Keep Intimidating Shout off ordinary pulls.
  5. Defiance requires a shield. Plan your shield set, survival cooldowns and healer coverage before experimenting with damage gear.

Before every pull

  1. Check repaired gear, assigned weapon and shield, food and consumables; tank unknown pulls in survival gear.
  2. Confirm your marked target, tank position and healer line of sight; wait for the healer ready call.
  3. Refresh Battle Shout for your assigned party; use Bloodrage only when the pull is ready.
  4. If Sunder Armor is the chosen armor debuff, build five stacks and refresh them. Forever also permits Sunder threat under stronger Expose Armor; coordinate with the rogue rather than promising both armor reductions.
  5. Apply assigned Demoralizing Shout and Thunder Clap where effective; avoid duplicating a stronger debuff just for upkeep.
  6. Know the next swap or add spawn. Taunt only where it works, prepare Shield Block for physical hits and call Shield Wall before the emergency becomes a death.
  7. For fear, check Berserker Rage and agreed Fear Ward or Tremor coverage. Keep Intimidating Shout reserved; on an Era mind-control fight, follow the safe cooldown plan.

Warrior jobs by raid size

RaidWarriorsWho does what
10 players: Barrow Deeps2 to 3 warriors if the roster supports itSuggested split: main tank, off tank or damage warrior ready with a shield, optional third on damage. Divide Sunder Armor, Demoralizing Shout and Thunder Clap; assign Battle Shout to covered parties. Boss-specific tank counts are unknown.
20 players: Hyjal Summit, Zul'Gurub, AQ203 to 5 warriors if neededSuggested split: main tank, one or two off tanks for adds or swaps, others on damage and backup debuffs. Battle Shout by party; agree interrupts. Hyjal mechanics are unknown; ZG and AQ20 jobs are Era plans.
40 players: Onyxia, Molten Core and later6 to 10 warriors as a roster exampleMain tank plus assigned off tanks; others deal damage, cover Sunder Armor and shouts, and keep shield sets ready. Add tanks vary by boss. Era Four Horsemen needs a larger total tank team; these numbers are not a requirement for every fight.

Warrior counts are suggested guild rosters, not confirmed Forever compositions. Raid jobs are Era plans; new mechanics, shout coverage and fear timing need live checks, and no tank should assume Berserker Rage works in every stance.

Warrior tips

Forever changes use Blizzard posts and Forever's beta client data. Habits marked Era are carryover advice, not confirmed Forever formulas. Era reference: Icy Veins Classic Warrior Leveling Guide, https://www.icy-veins.com/wow-classic/classic-warrior-leveling-guide.

Leveling

  • Start with one enemy. Fight near your level and leave room to retreat. A second enemy is a choice, not a surprise subscription.
  • Use the post-kill heal. Victory Rush arrives at 20. Use it while its kill activation is available and its cooldown is ready.

Rage management

  • Save the next useful button. Do not spend your last Rage on Heroic Strike when you need an interrupt or threat ability. Recheck queued-strike Rage behavior in Forever.
  • Wear your armor. Armor and absorbs do not reduce the intended incoming-hit Rage. A priest shield is welcome.
  • Expect different Rage income. Outgoing basic-attack Rage is normalized by weapon speed; critical basic attacks generate 100% additional Rage. Incoming-hit Rage ignores armor and absorbs. Do not copy an Era damage-to-Rage formula.

Stances

  • Know your three homes. Battle is stance 1, Defensive is 2, and Berserker is 3. Check before the emergency.
  • Spend before you switch. Tactical Mastery retains up to 10 Rage, or 25 with Improved Tactical Mastery 5/5. Excess Rage is not saved.

Tanking a dungeon

  • Bring a shield and mark a first target. Era habit: agree on a focus target and face enemies away from allies. Forever Defiance specifically needs a shield.
  • Build threat across the pull. Forever Thunder Clap works in Defensive Stance. Add Sunder Armor and Revenge where needed; Taunt is recovery, not a full rotation.

Weapons and gear

  • Compare the weapon itself. Weapon damage and DPS are major leveling upgrades. Train its weapon skill before a difficult pull.
  • Keep a tank kit. Save a shield and sturdy pieces even when questing with a two-hander or dual wield. Forever shield talents give that kit extra value.

