Bind a macro in a minute

  1. Type /macro while out of combat.
  2. Pick the tab with your hunter's name so the macro stays on this character.
  3. Click New, type the short name shown on the card, and pick the red question-mark icon: it lets #showtooltip show the real spell icon.
  4. Click Copy on the card, paste into the big box, and click Save.
  5. Drag the macro onto an action bar and bind that slot in Options > Keybindings.
  6. Test it out of combat with every modifier listed on the card.

Before you rely on a key. These macros are checked against Blizzard's Forever posts and the Forever client's own UI code, but none has been run in the game yet. Test each one out of combat first. Checked against build 1.60.1.70374 on Oct 15, 2026.

What Forever changed for hunters

Blizzard's Hunter and Druid deep dive, beta notes through October 8, and Wowhead's Forever client trees separate announced changes from tooltip details.

Aimed ShotEvery hunter learns it at 20; Arcane Shot now has a separate cooldown.
Multi-ShotNow shares its cooldown with Aimed Shot.
Freezing TrapTraps work in combat, at your feet. Fire and Frost traps have separate 30-second cooldowns.
Scorpid StingNow lowers enemy hit chance by 2%, replacing the Strength and Agility penalty.
DisengageThreat reduction doubled, with the missing increase fixed October 8. It is not a backward leap.
Aspect of the BeastNow grants melee attack power as well as its tracking benefit.
Deadly AspectsReplaces Improved Aspect of the Hawk. Forever's tooltip adds melee attack-speed procs with Aspect of the Beast.
Predator's EdgeNew melee talent in Forever's tree: five ranks add 30% melee critical strike damage and 50% off-hand damage. Savage Strikes now covers all melee abilities, although the tree says critical chance where the deep dive says damage.
Focused FireNew two-rank talent: up to 2% more damage for you and your pet while the pet is active. Endurance Training now combines pet health and armor, reaching 15% of each at 5/5.
Summon HawkNew 16-point talent in Forever's tree. Hawks last 18 seconds, with at most two active, and share Arcane Shot's cooldown.
Bestial DisciplineForever's tooltip adds hunter mana regeneration while spending mana, alongside pet Focus regeneration.
Careful AimNew talent converting up to 100% of Intellect into attack power. Lethal Attacks replaces Lethal Shots and now affects all attacks.
Lone WolfNew 11-point talent: 20% more damage with your attacks while no pet is active.
Trueshot AuraForever's tree puts it at 16 points; the deep dive calls it 21 points. Mortal Shots now requires Careful Aim 5/5.
Rapid RecuperationNew talent requiring Rapid Killing 2/2: Serpent Sting hits and consuming Rapid Killing allow mana regeneration while spending mana. Rapid Killing also shortens Rapid Fire and boosts the next shot after a qualifying kill.
Sniper ShotNew 31-point talent requiring Trueshot Aura. Beta notes confirm 45-yard base range and a follow-up range bonus.
Improved TrackingReplaces separate creature-slaying talents, adding up to 5% damage against the tracked creature type. Surefooted now helps all attacks hit and shortens movement-impairing effects in Forever's tree.
EntrapmentNow roots on trap activation; ranks increase duration. October 8 fixed diminishing returns and repeated Frost Trap triggers.
Strider KickNew 21-point melee strike; October 1 added 30% movement speed for three seconds. The nearby client talents Resourcefulness and Survivalist's Discipline reduce melee and trap mana costs, enable mana regeneration, or shorten trap and Deterrence cooldowns.
Lacerating StrikesNew 31-point talent requiring Expose Prey 2/2. Forever's tooltip adds a Mongoose Bite bleed; Expose Prey activates Mongoose Bite against your marked target.

#showtooltip Hunter's Mark
/cast [harm,nodead] Hunter's Mark

Notes and test 4
  • This starts a fight; do not use it just to mark a control target.
  • The pet can run in even if the mark fails; check the route first.
  • Auto Shot needs a ranged weapon and matching ammo; do not mash the mark.
  • Hunter's Mark is learned at 6; the full macro needs your pet unlock at 10.

Keep the pet on the guest list

6 macros

Attack, recall and park deserve easy keys. Passive pets still follow explicit attack orders.

Attack or come home

Send the pet precisely, then recall it before it finds more trouble.

/petpassive [mod:shift]
/petfollow [mod:shift]
/petattack [nomod:shift,@mouseover,harm,nodead][nomod:shift,harm,nodead]
Notes and test 2
  • The mouseover attack leaves your selected target alone.
  • Passive stops automatic retaliation; a later attack command still works.

TestOut of combat with no enemy selected or under your mouse, press Shift and check that the pet follows in passive mode.

Lv 10Client data

TestOut of combat, watch the pet bar while trying plain press and Shift.

Growl, chosen enemy

Request one Growl on a chosen enemy.

Growl

Lv 10Client data
Press
With a pet present, request Growl on your living enemy mouseover, else your living enemy target.
76/255
#showtooltip Growl
/cast [pet,@mouseover,harm,nodead][pet,harm,nodead] Growl
Notes and test 3
  • This does not change Growl autocast; use the pet bar for that.
  • Your pet must know Growl and have range and Focus; do not compete with the dungeon tank.
  • The class-wide spell list first lists Growl at 20; pet training can have separate unlocks, so check your pet spellbook.

TestOut of combat with no enemy selected or under your mouse, compare the tooltip with the pet spellbook.

Sources: Hunter spell data · Forever UI code

Send and Bite

Give a pet that knows Bite an attack order and a manual Bite request.

Bite

Lv 10Client data

Send your pet to your living enemy mouseover, else enemy target, and request Bite on that same unit.
123/255
#showtooltip Bite
/petattack [@mouseover,harm,nodead][harm,nodead]
/cast [pet,@mouseover,harm,nodead][pet,harm,nodead] Bite
Notes and test 3
  • Teach Bite to a compatible pet first; the macro cannot train it.
  • The attack order can work even when Bite fails on range, Focus or cooldown.
  • Requires the level-10 pet unlock and a pet that knows Bite; pet ability ranks have separate requirements.

TestOut of combat with no enemy target or mouseover, compare Bite with your pet spellbook without sending the pet.

