Bind a macro in a minute

  1. Type /macro while out of combat.
  2. Pick the tab with your shaman's name so the macro stays on this character.
  3. Click New, type the short name shown on the card, and pick the red question-mark icon: it lets #showtooltip show the real spell icon.
  4. Click Copy on the card, paste into the big box, and click Save.
  5. Drag the macro onto an action bar and bind that slot in Options > Keybindings.
  6. Test it out of combat with every modifier listed on the card.

Before you rely on a key. These macros are checked against Blizzard's Forever posts and the Forever client's own UI code, but none has been run in the game yet. Test each one out of combat first. Checked against build 1.60.1.70374 on Oct 15, 2026.

What Forever changed for shaman

Built from Blizzard's Mage and Shaman deep dive, beta notes through October 8, and Wowhead Forever talent and trainer data.

Fire NovaReplaces Fire Nova Totem; erupts at your active Fire Totem. Elemental Focus no longer triggers and consumes itself on the same Fire Nova.
Call of the ElementsOpens preset totem sets at 20. The trainer export puts Call of the Ancestors at 30 and Call of the Spirits at 40; Blizzard lists those two in reverse order.
Totemic ProjectionMoves your totems; learned at 22. Check placement before committing mana.
Totemic RecallDestroys your totems and refunds 25% of their mana cost. Blizzard marked the missing-refund bug fixed on October 1; confirm it in your client.
Windfury WeaponWeapon imbues last 60 minutes and coexist with temporary weapon enchants.
Windfury TotemNow a party buff; conflicts with Grace of Air and Flametongue Totem. Your own Windfury Weapon blocks its benefit to you.
Lightning BoltRanks 4 and higher cast faster; October 8 retuned early rank damage. Chain Lightning also has a shorter cast.
Elemental AlacrityReplaces Lightning Mastery earlier in the tree. Three ranks shorten Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, and Lava Burst casts by 0.5 seconds.
Lightning OverloadNew talent: 3/7/10% chance for an extra Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning at half damage, no mana cost, and no threat.
EarthboundNew 21-point option: casting Earthbind Totem roots nearby enemies for 5 seconds.
Lava BurstNew 31-point talent. Your Flame Shock adds 20% damage; it does not promise a guaranteed critical strike.
Shamanistic FocusNew 11-point talent cuts Shock and Lightning Shield mana costs by 45%.
StormstrikeNow needs 16 Enhancement points and strengthens your next Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, or Earth Shock by 20%. Improved Stormstrike adds casting regeneration and dodge/parry resets.
Spirit WeaponsReplaces Parry and adds threat control: 30% less attack threat without Rockbiter Weapon, 30% more threat with it.
Mental DexterityNew talent turns up to 100% of Intellect into Attack Power. Mental Quickness separately adds spell damage and healing equal to up to 30% of Intellect.
Maelstrom WeaponNew melee-triggered stacks reduce Lightning Bolt cast time and mana cost. At 5/5, five stacks make Lightning Bolt instant and free; the tooltip names no other spell.
Rage of the FarseerNew 31-point talent gives you 30% attack speed for 25 seconds. This cooldown affects you alone.
MindfulnessNew early Restoration talent keeps 17/33/50% of mana regeneration while casting. Tidal Focus also adds hit chance alongside cheaper healing.
Water ShieldNew 11-point talent restores 2% maximum mana per globe from qualifying hits or healing crits. Only one elemental shield can be active; October 8 removed an incorrect cooldown tooltip.
Mana Tide TotemMoves to 16 Restoration points. Riptide is the new 31-point heal and requires Healing Way 3/3; it strengthens Chain Heal cast directly on its target.

PvP in Forever

  • Honor is spending currency from player kills, battlegrounds, and relevant quests. Rank Points advance you through the ranks toward High Warlord, with weekly limits on rank progress.
  • Rank 2 unlocks the PvP trinket. Shaman have healer, melee, and caster PvP sets; epic upgrades require the blue item and a rank-gated Emboldened Seal. Rank 14 unlocks epic weapons.
  • Weekly seasonal tasks award Honor and Rank Points; three tasks in each season also award a Legacy Point. Check the PvP pane for current requirements rather than assuming Era decay or thresholds.
  • Darkspear Islands is 15 against 15 for levels 30 to 60. Hold four bases and deliver the central flag to a base your team owns; first to 2,000 points wins.
  • Queue at a capital battlemaster or the Horde Darkspear Raiders base at Merchant Coast in the Barrens. Reputation rewards include gear and consumables; Exalted unlocks a tabard questline.
  • The October 8 beta notes removed reduced critical-strike efficacy in PvP. Test control durations, diminishing returns, and launch brackets before planning around older rules.