Food and First Aid

  • Turn cloth into another health bar. Learn First Aid and carry food. Stop incoming damage before bandaging; a hit can interrupt it.
  • Heal between safe pulls. Do not pull extra enemies just to keep Rage. Health, healer mana, and an escape matter more.

Forever talent traps

  • Read current names. Forever's tree has Furious Precision and Lingering Rage, not the old Precision and Boundless Rage recommendations. Death Wish now gates Flurry.
  • Respect the beta cap. Trainer data puts Whirlwind at 36 and Pummel at 38. At 30, use Shield Bash for interrupts and Cleave for a second target.

Horde choices

  • Pick someone you want to log into. Orc, Undead, Tauren, and Troll can be warriors. Blizzard also confirms Horde Windshaper Skyborne warriors.
  • Read your racial tooltip. Use Forever tooltips before borrowing an Era trick. Windshaper Skyborne have Skysight movement speed and Wind Blessed haste.

Professions for warriors

Pick the pair you will actually use between bedtime and your own bedtime. Mining and Blacksmithing builds your gear; Mining and Engineering adds utility. Herbalism and Alchemy feeds your consumable habit. Skinning and Leatherworking works for DPS leather, but gives a tank less mail armor. Learn First Aid and Cooking alongside any pair.

Which pair to pick

ProfessionsWhyBest for
Mining and BlacksmithingNew mail crafts cover several warrior slots, and many bind on pickup. Mining supplies bars and stone. The cost is pearls, extra reagents, recipe hunting and time at an anvil; dungeon drops may beat a craft.Self-sufficient leveling and shield tanks
Mining and EngineeringBombs, gadgets and the new Satchel of Copper Bombs add options; many require Engineering to use. Mining supplies the metal. It eats bag space and gold, and devices are not a guaranteed rescue button.Dungeon utility, PvP and dads who enjoy buttons
Herbalism and AlchemyMake Rage potions and useful elixirs, or sell herbs. Healing potions are now First Aid, so this pair does not buy exclusive self-healing. Gathering takes time and recipes can be scarce.Consumable supply and steady gathering income
Skinning and LeatherworkingNew leather crafts offer physical stats. In Classic Era, Devilsaur gear is a DPS reference, and finished tradeable gear can be bought without the profession. Leather has less armor than mail or plate; do not pick it expecting a full tank set.DPS leveling, leather buyers and gathering on your quest route

The route follows WoW-Professions' Forever guide through 225. Materials are per craft, not a guaranteed shopping total. Stop when the next recipe becomes worthwhile; yellow and green crafts can fail to give skill. Artisan needs character level 35, above the beta cap. The guide warns that many recipes turn gray earlier than Era, so the 225 to 300 route is left for launch. Keep a Blacksmith Hammer and use an anvil. New BoP gear cannot be made by a guildmate for you.

Forever beta routes and Era Engineering share many recipes; bills here are per craft. Orgrimmar and Undercity have trainers. Above 225 needs character level 35, so stop at the beta limit. In Classic Era, At launch continue with casings, bombs, dense powder and Thorium parts only after checking the trainer. Many gadgets require Engineering and may fail. Buy schematics on the character who will learn them.

Tips

  • Durotar Supply and Logistics has the Horde camp near the Crossroads. Fill crates for Merchant's Favor and compare recipe prices before emptying your coin purse.
  • First Aid is secondary and now crafts healing potions, disease remedies and bleed remedies. It does not consume one of your two primary profession slots.
  • New Veteran and Protector crafts bind on pickup. Tradeable older gear and guns can be bought from guildmates without taking the profession.
  • Tauren Cultivation grows herbs without Herbalism, but October 8 notes add level requirements. It does not replace a complete gathering route.
  • You can change professions later. Budget for relearning recipes; keep your materials and check BoP requirements before switching.
  • The Horde race table includes Windshaper Skyborne warriors alongside Orc, Undead, Tauren and Troll.
  • Bring food, bandages and repair money before buying a fancy craft. The best profession is the one that gets used.

One permanent enchant or attachment per slot. In Classic Era, Iron Counterweight replaces the permanent weapon enchant, so do not buy it and Crusader for the same weapon. Temporary sharpening and weightstones are a separate layer, but confirm their interaction with Forever buffs. Client PTR scroll records do not prove that enchant scrolls are obtainable; arrange an enchanter's service. Crusader's formula still has a Scarlet Spellbinder record. Agility's formula requires Timbermaw Honored. Check the live formula and materials bill. Do not treat Grand Crusader or other inherited database entries as available without a source.