87/255
#showtooltip Intimidation
/petattack [harm,nodead]
/cast [pet,harm,nodead] Intimidation
Notes and test 4
  • The stun needs the pet to land its next successful attack; pressing this is not an instant stun at your location.
  • The attack order can work even when the talent fails on mana or cooldown.
  • Do not use it on an enemy the group wants left alone.
  • Intimidation is a row-4 Beast Mastery talent: level 30 with ordinary points from 10, all spent in that tree; take its prerequisites too. Bestial Swiftness is its required prerequisite.

TestOut of combat with no target, compare the tooltip and check that Intimidation and Bestial Swiftness are both talented.

Notes and test 2
  • An absent pet and a dead pet are different problems; this does not detect which happened.
  • Ctrl cannot revive a living pet, and Call Pet cannot revive a dead one.

TestOut of combat with a living pet dismissed, press normally and confirm that it returns.

Notes and test 3
  • Put suitable pet food in the first slot of your main backpack before using this.
  • Your pet must be alive, close and able to eat that food; fighting interrupts feeding.
  • If Feed Pet fails, /use can still use the item normally; never keep potions or gear in that slot.

  • For Lone Wolf, dismiss the pet deliberately instead of hiding dismissal in a shot key.

TestOut of combat with a living pet beside you, press once and confirm it is dismissed.

Your pet

Your pet is a teammate with a food budget. Start with a nearby companion, learn its controls and keep it alive; beta rankings can change before the next dad finishes bedtime.

Bring home your first pet

  1. At 10, visit your hunter trainer for the local taming chain and finish the city follow-up.
  2. Bring food for your permanent companion; the practice beasts are temporary.
  3. Choose a tameable beast at or below your level and clear nearby enemies.
  4. Stable your current pet before taming a replacement.
  5. Put Attack, Follow and Passive on keys and test them on one safe enemy.
  6. Visit the pet trainer, open Beast Training and teach eligible abilities.

Family quick reference

  • BoarCharge pins a target; a convenient Durotar leveling companion.
  • CatProwl improves an opening attack; fast-cat beta rankings are bug-sensitive.
  • BatSonic Blast slows casting; beta notes fixed its availability.
  • WolfFurious Howl supplies melee Attack Power; its beta bonus was reduced.
  • Carrion BirdDemoralizing Screech weakens nearby melee attacks; watch control.
  • TurtleShell Shield trades attack speed for survival.
  • FoxNew Forever family with Trickster's Dance.

Keep your partner ready

  • Tame safely. The October beta notes forbid taming above your level. Ask friends not to attack or pull attention away during the channel; use the quest rod for practice tames.
  • Pick a nearby leveling partner.A Durotar boar or Mulgore cat is a practical start. Classic Era boars are forgiving and cats deal strong damage; Forever's best family depends on changed abilities and fixes.
  • Treat fast-cat rankings as temporary. The Forever level-30 Beast Mastery guide recommends The Rake or another fast cat with Claw rank 4 because of current bugs. A nearby leveled cat is fine; do not spend every bedtime camping one spawn.
  • Choose dungeon utility deliberately.A bat's casting slow or boar's pinning charge may help. Check the current tooltip and immunities before promising a boss interrupt.
  • Keep area attacks away from control.Bear Swipe and Gorilla Thunderstomp need care around traps. A manageable pet beats a theoretical damage winner that wakes the room.
  • Do not crown a raid winner yet.Compare pet survival and missing family effects after level-60 testing. Furious Howl benefits melee Attack Power and was reduced in beta; the old wolf-versus-cat ranking may change.
  • Learn, then teach. The Classic Era method is to stable your pet, tame a beast with a useful ability rank and use it until you learn that rank. Beast Training teaches eligible pets; pet trainers supply Growl and defensive passives. Verify changed family skills in Forever.
  • Know where to look. For Classic Era Bite rank 2, try Prairie Wolf Alpha in Mulgore. Durotar's Scorpid supplies early Claw; Savannah Huntress in the Barrens is an Era Claw rank 2 source. Check Beast Lore and current beta data before traveling for higher ranks. Elder Ashenvale Bear is a Classic Era Claw rank 4 source; verify its current ability before taming.
  • Feed before trouble.Use food your pet accepts and watch happiness. Feeding is described by the beta guide; loyalty and training points are Classic Era guidance until checked in your pet window. Do not assume retail rules.
  • Use the stable.Store favorites and check retrieved pets' levels and abilities. Forever stable capacity is unverified; read the window instead of planning around an Era slot count.
  • Use Beast Training. No separate spendable Forever pet talent tree was verified. Hunter talents such as Unleashed Fury and Improved Mend Pet belong to your own Beast Mastery tree.
  • Check the new pet panel.Pets scale from hunter gear; player stat buffs no longer apply directly. A beta guide reports pet avoidance; still recall your companion from danger and handle its recovery.
  • Know the petless exception.Lone Wolf rewards having no active pet in the Forever talent data. Coordinate the lost pet utility before accepting a tanking or control job.
  • Learn the new family rules.Forever lets every family learn Bite or Claw, sometimes both, plus Dash or Dive. Check eligible ranks in Beast Training; old Era family restrictions no longer tell the whole story.

Talents and Legacy

Splits read Beast Mastery / Marksmanship / Survival. Talents start at 10: 21 points at the beta cap of 30 and 51 at 60 without Talented. These are legal client-tree plans, not measured damage rankings. Level-60 plans are untested. The October 14 data controls names, ranks, gates, and prerequisites: Wowhead. Respec at a capital-city class trainer; dual specialization opens at 40.

Legacy picks for a hunter

Legacy normally opens when a character on your account reaches 25; Blizzard also lists profession and exploration routes. Earn points account-wide, then spend them separately on each character, up to 16 at launch. Buy these leveling picks as points become available.

  1. Well RestedFaster rested XP and a larger bank suit short evening sessions. Take 5/5 before Talented in the client calculator.5 points
  2. TalentedEach rank starts talents one level earlier, down to level 5 at 5/5. That gives 26 points at 30; the client ceiling remains 51.5 points
  3. Thrill of AdventureQualifying outdoor killing blows restore health and mana. Check pet finishing blows before relying on it; it does not work in instances.5 points
  4. Field MedicineOne rank shortens Recently Bandaged outdoors. A safe bandage saves food and time.1 point
  5. The Quick and the DeadAn alternative for faster corpse runs and free helpful abilities after resurrection until combat. Replace other picks when it suits your nights.2 points

The first four picks total 16. Costs, gates, and detailed effects use client data at foreverdb.net; check the live panel. Opening Legacy does not award 16 launch points. Talented changes early access, not the level-60 total. Reagent Economy is not a confirmed answer to ammunition costs. Official overview: Blizzard's news site.