Your PvP tools

  • Earth ShockInterrupt an important heal or damaging cast (era). Keep it ready when disruption matters more than another damage shock.
  • PurgeStrip a useful enemy magic buff before teammates commit damage (era). Check which current buffs are removable.
  • Frost ShockSlow a runner or pursuer (era). A shared Shock cooldown means choosing this can delay Earth Shock.
  • Earthbind TotemSlow nearby enemies (era). Earthbound adds the Forever root when cast; the Elemental control preset takes it at 30.
  • Grounding TotemRedirect a qualifying hostile spell (era). The trainer export first offers it at 30; test what it catches.
  • Tremor TotemPrepare for fear, charm, or sleep using its periodic removal (era). It is not a guaranteed instant break.
  • Ghost WolfCreate distance, using Improved Ghost Wolf for an instant cast and indoor access. Check flag-carry rules before a match.
  • Lesser Healing WaveSave a teammate before restarting your damage. A short cast still needs space and line of sight (era).
  • Nature's SwiftnessA Restoration talent for an instant eligible Nature spell. Pair with a needed heal; this is not immunity to interruption afterward.
  • Totemic ProjectionMove the set toward your team instead of leaving utility behind when the fight shifts.
  • Water ShieldFor talented healers, qualifying healing crits can return mana. Replacing it with Lightning Shield gives up that protection for your mana budget.

Totems: which one when

Totems: which one when. Keep one of each element active and replace a damage buff when survival needs the slot. The ranges below use Forever tooltips where found; explicitly marked Era ranges need a check in your current spellbook, since some database ranks still show old values.

Set up your four elements

  1. Finish Call of Earth at 4, Call of Fire at 10, Call of Water at 20 and Call of Air at 30; keep the elemental totem items in your bags (era quest rules).
  2. Use your own Horde trainer chain: Orc and Troll, Tauren, or Windshaper Skyborne. A dwarf quest is not your shortcut.
  3. Train Call of the Elements at 20 and build a four-totem set; Blizzard describes a 3-second cast costing the sum of the selected totems.
  4. Create a second set when your trainer offers it. Blizzard names Spirits at 30 and Ancestors at 40; the client list reverses those names, so check the live buttons.
  5. Watch the built-in timers and right-click an icon to remove its totem. Individual totems use a 1-second global cooldown in Forever.
  6. Put Totemic Recall at 20 and Totemic Projection at 22 on separate keys; verify the current Recall refund before budgeting mana around it.

Quick swaps

  • Fear incomingEarth: Tremor before it lands; keep your party within 30 yards.
  • Melee partyEarth: Strength of Earth; air: Windfury after training, unless a mechanic needs the slot.
  • Poison or diseaseWater: the matching cleansing totem; direct cure for the urgent target.
  • Caster about to hitAir: Grounding for an eligible targeted spell; Earth Shock for an interruptible cast.
  • Resistance neededRaid-wide in range in Forever: the fire slot for Frost Resistance, water for Fire Resistance, air for Nature Resistance. Other totems still help only your party.
  • Moving onRecall the old camp or use Projection; watch your mana and timers.