Troubleshooting

Charge says I am in combat
Charge needs you out of combat, even with Vanguard; use Intercept at 30 when combat blocks Charge.
Overpower is greyed out
You need Battle Stance, rage, melee range, and a dodge opening on that target or a Bloodthrill proc.
My stance swap ate my rage
Train Tactical Mastery at 14 to keep 10 rage; Improved Tactical Mastery adds up to 15 more, and anything above your limit is lost.
Heroic Strike never fires
It waits for your next melee swing; check that auto-attack is running, you are in range, and you have enough rage.
My shield swap did not interrupt
Replace both item placeholders, check Battle or Defensive Stance, and press Shield Bash again after the weapon swap delay.
The wrong enemy got my Taunt
A living enemy under your mouse wins over your target; move your mouse away from other enemies or remove the mouseover bracket.
Shift does nothing
Check for another Shift key binding, then click while holding Shift; Shift on a cancel card removes a buff instead of casting it.
The tooltip is right but nothing happens
Check the beta cap, talents, exact spell names, stance, gear, rage, range, and cooldowns; a macro cannot wait or test whether the spell will succeed.

Graphics and console settings

36 commands

A steady frame rate helps you catch interrupts and keep targets in reach, while readable ground effects help you move before your healer has to say your name twice. Start at native resolution and 100% render scale, with Low or Fair shadows, Medium particles and Projected Textures on. Cap your frame rate at what your PC can hold, and 30 in the background. Write down every value before you change it so you can put it back.

The Forever look

The September tip from Icy Veins that went around the community: render scale 98%, contrast 60, brightness 40 (some players prefer 45). The same sliders are in Settings > Graphics (Render Scale under Resolution; Contrast, Brightness and Gamma further down). It depends on your monitor, so try it in a foggy zone and keep what looks right.

Write down your current look first

Prints render scale, contrast, brightness and gamma so you can put them back.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"RenderScale","Contrast","Brightness","Gamma"}) do print(n,C_CVar.GetCVar(n)) end

The Forever look: 98% scale, contrast 60, brightness 40

Icy Veins says 98% render scale cleans up the image and can save a few frames, and contrast 60 with brightness 40 makes the new fog stand out. One player post uses brightness 45. It depends on your monitor.

3 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console RenderScale 0.98
/console Contrast 60
/console Brightness 40

Undo: back to the game's defaults

Resets render scale, contrast and brightness to the client defaults. If you wrote down different values, type those instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"RenderScale","Contrast","Brightness"}) do local d=C_CVar.GetCVarDefault(n); if d then C_CVar.SetCVar(n,d) end end

Record first

Screenshot Settings > Graphics (Base, Raid and Advanced) before you touch anything. These read-only lines print your current values to chat.

Read your current foreground cap

Prints your current maxFPS cap to chat and changes nothing. The on/off switch for the cap (useMaxFPS) is a separate setting, so this alone does not tell you whether the cap is on.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("maxFPS", C_CVar.GetCVar("maxFPS"))

Read the game's default cap

Prints what the game thinks the default maxFPS is, and changes nothing. That is the game's default, not the value you had before, so write your own down too.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("maxFPS default", C_CVar.GetCVarDefault("maxFPS"))

Record cap switches, VSync and render scale

Prints six settings in one go: both FPS caps and their on/off switches, VSync and render scale. Write the results down before you change anything so you can put them back.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"useMaxFPS","maxFPS","useMaxFPSBk","maxFPSBk","vsync","RenderScale"}) do print(n,C_CVar.GetCVar(n)) end

Restore a recorded 120 FPS cap

Puts maxFPS back to 120. That is only an example: type whatever value you wrote down before tuning, not 120 because we said so.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console maxFPS 120

Reset one setting to the game's default

Asks the game for its default maxFPS and sets just that one setting back to it (swap in another name to reset a different setting). A default is not always what you had before, so if you wrote your old value down, type that instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run local n="maxFPS"; local d=C_CVar.GetCVarDefault(n); if d then C_CVar.SetCVar(n,d) end

Balanced starting profile

Native resolution, 100% render scale, 60 FPS while playing and 30 in the background, with combat effects kept readable.