Leveling and dungeons

Level with a ranged weapon, a fed pet and enough ammunition to get home. The beta ends at 30; higher-level quests and drops marked as Era are a Classic Era plan with Forever availability still to check.

Horde route, 1 to 60

Finish your starting zone, then follow these Horde routes and dungeon stops. Visit your hunter trainer at 10 for pet training; Beast Mastery is a comfortable starting choice when the family schedule leaves little practice time.

Quest rewards not to miss

These are suggested working levels, not minimum acceptance levels; bring help for elite objectives. Durotar and Mulgore taming chains are listed in Forever, but no Tirisfal hunter taming chain was verified, and Undead cannot be hunters in Blizzard's table; Horde Skyborne training details still need confirmation. Database listings do not guarantee post-beta quest availability.

Not confirmed. No source shows a Desolace raptor grind in Forever. The Horde counterpart players remember is the Venomhide Ravasaur from Un'Goro Crater, which arrived in Wrath of the Lich King. Forever's database lists the mount and its faction, but not how to get them.

Ranks you can skip

  • Your shots first: Arcane Shot, Serpent Sting and Aimed Shot or Multi-Shot ranks.
  • Mend Pet ranks keep your pet, and your repair bill, alive.
  • Raptor Strike and Mongoose Bite ranks can wait if you keep enemies at range.
  • Buy ammunition before training: an empty quiver costs more than a missed rank.
  • If gold is tight before your mount, delay trap and aspect ranks, never your main shots.

Gear and consumables

Upgrade your bow, gun or crossbow first. Then add Agility, useful attack power and enough health for the pull you meant to make. These Horde picks separate beta tooltips from Classic Era plans. Gaming after bedtime, with a pet who never asks for the remote.

What stats matter, and when

StageWhat to stackWhy
Leveling 1 to 19Ranged weapon DPS, then Agility and StaminaA better ranged weapon speeds up every kill. In Classic Era, Strength improves melee attacks, not your shots. Keep enough health for pulls your pet cannot hold.
Leveling 20 to 30Ranged weapon upgrades, Agility, attack power, Stamina and some IntellectAimed Shot is baseline at 20 in Blizzard's deep dive, and pets now scale from hunter gear. Intellect buys more shots between drinks. Spell power is not a general bonus to every shot.
Leveling 31 to 59Keep upgrading your ranged weapon; add hit and crit without losing useful statsAbove beta these are Era priorities. Compare Forever tooltips as you level. Train Mail before buying mail armor; good leather remains worth comparing for damage.
Ranged DPS at 60Hit until your build stops missing, then Agility, attack power and crit; compare ranged weapons directlyThe Era reference is 9 percent ranged hit against a level-63 boss at ordinary weapon skill. Forever caps need testing. Count Surefooted and racial effects first. Careful Aim converts Intellect into attack power, so builds using it need different weights.

Gear to aim for by 30

Every equip requirement below is 30 or less. Quest minimums and boss levels can still make a piece hard to earn. Numbers follow Wowhead Forever tooltips, including the shared cached responses. Wear leather or cloth at 30; low-level mail is not hunter gear yet. New Brawler crafts bind on pickup. Choose two one-handed weapons or one two-hander, plus your ranged weapon. Trinkets are extras, not a required bedtime marathon.

Best weapon at every level

Upgrade your bow, gun or crossbow first for ranged Beast Mastery and Marksmanship; melee Survival also needs a hard-hitting melee weapon. This is a practical target ladder using known beta items and marked Classic Era fallbacks, because a complete Forever best-in-slot ranking is unverified.

A practical Classic Era pre-raid shopping list for ranged damage, with Forever records and explicit gaps. These are launch plans above the level-30 beta cap, not a confirmed Forever best-in-slot set. Two Dawn's Edge axes are one option; Peacemaker replaces both. Fractional hit values, set bonuses, talents and racials can change the best combination. Do not book November around a drop rate.

Hunter in groups

Hunter in groups: deliver the pull the tank asked for, keep the spare enemy on ice and control your pet. These Classic Era habits are a starting plan for Forever; good small jobs keep Gaming after bedtime from becoming Repairs before breakfast.

Set up your screen

  1. Show enemy nameplates, raid marks and cast bars; make Square easy to spot.
  2. Enable Target of Target so you can see who an enemy is chasing.
  3. Put pet Attack, Follow, Stay and Passive on reachable keys; show pet health.
  4. Right-click Growl to turn autocast off before joining a tank; check again after swapping pets.
  5. Bind Freezing Trap, Concussive Shot and Feign Death separately; the client lists the trap at 20 and Feign Death at 30.
  6. Show healer mana and ammunition count; bind Tranquilizing Shot once learned, listed at 60 in the client.

Raid marks

  • SkullKill first after the tank has control; send the pet here.
  • CrossKill second; switch together when Skull is finished.
  • SquareYour Freezing Trap target if assigned; no pet or damage-over-time effects.
  • MoonUsually another player's crowd control; keep shots and pet clear.
  • StarAn assigned slow, kite or special target; agree what it means before pulling.