Pick the totem for the job

  • Earth: Strength of Earth or StoneskinStrength helps physical attackers; Stoneskin reduces incoming physical hits. Updated Forever ranks list 30-yard party coverage and 5 minutes, though old Stoneskin ranks still show 20 yards and 2 minutes. Pick the needed benefit; either replaces every other earth totem you own.
  • Earth: TremorUse it before fear, charm or sleep. The Forever tooltip lists 30 yards and 5 minutes. Pulses remove eligible effects rather than preventing them (era behavior); keep the party within range and remember it replaces Strength of Earth or Stoneskin.
  • Earth: Earthbind or StoneclawEarthbind slows nearby enemies: 10 yards for 45 seconds on the player spell listing; Earthbound adds a 5-second root when cast in the Forever talent tree. Stoneclaw distracts susceptible nearby enemies: 8 yards for 15 seconds in Era. Use either to escape or help a planned kite, not as a guaranteed boss taunt. Both replace your earth buff or Tremor.
  • Fire: Searing or MagmaSearing attacks a nearby enemy, with a 20-yard targeting range and rank-dependent 30-to-60-second duration in Era. Magma damages enemies within 8 yards for 20 seconds in Era. Use Searing for one target and Magma for a settled pack; neither gets the blanket 5-minute buff duration. Both replace your fire totem and can break crowd control.
  • Fire: Flametongue or Frost ResistanceFlametongue adds fire damage to party melee attacks; the Forever listing shows 30 yards and 5 minutes, while Blizzard says it is now a party buff rather than a weapon enchant. Frost Resistance gives frost resistance, with 20 yards in Era and 5 minutes under the announced persistent-buff change; check your rank. Each replaces Searing or Magma. Flametongue is not a promised caster spell-power aura.
  • Fire: the new Fire Nova spellFire Nova Totem is removed in Forever. Cast Fire Nova through your active fire totem to damage enemies at its location; it does not take a second fire slot. Check placement before firing, particularly around sheep. The trainer list starts Fire Nova at 12; do not import a later-expansion Fire Elemental Totem.
  • Water: Healing Stream or Mana SpringHealing Stream provides small party heals; Mana Spring restores party mana. Use healing for steady chip damage and mana for long fights. Both Forever rank-one tooltips list 30 yards and 5 minutes, with a pulse every 2 seconds. Either replaces your cleansing, resistance or Mana Tide totem.
  • Water: Poison Cleansing or Disease CleansingEach removes one eligible effect from party members every 5 seconds. Updated Forever listings show 30 yards; Poison Cleansing lists 5 minutes, while Both last 5 minutes; Blizzard marked Disease Cleansing's short-duration bug fixed on October 1. Use the matching totem and direct cures for emergencies; they replace each other and Mana Spring.
  • Water: Fire Resistance or Mana TideFire Resistance suits sustained fire damage; Era radius is 20 yards, with 5 minutes from the announced persistent-buff change, subject to a live-rank check. Mana Tide needs the Restoration talent: Forever's tree lists 30 yards and 12 seconds, restoring mana every 3 seconds. It replaces your other water totem; restore that totem afterward.
  • Air: Windfury or Grace of AirWindfury adds extra melee swings; its Forever listing shows 30 yards and 5 minutes. Grace adds Agility, with 20-yard coverage in old listings and 5 minutes under the announced persistent-buff change; check the current rank. They cannot benefit the party together. Windfury also excludes Flametongue Totem benefits, even though that uses fire. Your own Windfury Weapon prevents you benefiting from Windfury Totem.
  • Air: GroundingGrounding redirects eligible harmful spells targeting party members, not area attacks; some boss spells are exempt. Its Forever listing gives 45 seconds, a 15-second cooldown and a redirect opportunity every 10 seconds. Coverage is 20 yards in Era; check the current rank. It replaces Windfury, Grace, Windwall, Nature Resistance or Sentry.
  • Air: Nature Resistance, Windwall or SentryNature Resistance helps nature damage; Windwall reduces ranged physical damage. Both have 20-yard coverage in Era and use the announced 5-minute persistent-buff duration, subject to a live-rank check. Sentry lasts 5 minutes, gives a view of its nearby area and warns when attacked; no fixed enemy-detection radius is confirmed. It spends your air slot for little dungeon value. Tranquil Air is removed in Forever.
  • Replace on purposeEvery totem you place replaces your own totem of the same element, even a life-saving one. Ordinary party totems do not automatically cover the whole raid. Do not import Era Windfury twisting: Blizzard explicitly blocks simultaneous Windfury and Grace benefits. Flametongue Weapon likewise blocks your own benefit from Flametongue Totem.
  • Recall or moveRecall removes all four and is described as returning 25% of their mana cost; Blizzard marked the missing-refund bug fixed on October 1; confirm it in your client. Projection moves the set within 30 yards, costs 25% base mana and has a 1-minute cooldown. Choose the cheaper useful action; there is no prize for rebuilding the campsite after every footstep.

Talents and Legacy

Talents start at 10, with one point per level: 21 at 30 and 51 at 60 without Talented. Points read Elemental / Enhancement / Restoration. These suggested builds use the Forever talent data; the beta cap is 30 and every level-60 plan is untested.

Legacy picks for a shaman

Legacy opens when you earn your first point, usually when an account character reaches 25. Points are shared across the account, but each character chooses its own perks. The launch spending cap is 16; these builds assume none.

  1. Well RestedBuild rested XP faster and raise its cap. The community calculator puts this before Talented.5 points
  2. TalentedUnlock talent points up to five levels early. At full rank, plan for 26 points at 30; these presets still use 21.5 points
  3. Thrill of AdventureRecover health and mana after qualifying outdoor kills. Handy when bedtime leaves one quest to finish.5 points
  4. Field MedicineShorten Recently Bandaged outside dungeons, raids, and battlegrounds.1 point
  5. The Quick and the DeadFaster corpse runs and free party or raid buffs after resurrection. Consider it for group nights.2 points

The first four choices use 16 points when fully bought. Costs and the Well Rested prerequisite come from community Legacy data; check the live panel. The beta grant is not a promise of free launch points. Talented advances talent points, not trainer spell levels.