Balanced starting profile

A readable starting profile: 60 FPS foreground, 30 background, 100% scale, Fair shadows/water, Medium particles, projected textures on, Low ambient occlusion, and moderate draw detail.

14 lines, 406 characters: too long for one macro. Type them one at a time in chat.

FPS, frame pacing and heat

Raise the cap only if your monitor and real frame rate make it worthwhile.

Test 90 FPS foreground / 30 background

Turns on both FPS caps: 90 while you are playing, 30 when the game is in the background. A cap cannot make a struggling PC reach 90; it just stops a fast one working harder and hotter than it needs to.

4 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console useMaxFPS 1
/console maxFPS 90
/console useMaxFPSBk 1
/console maxFPSBk 30

Turn the foreground cap off properly

Switches the foreground FPS cap off with its real switch, useMaxFPS 0. The old tip of setting maxFPS 0 is a guess; this is the actual switch, and your stored maxFPS number stays put for when you turn the cap back on.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console useMaxFPS 0

Disable Target FPS for a controlled test

Turns off Target FPS, a separate feature that is not the same thing as the FPS cap. Leave it as you found it unless it is muddying a before-and-after test; note its state first and put it back afterwards.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console useTargetFPS 0

Test VSync disabled

Turns the game's VSync off. It can feel more responsive but may show tearing, so compare it with your monitor and driver settings rather than assuming off is better.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console vsync 0

Enable VSync if tearing distracts

Turns the game's VSync back on if tearing bothers you. If you wrote down a different starting value, that is your real undo; no VSync choice is best for every monitor and driver.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console vsync 1

If FPS is still too low

Lower shadows and water first. Render scale is the last resort.

Lower-cost graphics experiment

Drops shadows and water to Low, turns ambient occlusion off, and lowers view distance, environment detail and ground clutter; the settings menu shows those three as 4, 4 and 2. Try one change at a time in the spot that was slow and keep only what actually helps.

6 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console graphicsShadowQuality 0
/console graphicsSSAO 0
/console graphicsViewDistance 3
/console graphicsEnvironmentDetail 3
/console graphicsGroundClutter 1
/console graphicsLiquidDetail 0

Try 85% render scale (last resort)

Sets render scale to 0.85, which is 85% in each direction and about 72% as many pixels to draw. Only use a value your Render Scale slider actually offers, and treat it as a last resort because it softens the picture.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RenderScale 0.85

Return to 100% render scale

Puts render scale back to 1 (100%) after the 85% test. If you started somewhere other than 100%, type your recorded value instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RenderScale 1

Keep combat cues visible

Healers need to see ground effects. Keep these on.

Preserve readable combat cues

Keeps projected textures on and particles at Medium so you can still see what is on the floor. Turning either off is a classic FPS-macro trick that can hide combat cues a healer needs.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console graphicsProjectedTextures 1
/console graphicsParticleDensity 3

Antialiasing

Try the cheap image-based option before expensive MSAA.

Antialiasing: None

Turns off both kinds of antialiasing (MSAAQuality and ffxAntiAliasingMode) so you can see how much they cost you. Write both values down first and put both back afterwards.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console MSAAQuality 0
/console ffxAntiAliasingMode 0

Antialiasing: FXAA Low test

Turns MSAA off and switches on FXAA Low (ffxAntiAliasingMode 1), the cheap way to smooth jagged edges. Compare it with None: you are trading a bit of blur for smoother edges.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console MSAAQuality 0
/console ffxAntiAliasingMode 1

Test 8x texture filtering

Sets textureFilteringMode 4, which is 8x anisotropic filtering (5 is 16x). It sharpens distant ground seen at an angle; it is not guaranteed to be free, so check your frame rate and put it back if it costs you.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console textureFilteringMode 4

Raid profile

Lower settings that switch on only in raids.

Optional lower-cost Raid profile

Turns on the separate Raid profile (RAIDsettingsEnabled 1) and gives it lighter settings for group content: Low shadows and water, Fair particles, projected textures on, ambient occlusion off, draw sliders showing 4/4/2, and High textures. If Fair particles hide something you need to see, bump them back to Medium in the Raid tab.