Habits that keep the group alive

  • Pull for the tank, with permission.Agree the target and landing spot, send the pet to Follow, fire one shot and bring the enemy back. Skip Serpent Sting on anything headed for a trap; this is the Classic Era pulling plan.
  • Growl stays off.Let the tank hold the group. Use pet Passive and manual Attack when pathing or crowd control is tight; turn Growl on for solo questing afterward.
  • Square gets the cold seat.Confirm your mark, place Freezing Trap at your feet and lead the enemy into it. Forever allows traps in combat, but you cannot place them across the room.
  • Protect the trap.Keep your pet, Multi-Shot and damage-over-time effects off the controlled target. Call a break or resist early; another player cannot read your panic face.
  • Wait before spreading damage.Let the tank collect the pack, then use area damage only when safe. Aimed Shot and Multi-Shot share a cooldown in Forever, so choose the right one.
  • Handle the assigned enrage.Use Tranquilizing Shot on a removable frenzy when it is your turn, then call a miss for the backup. The Era tome came from Lucifron; the Forever client lists the spell at 60, but live acquisition needs checking.
  • Feign before the sprint. If you pull threat, stop damage and use Feign Death when trained; check that it worked before resuming. This Era threat tool can fail; do not run enemies through the healer.
  • Pack is a travel agreement.Use Aspect of the Pack only when everyone agrees the path is safe, then turn it off before contact. Its Classic Era damage-triggered daze can punish the party; confirm the current Forever tooltip.
  • Pay your own small bills.Feed and mend your pet, drink at safe breaks and bandage when appropriate. Do not ask the healer to spend the next pull's mana fixing avoidable pet damage.
  • Recall before the shortcut.Dismiss before jumps or lifts if the pet may take the long way. Wait for a safe landing before calling it; this Classic Era habit prevents a surprise parade.
  • Leave room to shoot.Keep a retreat lane and avoid backing into the next pack. Forever still has the ranged dead zone inside 8 yards; reposition before losing your shot options.
  • Bring the right utility.Match tracking to the enemy if you have Improved Tracking. Agree slows, traps and pet effects with the tank; check the actual ability before promising an interrupt.

Which ability when

Pick the button that solves the problem, then leave mana and space for the next one. Levels use the client list; talent abilities require their build, and level-60 choices remain plans to test.

SituationAt 30At 60Why
One leveling enemySend the pet, then Auto Shot; add Serpent Sting if its ticks will help. Aimed Shot trains at 20; Beast Mastery can talent Summon Hawk.Keep the safe start with current ranks; add talented Sniper Shot only when its cast is safe.Pet-first pulling and cheap finishes are era habits; compare new buttons with live damage.
Several enemiesUse Multi-Shot from 18 only when every possible target is safe to hit. Frost Trap from 28 buys space.Add Volley from 40 and Explosive Trap from 34 when the tank holds the pack and positioning is safe.Aimed Shot shares Multi-Shot's cooldown. Keep damage away from controlled enemies.
A caster winds upUse cover or talented Scatter Shot or Intimidation when eligible. A bat's Sonic Blast slows casting.Keep those choices and coordinate with someone who has a true interrupt. You lack a baseline interrupt; slows and breakable control do not stop every cast.
An enemy runsUse Concussive Shot from 8 at range or Wing Clip from 12 in melee, then finish safely.Use current ranks and watch other packs; talented Counterattack can root after a parry.Stopping a runner can prevent an add. Counterattack needs a parry.
Your health is lowSlow or trap, use a health potion, and let the pet regain attention. Feign Death from 30 helps with NPC threat.Keep an escape route; talented Deterrence provides melee avoidance. Seek a safe heal or bandage.Deterrence is not general damage immunity. Bandaging needs a safe window, an era habit to retest.
Mana is lowFavor Auto Shot and pet damage. Stop unnecessary casts and drink between safe pulls.Use Efficiency, Bestial Discipline, Rapid Recuperation, or Resourcefulness only if included in your talents. The client trees have different mana tools; no hunter automatically has all four.
A dungeon pullRecall the pet, mark the agreed enemy, and use one controlled ranged attack. Prepare Freezing Trap if assigned.Repeat the setup and confirm the tank's signal and a safe return route.A clean pull gives the tank space and the healer a quiet opening.
Changing NPC attentionUse Feign Death or Disengage for less threat, pet Growl for solo pet tanking, and Distracting Shot only for an agreed rescue.Use current ranks; disable Growl autocast in ordinary tank-led groups and give rescued enemies back safely.Disengage does not move you; Distracting Shot is not a routine damage button.
A teammate in troubleSlow the attacker or put Freezing Trap in its path at your feet. Call the control and stop pet damage on that target.Use the same tools and talented control; move toward the tank in PvE or cover in PvP.Buy the teammate time. Keeping damage over time off breakable control is an era habit to retest.
A PvP openerMark and slow from range. Keep a path backward and save a trap for the approach; Lone Wolf has no pet bodyguard.Use Flare from 32 against suspected stealth; consider Viper Sting from 36 for a mana target.Choose pressure or control for the opponent. Some tools unlock above the beta cap.

Raids in Forever

  • Raids open December 9, 2026: Onyxia's Lair for 40, Barrow Deeps for 10 and Hyjal Summit for 20; launch is November 4.
  • The beta cap is 30, so level-60 hunter tactics below are not Forever-tested.
  • Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit boss names below come from Forever's beta data; mechanics and kill order are unconfirmed.
  • Other retained Classic raids have no verified Forever opening dates; keep them as later plans.
  • Use Classic Era instructions only where the leader has checked the mechanic; these are not TBC or retail encounters.
  • Quantities are suggested supplies for a night; check Forever consumable cooldowns and stacking.
  • The client lists Tranquilizing Shot at 60; the Classic Era Lucifron tome route is not confirmed for Forever.
  • Pet utility and damage need live raid testing; agree a petless Lone Wolf choice before assigning pet jobs.

Before the raid: assignments

  1. Agree who pulls, who backs up the pull and where the tank wants each pack delivered.
  2. Set the Tranquilizing Shot order and backup for misses whenever the encounter has a removable frenzy.
  3. Assign traps, kites and pet utility; confirm petless Lone Wolf hunters can cover accepted jobs.

Before every pull

  1. Check ammunition, mana, repairs and your useful aspect; turn Aspect of the Pack off.
  2. Feed and recover the pet, turn Growl autocast off and check its position or dismissal.
  3. Confirm Skull, trap or kite marks and the pull landing spot.
  4. Put Hunter's Mark on the agreed target and match tracking if using Improved Tracking.
  5. Check line of sight and range for damage or Tranquilizing Shot; tell the backup if you cannot cover it.
  6. Wait for the ready call and tank control; keep pet movement and the escape lane clear.