Leveling and dungeons

Quest with a solid weapon, keep a healing set in your bags, and do your totem quests as they open. The beta stops at 30; everything above it is an Era route or an announced Forever destination, with rewards still subject to change.

Horde route, 1 to 60

Follow the same Horde zone route, with trainer stops for your four elements. Orcs and Trolls begin in Durotar, Tauren in Mulgore, and Horde Windshaper Skyborne on Zephras Isle; join the Barrens route afterward.

Is there a Horde Wintersaber?

Not confirmed. No source shows a Desolace raptor grind in Forever. The Horde counterpart players remember is the Venomhide Ravasaur from Un'Goro Crater, which arrived in Wrath of the Lich King. Forever's database lists the mount and its faction, but not how to get them.

Gear and consumables

Keep a healing kit and a damage kit. Your friends will notice both. These are practical beta upgrades and Era shopping plans for 60, not a promise of Forever raid best in slot.

What stats matter, and when

StageWhat to stackWhy
Leveling 1 to 30Weapon DPS, Intellect and enough Stamina; Spirit between pullsMelee saves mana. Mental Dexterity makes Intellect count toward attack power. Keep caster upgrades for dungeon healing.
Dungeon healing to 30Bonus healing and Intellect, then Spirit and mana per 5 secondsMindfulness lets Spirit help while casting. Get enough healing for the pull and enough mana for the next one.
Restoration at 60Bonus healing, Intellect and mana recovery; healing crit as useful supportCarry output gear and mana alternatives. Water Shield changes crit value in Forever, so Era scores are only a starting point.
Elemental at 60Spell damage, useful spell hit and spell crit, with enough IntellectNature-only damage misses Fire spells such as Lava Burst. Tidal Focus changes your hit budget. No Forever raid hit cap has been verified in the level 30 beta.
Enhancement at 60Strong slow weapon, melee hit and crit, Strength and IntellectA slow weapon helps Stormstrike. Mental Dexterity and Mental Quickness make Intellect useful. Keep mana recovery in mind when choosing gear.

Gear to aim for by 30

Every piece has an equip requirement of 30 or less. Cloth and leather are usable now; mail starts at 40. Dungeon bosses can still be above 30. These are alternatives across roles, not one outfit. New crafts bind on pickup, so make them yourself. Spell power means damage and healing; spell damage does not include healing.

Best weapon at every level

Enhancement gets more from a strong two-hander; Elemental and Restoration compare a caster one-hander plus shield or off-hand against a staff. These are practical Era targets with Forever caster-staff alternatives, not a proven Forever best-in-slot ranking.

LevelBest weaponHow to get itNotes
1 to 9Enhancement: starting staff; casters: affordable mace and worn shieldStarting quests or weapon vendorSave money for training. A staff is a two-hander and is fine until a two-handed axe or mace becomes available; do not assume Era talent requirements still apply.
10 to 17Enhancement: Cauldron Stirrer; casters: Staff of Orgrimmar or a useful mace and shieldApothecary Zamah, after the Forgotten Pools and Fungal Spores work; Hidden Enemies for the caster staffCauldron Stirrer is an Era quest staff from Apothecary Zamah. The Forever Orgrimmar staff may beat a weak one-handed pair for Elemental or Restoration.
18 to 28Enhancement: Crescent Staff; casters: Meteor Shard plus Commander's CrestLeaders of the Fang; Shadowfang Keep bossesThe dagger and shield are Era survival picks, not spell-power guarantees. Compare the upgraded Forever Crescent Staff for casting.
29 to 33Enhancement: Corpsemaker; casters: keep your best dagger plus Arctic BucklerOverlord Ramtusk in Razorfen Kraul; Blackfathom Villainy shield rewardCorpsemaker is an Era axe requiring 29. A discovered caster staff can still beat the full shield pair.
34 to 36Enhancement: Corpsemaker; casters: Hypnotic Blade plus Omega OrbRazorfen Kraul; Arcanist Doan in Library; Compendium of the FallenUse the shield instead when getting hit. Blade currently lists level 34 in Forever; Windshaper quest access for Omega Orb needs checking.
37 to 43Enhancement: Ravager; casters: Hypnotic Blade plus Aegis of the Scarlet CommanderHerod; Arcanist Doan; Commander MograineRavager requires 37 in Era and its proc can break control. Restoration can use Hand of Righteousness from Whitemane (era).
44 to 48Enhancement: The Rockpounder; casters: Hypnotic Blade plus Gizlock's Hypertech BucklerArchaedas in Uldaman; Library; Tinkerer Gizlock in MaraudonRockpounder requires 44 and the shield 48 in Era. Keep your old shield until then; do not chase every tiny upgrade.
49 to 53Enhancement: Princess Theradras' Scepter; Elemental: Charstone Dirk plus Gizlock's Hypertech BucklerPrincess Theradras; Tinkerer Gizlock in MaraudonThese are Era targets; Scepter requires 49, Dirk 48. Restoration can keep Hand of Righteousness with the same shield.
54 to 57Enhancement: keep Princess Theradras' Scepter; Restoration: The Hammer of Grace plus Gizlock's Hypertech BucklerMaraudon; Chest of The Seven in Blackrock Depths; save an Arcanite Reaper craft for 58Reaper requires 58, so bank it until then; keep the Scepter meanwhile. Elemental can keep Charstone Dirk and compare Spirit of Aquementas (era).
58 to 60Enhancement: Arcanite Reaper; Elemental: Witchblade plus Spirit of Aquementas; Restoration: The Hammer of Grace plus Gizlock's Hypertech BucklerMaster Axesmith; Gandling in Scholomance; Linken chain; Blackrock Depths; MaraudonThese are Era pre-raid goals, not launch guarantees. A cheaper dungeon two-hander is enough to start grouping; compare actual Forever tooltips before paying for a Reaper.