10 lines, 366 characters: too long for one macro. Type them one at a time in chat.
/console RAIDsettingsEnabled 1
/console raidGraphicsShadowQuality 0
/console raidGraphicsLiquidDetail 0
/console raidGraphicsParticleDensity 2
/console raidGraphicsProjectedTextures 1
/console raidGraphicsSSAO 0
/console raidGraphicsViewDistance 3
/console raidGraphicsEnvironmentDetail 3
/console raidGraphicsGroundClutter 1
/console raidGraphicsTextureResolution 2

Go back to the Base profile

Switches the Raid profile off so the game uses your Base settings everywhere again. It does not reset the Raid values themselves; they are just not in use.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RAIDsettingsEnabled 0

Responsiveness and latency

Input feel and network delay are separate from frame rate.

Optional cast on key down

Sets ActionButtonUseKeyDown 1 so your abilities fire when you press the key instead of when you let go, which can feel a touch snappier. Bars and addons that set their own useOnKeyDown behaviour can ignore it, and it does nothing for ping or FPS.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console ActionButtonUseKeyDown 1

Check whether SpellQueueWindow exists

Prints your current SpellQueueWindow value and changes nothing. We could not confirm from the Forever UI files that this setting exists or what it does here, so if it prints nil, leave it alone.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("SpellQueueWindow",C_CVar.GetCVar("SpellQueueWindow"))

Ask the game what SpellQueueWindow does

Asks the game for its own help text on SpellQueueWindow and prints it, changing nothing. If nothing comes back, the setting is not there and you can stop here.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,v in ipairs(ConsoleGetAllCommands()) do if v.command:lower()=="spellqueuewindow" then print(v.command,v.help) end end

Try a 300 ms spell queue (only if it exists)

Sets SpellQueueWindow to 300 ms. Only try it if the game confirmed the setting exists and you are coming down from a bigger value to chase a specific casting problem: it cannot lower your ping, and too small a window leaves gaps between casts, so compare and put it back if it feels worse.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console SpellQueueWindow 300

Read home and world latency

Prints your home and world latency in milliseconds, the same numbers the game's own performance indicator uses. It is one snapshot, not an average, and it changes nothing.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run local _,_,h,w=GetNetStats(); print("Home",h,"ms; World",w,"ms")

Renderer

See which graphics API you are running.

See your graphics API choices

Prints the graphics APIs your game can use, then which one is running right now and which one gxapi is asking for (they can differ until you restart). Stick with Auto unless you are chasing a real rendering problem, and only pick names the game listed.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/run print("Available:",GetGraphicsAPIs())
/run print("Current:",GetCurrentGraphicsAPI(),"Requested:",C_CVar.GetCVar("gxapi"))

Readability and accessibility

Cooldown numbers, nameplates, a bigger cursor and less screen shake.

Turn on helpful numbers in the default UI

Turns on cooldown countdown numbers, a target-of-target frame, and health and mana text shown as both numbers and percentages (statusText and statusTextDisplay work as a pair). Pure readability, no FPS change; addon frames may do their own thing.

4 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console countdownForCooldowns 1
/console showTargetOfTarget 1
/console statusText 1
/console statusTextDisplay BOTH

Optional enemy nameplates

Shows enemy nameplates, and shows them all the time rather than only in combat. Handy for picking out mobs; not an FPS trick.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console nameplateShowEnemies 1
/console nameplateShowAll 1

A bigger cursor (64x64)

Sets cursorSizePreferred 2, which asks for a 64x64 cursor that is easier to find over a wall of party frames. The other sizes are -1 Default, 0 32x32, 1 48x48, 3 96x96 and 4 128x128; pick one you can find without it covering the thing you want to click.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console cursorSizePreferred 2

Reduce camera and UI shake

Turns camera and UI shake down to a quarter strength (0.25 for both). A comfort setting, not a performance one; put both values back to undo.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console ShakeStrengthCamera 0.25
/console ShakeStrengthUI 0.25

Disable camera and UI shake

Turns camera and UI shake off completely (0 for both). Other effects that bother you may still be there; the Motion Sickness checkbox in Accessibility handles two more camera settings as a pair.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console ShakeStrengthCamera 0
/console ShakeStrengthUI 0

Use Alternate Screen Effects

Sets overrideScreenFlash 1, the same as ticking Alternate Screen Effects in Accessibility, which tones down screen flashes. It will not remove every uncomfortable effect, but it is the right first switch if flashes bother you.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console overrideScreenFlash 1

Measure

A one-off reading, not a benchmark. Compare in the same place.