Hunter jobs by raid size

RaidHuntersWho does what
10 players: Barrow Deeps1 to 2 hunters, suggestedOne handles agreed pulls and control; a second backs up utility while both deal damage. Boss-specific duties are unknown.
20 players: Hyjal Summit, Zul'Gurub, AQ202 to 3 hunters, suggestedName a puller and backup; split kites and removable-frenzy coverage where relevant. Hyjal duties need Forever testing; later raids use Era plans.
40 players: Onyxia, Molten Core and later3 to 4 hunters, suggestedShare pulls, pet management and special targets. Use an ordered Tranquilizing Shot team on relevant Era bosses; Onyxia needs positioning and damage rather than an invented frenzy job.

These are Dad Bods planning suggestions, not required Forever class counts; Classic Era utility jobs and Tranquilizing Shot acquisition must be checked when each raid opens.

  6. Fankriss the Unyielding Kill the called worm quickly and do not drag tunnel insects into the group.
  7. Viscidus Help freeze with the assigned frost-proc weapon plan, then land fast melee hits to shatter; hunters cannot use wands.
  8. Princess Huhuran Rotate Tranquilizing Shot on removable Frenzy; only join the closest poison-soak group if assigned.
  9. Emperor Vek'lor Do not shoot the physical-immune caster twin; stay clear of bugs and teleports.
  10. Emperor Vek'nilash Damage the physical twin, stop through swaps and leave mutated bugs alone unless called.
  11. Ouro Avoid Sand Blast, Sweep and burrow trails; recall the pet during unsafe transitions.
  12. C'Thun Spread at the assigned spacing, move from Dark Glare and kill the called tentacles.

Bring for Naxxramas

Bosses, in a common order

  1. Patchwerk Shoot from range and stay below the tank on threat; this is not a pet-tanking job.
  2. Grobbulus Drop Mutating Injection at the assigned edge and move away from poison; do not ask for a dispel.
  3. Gluth Rotate Tranquilizing Shot and help kite zombies with Frost Trap if assigned; kill them after Decimate.
  4. Thaddius Follow your polarity group immediately; recall the pet if its position causes trouble.
  5. Noth the Plaguebringer Kill assigned skeleton adds and pause when the boss returns until the tank has him.
  6. Heigan the Unclean Follow the safe dance route; stop shooting when movement is required.
  7. Loatheb Take only your assigned spore and follow the self-heal and shadow-potion timing.
  8. Anub'Rekhan Stay out of Locust Swarm and handle assigned adds; keep the pet on a safe target.
  9. Grand Widow Faerlina Follow the worshipper-control plan; Tranquilizing Shot does not replace the required enrage suppression.
  10. Maexxna Free wrapped players quickly when assigned and handle spiderlings on the call.
  11. Instructor Razuvious Damage the boss after the controlled Understudy takes over; do not kill the priest's tank.
  12. Gothik the Harvester Stay on your assigned side and follow the add order; avoid accidental pet crossings.
  13. Highlord Mograine Rotate at the assigned Mark count and keep the pet with your current target.
  14. Thane Korth'azz Stack with the assigned Meteor group and rotate at the called Mark count.
  15. Lady Blaumeux Leave Void Zones immediately and rotate before your Mark stack becomes lethal.
  16. Sir Zeliek Respect Holy Wrath spacing and the rotation; do not chase shots through another group.
  17. Sapphiron Avoid Blizzard and hide behind an iceblock for Frost Breath; check pet position before each air phase.
  18. Kel'Thuzad Spread, leave Shadow Fissures and switch to called targets; keep Multi-Shot away from controlled players.

Reputations

Earn reputation alongside the content you enjoy, then spend for a hunter upgrade or a recipe you will use. Forever entries separate confirmed systems from unverified rewards, while Era entries remain later plans until those factions and raids are checked.

FactionWhat you getHow to earn itWhen
Durotar Supply and Logistics UnverifiedCrafting access can help a hunter, but exact hunter recipe costs and standing requirements need checking; Merchant's Favor is currency, not reputation.Fill Waylaid Crates and visit the Horde trade hub west of the Crossroads; compare Leatherworking and Alchemy recipes with your professions.Start during leveling; check the vendor before buying crate materials.
Darkspear RaidersRevered Darkspear Raider's Reaper is a listed melee Survival option; Exalted Raider Gloves and Raider Handguards are leather and mail targets to compare, not guaranteed best items.Play Darkspear Islands and its quests or Marks of Honor turn-ins; check the level version sold by Creeg Bothunk. As you play battlegrounds; reward versions have different level requirements.
Argent Dawn Era dataClassic Era resistance shoulder enchants and eventual Naxxramas entry discounts are useful; neither is a December hunter requirement.Do Plaguelands quests, Stratholme and Scholomance; wear the Argent Dawn Commission for Scourgestones under the Era system.Around 50 to 60 alongside dungeon gearing; Forever requirements are unverified.

Hunter tips

Keep the pet safe, leave space to shoot, and save mana for trouble. Talent details use the Forever client tree; older habits carry an era tag in the text. Hunter deep dive: Blizzard's news site. Classic reference: Icy Veins. Live Wowhead spell pages required JavaScript during research, so trainer levels use the client list. Horde racial source: Blizzard's news site.

Leveling

  • Let the pet get there. Send the pet first, then start Auto Shot. This era habit reduces the chance that opening damage brings the enemy straight to you.
  • Spend the sting wisely. Use Serpent Sting when the enemy will live long enough for its ticks. Finish tiny health bars with Auto Shot; this is era resource advice.
  • Keep room behind you. Fight with a clear escape route. A second pack behind your boots is not an emergency exit.

Mana and pet Focus

  • Two different bars. You spend mana; your pet spends Focus. The Bestial Discipline talent helps both through regeneration. Do not import a modern Focus-spending hunter rotation.
  • Use the cheap finish. Auto Shot costs no mana in Era. Leave safe gaps between mana spends and compare recovery in Forever before trusting old five-second-rule timings.
  • Drink before empty. Tell the group you need a pause. Efficiency discounts shots, stings, and melee abilities in Forever's tree.

Pets are a class system

  • Choose a useful family. Blizzard gives each family a unique tool: bats slow casting and boars close distance. Pick for the job instead of importing an Era damage ranking.
  • Check care and training. Use Feed Pet, Mend Pet, and Revive Pet as needed. Food preferences, happiness, loyalty, and learning skills from tamed beasts are era expectations until checked in Forever.
  • Test gear changes on the pet. Blizzard says pets scale with hunter gear and no longer receive player stat buffs. Exact inheritance and family balance need live measurements.