Weapon names, equip levels and drop sources above use Era planning unless a Forever listing is named; learn the weapon skill, compare the whole caster pair, and keep a healing set.

Pre-raid targets at 60

Use these three Era lists to plan dungeon nights at 60. Missing Forever tooltips stay labeled as Era fallbacks. Database presence does not promise launch loot. The beta stops at 30. Restoration and Elemental use one hand plus an off-hand; Enhancement uses a two-hander, with a shield alternative listed separately. Planner scores use published WoWSims Classic presets, which include seasonal assumptions. They are not Forever simulations. Weapon speed, procs, set bonuses, relic effects and hit caps are not scored. Mental Dexterity, Mental Quickness, Mindfulness and Water Shield make old weights less reliable. The level 30 Ranged slot has only two confirmed candidates here; inherited rune items are not usable gear recommendations. Weights keep the published normalization: healing = 1, spell damage = 1 and attack power = 1. Crit and hit weights are per 1 percentage point. The Enhancement spell-hit weight assumes the source preset is already capped. Healing-only bonuses and general spell power are separate item stats; do not count the same bonus twice. The Enhancement weapon-DPS weight comes from the source main-hand preset and is only a rough aid for a two-hander.

Shaman in groups

Shaman in groups: bring the right totems, stop a dangerous cast, and save enough mana to rescue someone. Your party should notice the help before it notices the lightning.

Set up your screen

  1. Show party and raid frames by group number; make health, mana and range easy to read.
  2. Show poison and disease on ally frames; keep Cure Poison and Cure Disease beside your mouseover heals. Friendly magic and curses need another class (era).
  3. Enable enemy nameplates, cast bars and target-of-target; bind Earth Shock separately from damage keys.
  4. Keep enemy beneficial magic visible and put Purge on an easy key; it removes enemy buffs, not ally debuffs (era).
  5. Place the built-in totem timers near your frames; put Tremor, cleansing totems, Recall and Projection on separate keys.
  6. Show raid marks and threat warnings; check your weapon imbue, shield and learned totem-set buttons before the first pull.

Raid marks

  • SkullFocus this enemy once the tank has it; interrupt if assigned.
  • CrossSecond kill; keep the first target under control before switching.
  • MoonUsually sheep; keep totem damage, Fire Nova and Chain Lightning away.
  • SquareUsually a trap or another control assignment; leave it asleep.
  • StarUse for the agreed interrupt or Purge target; marks are a party agreement.