Check your FPS right now

Prints your frame rate right now as a whole number. It is a single snapshot, not an average, so read it in the same spot before and after a change.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("FPS",math.floor(GetFramerate()+0.5))

Commands come from the original guide and were checked against the Forever client's settings code. No frame-rate gain is promised. If the game blocks /run, use the Settings menus instead.

Launch-day recheck

Re-test these on November 4. Official marks a Blizzard rule to confirm on live; client marks a beta-data claim or player report needing a live check.

Glossary

Warrior words in plain English. Era means a Classic Era mechanic that needs Forever testing; client means Forever's beta data.

Threat
An enemy keeps a running score of your actions. Higher threat makes it more likely to choose you. Exact Forever values need testing.
Aggro
Having an enemy focus its attacks on you. Threat is the score; aggro is the attention.
Rage
The warrior resource spent on abilities. Forever changes how weapon hits and incoming damage generate it.
Stance dancing
Switching stances to reach an ability, then returning when useful. Watch how much Rage the switch retains.
Tactical Mastery
Forever trained passive at 14 that retains up to 10 Rage on a stance change. The Arms talent can raise that to 25.
Overpower window
The time you can use Overpower after a qualifying trigger. Client Bloodthrill creates a 6-second window against your Rend target.
Execute phase
The end of a fight when the target is below 20% health and Execute becomes usable. Check the Forever tooltip.
Sunder stacks
Repeated Sunder Armor applications build up to five armor-reduction stacks. Confirm the Forever limit and debuff interactions.
2H versus DW
A two-handed weapon uses both hands for one weapon. Dual wield means a separate one-handed weapon in each hand.
White damage
Era name for ordinary auto-attack damage, usually shown as white combat text.
Yellow damage
Era name for ability damage, usually shown as yellow combat text. It can follow different hit rules from auto-attacks.
Glancing blows
Reduced-damage auto-attacks against higher-level creatures. Abilities do not glance; verify Forever rules before using Era math.
Hit cap
Enough hit chance to remove misses for an attack and target. Era specials and dual-wield swings have different caps; Forever off-hand talents do not prove a main-hand cap.
Defense cap
Era shorthand for enough Defense to prevent ordinary melee critical hits at a given enemy level. It does not prevent all damage or crushing blows; Forever targets need testing.
Crushing blows
Certain higher-level enemies can land melee hits for 150% normal damage. Verify which Forever bosses can do it.
Block value
How much damage a successful block removes. Different from block chance; Forever Shield Slam also scales from it.
Aggro reset
A mechanic that clears or changes enemy threat. Check the fight before assuming your old lead survives.
Taunt immunity
An enemy cannot be forced onto you by Taunt. Build threat normally and follow the encounter plan.
Pull
Starting a fight, often with a planned group of enemies.
Add
An extra enemy that joins the main fight.
CC
Crowd control: limiting an enemy with a stun, fear, slow, or similar effect. Different enemies resist different controls.
LoS
Line of sight. A wall or corner can stop a targeted ability reaching its target.
GCD
Global cooldown: the short shared pause after many abilities. A second press cannot skip it.
BiS
Best in slot: a strongest-item claim for a role and situation. A beta list is a shopping idea, not a guarantee.
Pre-raid
Gear or preparation available before entering raids.
Legacy
Forever account progression. Earn shared points, then choose perks separately for each character.
Talented
Legacy perk that unlocks talent points up to five levels early. These presets exclude it.
Era
Classic Era. Advice tagged Era has not been confirmed for Forever.
Forever
Blizzard Classic-based WoW on the modern client, launching November 4, 2026.
Beta cap
The beta maximum level: 30. Level-60 plans cannot be fully tested there.
DPS
Damage per second, or a player whose job is dealing damage.
Tank
The player who holds enemy attention and manages incoming damage.
Peel
Slow, stun, or distract an enemy attacking a teammate.
Interrupt
Stop an interruptible cast. Shield Bash is available at the beta cap; trainer Pummel is later.
Rage dump
An optional spender used when you have more Rage than your next important abilities need.
Proc
An effect that activates when its condition or random chance succeeds.
Cooldown
Time before an ability can be used again.
Fear Ward
A priest buff that prevents a fear. Coordinate it with your own fear tools.
Honor
Forever currency earned from PvP and spent on rewards. Rank Points advance rank separately.
Wipe
The group dies. Take the short lesson, repair, and try again after the bedtime check.