Dungeons

  • Give Growl a night off. Turn off pet Growl autocast when the tank should hold enemies. Check again after changing pets; this is an era group habit.
  • Recall before shortcuts. Bring the pet back before jumping ledges or squeezing past packs. Dismiss it when the route is risky; pet pathing needs a Forever test.
  • Choose the right shot. Aimed Shot and Multi-Shot share a cooldown in Forever. Avoid Multi-Shot near controlled enemies or unpulled packs.

Group habits

  • Call the trap target. Agree which enemy needs control before anyone adds damage over time. Keep the pet off that target.
  • Bring loose enemies home. Move toward the tank when you pull threat. Feign Death is listed at 30 and can fail, so keep moving if it does.
  • Pull when asked. Check the healer and agree where the tank wants the enemy. Gaming after bedtime goes better when everyone starts ready.

Forever practice

  • Place traps with your feet. Combat traps appear at your location. The client list has Freezing Trap at 20 for one enemy and Frost Trap at 28 for space.
  • Respect the dead zone. Blizzard keeps ranged attacks unavailable within eight yards. Wing Clip and movement make space; Disengage reduces threat instead of launching you backward.
  • Watch shared cooldowns. Summon Hawk competes with Arcane Shot. Improved Arcane Shot explicitly does not shorten the shared abilities in Forever's tooltip.
  • Read the actual panel. The deep dive and tree disagree on Trueshot Aura placement and Savage Strikes wording. These builds use the tree; do not combine both versions.

Horde choices

  • Orc. Blood Fury boosts attack and spell power 10% for 15 seconds. Shatter Curse gives eight seconds of curse and bane immunity plus magic protection. Axe Specialization adds 1% ability and spell crit with axes; Hardiness cuts stun duration 20%.
  • Tauren. War Stomp stuns nearby enemies for two seconds. Cultivation grows herbs without Herbalism. Plainsrunning rewards sustained movement; Endurance adds 5% health and 1% hit.
  • Troll. Berserking gives 10% attack and casting speed for ten seconds. Rapid Regeneration heals half your maximum health over time. Beast Slaying adds 5% beast damage; Regeneration keeps 10% health regeneration in combat.
  • Windshaper Skyborne. Blizzard's table allows Horde hunters here too. Walk on Air glides for ten seconds; Skysight adds 10% run speed. Wind Blessed gives 1% haste; Elemental Insight adds 5% damage against Elementals.

Addons and UI

Start with Blizzard's own tools, then add only what helps you watch threat, your pet and your shots. Readable bars beat a cockpit.

  • Default raid-style party frames Works in Forever

Professions for hunters

Skinning and Leatherworking turns quest kills into gear. Mining and Engineering buys extra buttons. Herbalism and Alchemy keeps consumables coming. Pick the pair you will use, then learn First Aid and Cooking alongside it.

Which pair to pick

ProfessionsWhyBest for
Skinning and LeatherworkingGather leather along your normal route and make new Brawler pieces. Many new crafts bind on pickup, so a guildmate cannot make those for you. Patterns, gems and camping stations add cost. Tradeable Devilsaur gear can be bought later without keeping Leatherworking.Leveling with your pet and making your own upgrades
Mining and EngineeringMine metal for bombs and utility gadgets. Guns and scopes help hunters, but most are tradeable and do not require the profession to use. Many gadgets require Engineering, use charges or can fail. Expect crowded bags and a materials bill.Dungeon utility, PvP and dads who enjoy a spare button
Herbalism and AlchemyGather herbs, make mana potions and Agility elixirs, or sell the extras. Healing potions moved to First Aid, so Alchemy is not required for basic self-healing. Gathering takes time and desirable recipes can be scarce.Keeping consumables stocked and earning gold on the way

Engineering: parts and useful gadgets through 225

Keep the parts for later recipes. Scopes and guns are tradeable, so you can buy those without keeping Engineering.

Minor Recombobulator140Charged utility trinket. Requires Engineering 140 to use.

The Forever route is provisional. Materials are per craft; yellow recipes may need extras. Train before crossing each profession cap. Artisan needs character level 35, beyond beta. Mechanical Dragonling has conflicting item and activation levels, so it is not a level-30 default. A recipe on Wowhead does not prove its beta vendor is reachable.

Stop this beta route at 210: the current guide places Nightscape Pants at 210 to 225 but lists their trainers behind level-35 Artisan training. Finish only after checking the launch trainer. New BoP gear must be crafted on the hunter who will wear it.

Tips

  • Learn Skinning early if you choose it. Skin what you already kill instead of turning every evening into a separate farming shift.
  • The Horde supply camp near the Crossroads uses Merchant's Favor. Compare pattern costs and reputation requirements before filling crates.
  • Orc, Tauren, Troll and Horde Skyborne can be hunters in Blizzard's current Forever race table. This profession advice works for all four.
  • Learn First Aid on any profession pair. It now crafts healing potions, disease poultices and bleed tourniquets as well as bandages.
  • Carry a Skinning Knife when skinning. Keep Engineering tools and crafting stations in mind before a shopping trip.
  • Buy ammunition matching your ranged weapon. Quivers and ammo pouches are separate from this planner's 16 slots; their speed effects are not scored.
  • Feed your pet food its family actually eats. A full bag of your dinner does not help a picky cat.
  • Skulker's Leather Belt currently lists only an Ironforge pattern vendor. A tradeable pattern might cross factions, but that route is unconfirmed, so it is not a Horde default here.

Best enchants for a hunter

Start with an affordable scope, cheap Agility enchants and movement speed. Save expensive services for gear you will keep. Effects follow readable Forever records; an Era label means you still need a launch check.

One permanent enchant or armor attachment per item. A scope adds damage to each shot, not that amount to weapon DPS; a new scope replaces the old one. Armor kits compete with enchants on their slots. October notes fixed kits granting twice the intended ranged attack power. A melee proc such as Crusader is not the first purchase for a ranged hunter. PTR-only enchant scroll records do not prove scrolls are available; arrange an enchanter's service. New Bracer Agility and 2H Lesser Agility records lack a confirmed recipe source, so do not budget around them. The planner does not add enchant effects or movement value automatically.