Habits that keep the group alive

  • Match the party.Ask which group you support. Windfury suits melee once trained; Mana Spring suits mana users. Choose resistance or cleansing when the fight calls for it, and place totems where your own party can reach them.
  • Interrupt with Earth Shock.Save the shared Shock cooldown for the assigned dangerous cast. The client list puts Earth Shock at 4; a low rank can save mana when only the interrupt matters (era tactic). Call a resist or missed interrupt.
  • Purge with a purpose.Remove a dangerous dispellable enemy magic buff rather than repeatedly fishing for one. Purge starts at 12 in the client list; it cannot strip every boss effect.
  • Tremor before fear.Drop Tremor in reach of the party before the fear, charm or sleep. It pulses rather than granting immunity; a feared player can run outside its range (era behavior). It replaces your other earth totem.
  • Cleanse the right trouble.Poison Cleansing and Disease Cleansing help your party; use a direct cure when a tank cannot wait for a pulse. Ask the leader before removing a mechanic that the raid needs to keep, such as Hakkar poison (era tactic).
  • Heal the people who can chain.Chain Heal arrives at 40 in the client list, beyond the beta cap. Pick an injured ally near other injured allies; use Healing Wave or Lesser Healing Wave for isolated people (era habit). Riptide is a Forever talent that boosts Chain Heal on its target.
  • Keep the water slot useful.Mana Tide Totem needs its Restoration talent; Forever's tree places it at 16 points. Use it when your party has spent mana, then restore the water totem needed for the fight. Do not overwrite essential cleansing just to pad regeneration.
  • Keep damage off control.Let the tank gather enemies before Searing, Magma, Fire Nova or Chain Lightning. Check the area around your fire totem before pressing Fire Nova; the blast happens there in Forever.
  • Manage your weapon and threat.Use an agreed damage imbue when dealing damage. Spirit Weapons increases threat with Rockbiter active and lowers attack threat without it in the Forever tree; do not wear your emergency tank setup by accident.
  • Move the camp.Recall old totems before patrols find them. Projection can move the whole set within 30 yards; its base-mana cost is substantial. A saved set is convenient, but replacing all four is not always necessary.
  • Call before coming back.Reincarnation starts at 30 in the client list and uses an Ankh in Era. Ask before reviving into a lethal effect; after a wipe, wait for a safe reset and resurrect another healer. Carry reagents rather than hoping the cooldown packed them.
  • No raid haste promise.Blizzard describes Rage of the Farseer as personal attack speed, inspired by Bloodlust and Heroism. Do not advertise group Heroism. Call low mana and drink before the next pull; Gaming after bedtime works better when the healer has a blue bar.

Which ability when

Choose the spell that solves the next problem, and keep enough mana for the problem after that. Levels use the Forever's trainer data; older tactical advice is marked era and level-60 combinations remain untested.

SituationAt 30At 60Why
One target while levelingPull with Lightning Bolt; Enhancement can use Stormstrike, then weapon swings. Use a damage shock when the mana helps the kill.Elemental can add Lava Burst with its talent and your Flame Shock. Enhancement can spend full Maelstrom Weapon stacks on Lightning Bolt. These are suggested uses of Forever talents, not a measured best rotation.
Several enemiesPut a Fire Totem where the pack will stay, then use Fire Nova. Choose Magma Totem from 26 when area damage is safe.Add Chain Lightning from 32 when its jumps will not hit controlled enemies (era). Keep Fire Nova tied to your active Fire Totem.Damage starts at the totem, so placement matters before the button.
An enemy casterUse Earth Shock to interrupt the important cast (era). Grounding Totem appears at 30; test eligible spells.Keep the same interruption plan. Use Purge for removable enemy magic buffs rather than expecting it to stop a cast (era).A stopped heal or dangerous spell can beat a little more damage.
A runnerUse Frost Shock or Earthbind Totem to slow it (era). The Elemental control build adds Earthbound at 30.Keep control ready when another pack is nearby. Earthbound roots on Earthbind placement; it is not a promise of repeated roots.Stopping one runner can prevent the whole hallway joining in.
Your health dropsCreate space with Earthbind (era), then use Lesser Healing Wave or Healing Wave as time allows. Restoration can use Nature's Swiftness at 30.A Riptide build gains an instant heal with later healing over time. Use Nature's Swiftness for an eligible rescue heal when needed.Survival first. Damage can wait for one cast.
Mana is running lowStop optional damage, drink when safely out of combat, and use Mana Tide Totem if talented. Keep Water Shield active if your build has it.Use the same budget with trained ranks. Do not cast extra heals just to fish for Water Shield critical triggers.Mana recovery helps only if you spend it on useful actions.
The next dungeon pullCheck your Call of the Elements set, mana, and healer assignment. Choose Tremor or a cleansing totem for a known mechanic (era).Coordinate resistance coverage and party weapon buffs. Recall old totems before moving where they might catch unwanted enemies (era).Prepared utility saves more time than a fast wipe.
An enemy turns toward youBring it toward the tank (era). With Spirit Weapons, check Rockbiter Weapon: it changes your threat in the wrong direction for ordinary damage duty.If you agreed to cover briefly, a shield and Rockbiter-supported threat can help. This does not make the damage preset a proven raid tank.Threat choices depend on who is supposed to be getting hit.
A group member is in troubleUse Lesser Healing Wave for urgency, Healing Wave when there is time, or Cure Poison/Cure Disease for the matching harmful effect (era).Chain Heal starts at 40 in the export. Riptide strengthens a Chain Heal cast directly on its target; choose someone who needs the initial heal too.Heal the person in danger before chasing the prettiest group-healing number.
A PvP fight beginsStay near cover and allies. Use a relevant totem, Purge a useful enemy buff, or hold Earth Shock for a healer (era).Keep the objective and escape route in view. Talent burst tools help, but Rage of the Farseer is personal and Lava Burst is not an automatic crit.Helping the team keep a base beats chasing someone into the next zip code.