Troubleshooting

My pet ran off and pulled the room
Use Shift on Pet Orders to set passive and recall it; check the route before sending it again.
Auto Shot keeps stopping
Check your ranged weapon, matching ammo, range, line of sight and whether you moved; test the Auto Shot key with addons off and confirm your client build.
Feign Death resisted
Check whether enemies still want you, recall the pet and keep an escape ready; the macro cannot force combat to drop, and Forever allows combat traps anyway.
My pet is unhappy and won't listen
Check happiness and loyalty, feed food its family eats and finish pet training; the feeding macro needs suitable food in backpack slot one.
I ran out of arrows
Buy a stack before the next pull, equip it and check your weapon type; guns need bullets, and the ammo macro cannot shop for you.
My freeze broke right away
Recall the pet, stop auto attacks and avoid stings or other ongoing damage on that enemy; shots already in flight still land.
Aimed Shot and Multi-Shot will not fire together
They share a cooldown in Forever; choose the one for the situation instead of trying to sequence both.
The modifier key does nothing
Check that you learned the alternate spell or talent and own the item, then check for another binding on that modifier combination; mouseover range failures do not retry your target.

Graphics and console settings

36 commands

A steady frame rate helps you time shots and keep enemies at range, while readable ground effects keep your next step out of trouble. Start at native resolution and 100% render scale, with Low or Fair shadows, Medium particles and Projected Textures on. Cap your frame rate at what your PC can hold, and 30 in the background. Write down every value before you change it so you can put it back.

The Forever look

The September tip from Icy Veins that went around the community: render scale 98%, contrast 60, brightness 40 (some players prefer 45). The same sliders are in Settings > Graphics (Render Scale under Resolution; Contrast, Brightness and Gamma further down). It depends on your monitor, so try it in a foggy zone and keep what looks right.

Write down your current look first

Prints render scale, contrast, brightness and gamma so you can put them back.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"RenderScale","Contrast","Brightness","Gamma"}) do print(n,C_CVar.GetCVar(n)) end

The Forever look: 98% scale, contrast 60, brightness 40

Icy Veins says 98% render scale cleans up the image and can save a few frames, and contrast 60 with brightness 40 makes the new fog stand out. One player post uses brightness 45. It depends on your monitor.

3 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console RenderScale 0.98
/console Contrast 60
/console Brightness 40

Undo: back to the game's defaults

Resets render scale, contrast and brightness to the client defaults. If you wrote down different values, type those instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"RenderScale","Contrast","Brightness"}) do local d=C_CVar.GetCVarDefault(n); if d then C_CVar.SetCVar(n,d) end end

Record first

Screenshot Settings > Graphics (Base, Raid and Advanced) before you touch anything. These read-only lines print your current values to chat.

Read your current foreground cap

Prints your current maxFPS cap to chat and changes nothing. The on/off switch for the cap (useMaxFPS) is a separate setting, so this alone does not tell you whether the cap is on.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("maxFPS", C_CVar.GetCVar("maxFPS"))

Read the game's default cap

Prints what the game thinks the default maxFPS is, and changes nothing. That is the game's default, not the value you had before, so write your own down too.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("maxFPS default", C_CVar.GetCVarDefault("maxFPS"))

Record cap switches, VSync and render scale

Prints six settings in one go: both FPS caps and their on/off switches, VSync and render scale. Write the results down before you change anything so you can put them back.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"useMaxFPS","maxFPS","useMaxFPSBk","maxFPSBk","vsync","RenderScale"}) do print(n,C_CVar.GetCVar(n)) end

Restore a recorded 120 FPS cap

Puts maxFPS back to 120. That is only an example: type whatever value you wrote down before tuning, not 120 because we said so.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console maxFPS 120

Reset one setting to the game's default

Asks the game for its default maxFPS and sets just that one setting back to it (swap in another name to reset a different setting). A default is not always what you had before, so if you wrote your old value down, type that instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run local n="maxFPS"; local d=C_CVar.GetCVarDefault(n); if d then C_CVar.SetCVar(n,d) end

Switches the foreground FPS cap off with its real switch, useMaxFPS 0. The old tip of setting maxFPS 0 is a guess; this is the actual switch, and your stored maxFPS number stays put for when you turn the cap back on.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console useMaxFPS 0

Disable Target FPS for a controlled test

Turns off Target FPS, a separate feature that is not the same thing as the FPS cap. Leave it as you found it unless it is muddying a before-and-after test; note its state first and put it back afterwards.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console useTargetFPS 0

Test VSync disabled

Turns the game's VSync off. It can feel more responsive but may show tearing, so compare it with your monitor and driver settings rather than assuming off is better.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console vsync 0

Enable VSync if tearing distracts

Turns the game's VSync back on if tearing bothers you. If you wrote down a different starting value, that is your real undo; no VSync choice is best for every monitor and driver.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console vsync 1

If FPS is still too low

Lower shadows and water first. Render scale is the last resort.

Lower-cost graphics experiment

Drops shadows and water to Low, turns ambient occlusion off, and lowers view distance, environment detail and ground clutter; the settings menu shows those three as 4, 4 and 2. Try one change at a time in the spot that was slow and keep only what actually helps.

6 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console graphicsShadowQuality 0
/console graphicsSSAO 0
/console graphicsViewDistance 3
/console graphicsEnvironmentDetail 3
/console graphicsGroundClutter 1
/console graphicsLiquidDetail 0

Try 85% render scale (last resort)

Sets render scale to 0.85, which is 85% in each direction and about 72% as many pixels to draw. Only use a value your Render Scale slider actually offers, and treat it as a last resort because it softens the picture.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RenderScale 0.85

Return to 100% render scale

Puts render scale back to 1 (100%) after the 85% test. If you started somewhere other than 100%, type your recorded value instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RenderScale 1

Keep combat cues visible

Healers need to see ground effects. Keep these on.

Preserve readable combat cues

Keeps projected textures on and particles at Medium so you can still see what is on the floor. Turning either off is a classic FPS-macro trick that can hide combat cues a healer needs.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console graphicsProjectedTextures 1
/console graphicsParticleDensity 3

Antialiasing

Try the cheap image-based option before expensive MSAA.