Raid night checklist

Tick things off as you pack. Ticks stay in this browser; clear them before the next raid night.

Raids in Forever

  • Raids open December 9, 2026: Onyxia's Lair for 40 players, Barrow Deeps for 10 and Hyjal Summit for 20. Launch is November 4; no raids open that day.
  • New raid names below come from beta data. Their order, mechanics, resistance needs and shaman tactics are unknown.
  • Other Classic raids have no verified Forever dates. Their tactics, supplies and attunements are Era plans, not a December schedule.
  • The beta stops at 30; level-60 shaman gearing and raid tuning remain untested.
  • Assign party totems by group number. Windfury cannot benefit the party alongside Grace of Air or Flametongue Totem in Forever.
  • Rage of the Farseer is personal attack speed; do not promise raid Bloodlust or Heroism.
  • Check Forever recipes and cooldowns before buying these Era supplies; healing potions moved to First Aid in the beta notes.
  • The raid c tag describes encounter guidance. Onyxia uses era tactics despite her confirmed opening date; new raids have dates but unknown tactics.
  • Shaman cure poison and disease and Purge enemy magic in Era. Friendly magic and curses need another class.
  • Quantities are a suggested night of supplies. Choose one flask and check weapon preparations against your imbue.

Before the raid: assignments

  1. Assign each shaman a numbered party and a healing or damage job. Most totems help only your party, but Forever's resistance totems cover the whole raid in range, so share those out across parties.
  2. Agree earth, fire, water and air choices for each mechanic; split Tremor, cleansing, Purge and Earth Shock duties so everyone knows the backup.
  3. Schedule talented Mana Tide by party and agree Reincarnation calls. Rage of the Farseer is personal attack speed, not group Heroism.

Before every pull

  1. Reach the agreed mana floor; drink before the ready check.
  2. Check weapon imbue, reagents, gear and Reincarnation cooldown. Use your damage or healing set for the assigned job.
  3. Place the assigned totems in range of your party; avoid patrol paths and crowd control.
  4. Swap to Tremor, cleansing or resistance before the mechanic; verify the actual timer rather than assuming every totem lasts 5 minutes.
  5. Confirm interrupt and Purge targets; save the shared Shock cooldown if Earth Shock is your job.
  6. Stand in healing range with line of sight and an escape route; call low mana, lost totems and deaths early.

10 players: Barrow Deeps1 to 2 shaman as a planning rangeOne supports the group needing its totems most; two can cover both parties. Restoration heals its assigned tank or group; damage specs still handle assigned interrupts and Purge. New boss tactics are unknown.
20 players: Hyjal Summit, Zul'Gurub, AQ202 to 4 shaman as a planning rangeFour can cover four parties if the roster allows. Spread melee support and mana support by party, give healers explicit tank or group jobs, and assign cleansing backups. Hyjal tactics remain unknown.
40 players: Onyxia, Molten Core and later5 to 8 shaman as a planning rangeEight allow one per party; with fewer, prioritize tanks and melee for assigned totems. Restoration splits tank and raid healing, while Enhancement and Elemental retain support duties. Rotate talented Mana Tide within each supported party.

These are roster suggestions based on party-limited support, not tested Forever raid requirements; all three specs can contribute, and neither a fixed healer count nor raid-wide Heroism is promised.

  15. Lady Blaumeux Four Horsemen: leave Void Zones and rotate at agreed marks. Avoid returning to unsafe old totem positions.
  16. Sir Zeliek Four Horsemen: spread for Holy Wrath and rotate at agreed marks. Use single-target healing when spacing prevents Chain Heal bounces.