Antialiasing: None

Turns off both kinds of antialiasing (MSAAQuality and ffxAntiAliasingMode) so you can see how much they cost you. Write both values down first and put both back afterwards.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console MSAAQuality 0
/console ffxAntiAliasingMode 0

Antialiasing: FXAA Low test

Turns MSAA off and switches on FXAA Low (ffxAntiAliasingMode 1), the cheap way to smooth jagged edges. Compare it with None: you are trading a bit of blur for smoother edges.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console MSAAQuality 0
/console ffxAntiAliasingMode 1

Test 8x texture filtering

Sets textureFilteringMode 4, which is 8x anisotropic filtering (5 is 16x). It sharpens distant ground seen at an angle; it is not guaranteed to be free, so check your frame rate and put it back if it costs you.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console textureFilteringMode 4

Raid profile

Lower settings that switch on only in raids.

Optional lower-cost Raid profile

Turns on the separate Raid profile (RAIDsettingsEnabled 1) and gives it lighter settings for group content: Low shadows and water, Fair particles, projected textures on, ambient occlusion off, draw sliders showing 4/4/2, and High textures. If Fair particles hide something you need to see, bump them back to Medium in the Raid tab.

10 lines, 366 characters: too long for one macro. Type them one at a time in chat.
/console RAIDsettingsEnabled 1
/console raidGraphicsShadowQuality 0
/console raidGraphicsLiquidDetail 0
/console raidGraphicsParticleDensity 2
/console raidGraphicsProjectedTextures 1
/console raidGraphicsSSAO 0
/console raidGraphicsViewDistance 3
/console raidGraphicsEnvironmentDetail 3
/console raidGraphicsGroundClutter 1
/console raidGraphicsTextureResolution 2

Go back to the Base profile

Switches the Raid profile off so the game uses your Base settings everywhere again. It does not reset the Raid values themselves; they are just not in use.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RAIDsettingsEnabled 0

Responsiveness and latency

Input feel and network delay are separate from frame rate.

Optional cast on key down

Sets ActionButtonUseKeyDown 1 so your abilities fire when you press the key instead of when you let go, which can feel a touch snappier. Bars and addons that set their own useOnKeyDown behaviour can ignore it, and it does nothing for ping or FPS.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console ActionButtonUseKeyDown 1

Check whether SpellQueueWindow exists

Prints your current SpellQueueWindow value and changes nothing. We could not confirm from the Forever UI files that this setting exists or what it does here, so if it prints nil, leave it alone.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("SpellQueueWindow",C_CVar.GetCVar("SpellQueueWindow"))

Ask the game what SpellQueueWindow does

Asks the game for its own help text on SpellQueueWindow and prints it, changing nothing. If nothing comes back, the setting is not there and you can stop here.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,v in ipairs(ConsoleGetAllCommands()) do if v.command:lower()=="spellqueuewindow" then print(v.command,v.help) end end

Try a 300 ms spell queue (only if it exists)

Sets SpellQueueWindow to 300 ms. Only try it if the game confirmed the setting exists and you are coming down from a bigger value to chase a specific casting problem: it cannot lower your ping, and too small a window leaves gaps between casts, so compare and put it back if it feels worse.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console SpellQueueWindow 300

Read home and world latency

Prints your home and world latency in milliseconds, the same numbers the game's own performance indicator uses. It is one snapshot, not an average, and it changes nothing.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run local _,_,h,w=GetNetStats(); print("Home",h,"ms; World",w,"ms")

Renderer

See which graphics API you are running.

See your graphics API choices

Prints the graphics APIs your game can use, then which one is running right now and which one gxapi is asking for (they can differ until you restart). Stick with Auto unless you are chasing a real rendering problem, and only pick names the game listed.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/run print("Available:",GetGraphicsAPIs())
/run print("Current:",GetCurrentGraphicsAPI(),"Requested:",C_CVar.GetCVar("gxapi"))

Readability and accessibility

Cooldown numbers, nameplates, a bigger cursor and less screen shake.

Turn on helpful numbers in the default UI

Turns on cooldown countdown numbers, a target-of-target frame, and health and mana text shown as both numbers and percentages (statusText and statusTextDisplay work as a pair). Pure readability, no FPS change; addon frames may do their own thing.

4 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console countdownForCooldowns 1
/console showTargetOfTarget 1
/console statusText 1
/console statusTextDisplay BOTH

Optional enemy nameplates

Shows enemy nameplates, and shows them all the time rather than only in combat. Handy for picking out mobs; not an FPS trick.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console nameplateShowEnemies 1
/console nameplateShowAll 1

A bigger cursor (64x64)

Sets cursorSizePreferred 2, which asks for a 64x64 cursor that is easier to find over a wall of party frames. The other sizes are -1 Default, 0 32x32, 1 48x48, 3 96x96 and 4 128x128; pick one you can find without it covering the thing you want to click.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console cursorSizePreferred 2

Reduce camera and UI shake

Turns camera and UI shake down to a quarter strength (0.25 for both). A comfort setting, not a performance one; put both values back to undo.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console ShakeStrengthCamera 0.25
/console ShakeStrengthUI 0.25

Disable camera and UI shake

Turns camera and UI shake off completely (0 for both). Other effects that bother you may still be there; the Motion Sickness checkbox in Accessibility handles two more camera settings as a pair.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console ShakeStrengthCamera 0
/console ShakeStrengthUI 0

Use Alternate Screen Effects

Sets overrideScreenFlash 1, the same as ticking Alternate Screen Effects in Accessibility, which tones down screen flashes. It will not remove every uncomfortable effect, but it is the right first switch if flashes bother you.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console overrideScreenFlash 1

Measure

A one-off reading, not a benchmark. Compare in the same place.

Check your FPS right now

Prints your frame rate right now as a whole number. It is a single snapshot, not an average, so read it in the same spot before and after a change.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("FPS",math.floor(GetFramerate()+0.5))

Commands come from the original guide and were checked against the Forever client's settings code. No frame-rate gain is promised. If the game blocks /run, use the Settings menus instead.

Launch-day recheck

On November 4, test these before turning beta advice into guild rules. Official marks Blizzard announcements; client marks tooltip details or unresolved data. Level-60 raid plans remain untested.