Shaman tips

Keep enough mana to help, put your totems where the fight will happen, and tell the group before you drink. Talent numbers and trainer levels here use Forever client data; older combat habits are marked era.

Leveling

  • Pull one, finish one. Open with Lightning Bolt and finish with weapon swings when safe (era). Train damage ranks you use; October 8 made early Lightning Bolt upgrades more consistent.
  • Buy movement, then use it. Ghost Wolf trains at 20 in the export. Improved Ghost Wolf allows indoor use at 1/2 and makes it instant at 2/2; talent points alone do not teach the spell.
  • Pack a healing outfit. Keep useful Intellect and healing pieces for dungeon nights (era). Enhancement talents do not turn your damage gear into a full healer set.

Mana and recovery

  • Leave a rescue budget. Keep mana for Lesser Healing Wave, a useful shock, and an escape. Spending the last drop on a nearly dead enemy buys an awkward walk (era).
  • Take regeneration that fits. Mindfulness 3/3 keeps 50% regeneration while casting. Improved Stormstrike offers a separate casting-regeneration window; do not assume the two add together without testing.
  • Choose your shield. Water Shield restores mana on qualifying hits and healing crits. Lightning Shield adds damage when struck; casting either replaces the other.
  • Do not worship rank 1. Blizzard reduces Elemental Focus triggers from very low ranks. Test rank choices for a job; use current ranks when you need real damage or healing.

Totems and weapon imbues

  • Place for the next few seconds. Use Call of the Elements for a prepared set. Use individual totems for urgent utility; preset convenience does not choose the right answer for you.
  • One slot per element. Replacing a totem can remove another useful effect of that element (era). Tell the group when Tremor replaces a strength buff.
  • Move or pack up. Totemic Projection moves your existing set. Recall before leaving a dangerous area; verify its mana refund before budgeting around it.
  • Check the weapon buff. Personal imbues coexist with oils and stones in Forever. Windfury Totem and Flametongue Totem have exclusions; an extra shaman does not make every weapon buff stack.

Dungeons

  • Heal what you actually have. At 30 you have Healing Wave and Lesser Healing Wave. Chain Heal starts at 40 in the export; Riptide needs 31 Restoration points.
  • Set the interruption plan. Earth Shock stops casts in Era. Agree who stops the dangerous heal, and confirm its Forever lockout before depending on old timings.
  • Drink out loud. Say you are low before the next pull. A healer sitting behind a corner is a clue, not a speed challenge.
  • Reincarnate somewhere useful. Reincarnation appears at 30 in the export. Check your location, the enemy, and your reagent before accepting a second death.

Group habits

  • Help before polishing damage. A timely heal, Cure Poison, or Cure Disease can save a pull. Their removal roles follow Era advice until verified in Forever.
  • Coordinate totems. Ask which party needs your buffs and which mechanic needs a resistance totem. Blizzard says resistance bonuses now reach the raid; do not extend that promise to every totem.
  • Bring trouble toward help. Move a loose enemy toward the tank instead of fleeing down the hallway (era). Leave room to see ground effects.

Forever changes to remember

  • Enjoy the shorter setup. Totems use a 1-second global cooldown. Persistent buff totems last 5 minutes; short utility totems keep their own timers.
  • Read your crit talents again. Thundering Strikes now covers spells and attacks. Tidal Mastery covers healing crits, not Lightning Bolt. Ancestral Knowledge increases Intellect.
  • Keep the personal cooldown personal. Rage of the Farseer boosts your attack speed. Do not schedule it as raid-wide Bloodlust. Maelstrom Weapon names Lightning Bolt, not emergency heals.
  • Check the two Call names. Blizzard lists Spirits at 30 and Ancestors at 40. The trainer export reverses them. Teach the set your live trainer actually offers.

Horde choices

  • Orc Blood Fury adds 10% Attack Power and Spell Power for 15 seconds. Shatter Curse blocks curses and banes and reduces magic damage for 8 seconds. Passives: axes add 1% spell and ability crit; Hardiness shortens stuns 20%.
  • Tauren War Stomp stuns nearby enemies for 2 seconds, buying space to act. Cultivation grows herbs without Herbalism. Passives: Plainsrunning builds movement speed; Endurance adds 5% health and 1% hit.
  • Troll Berserking adds 10% attack and casting speed for 10 seconds. Rapid Regeneration restores 50% maximum health over time. Passives: 5% damage to beasts; 10% health regeneration continues in combat.
  • Windshaper Skyborne Horde shaman can choose Windshapers. Walk on Air glides for 10 seconds; Skysight grants 10% run speed. Passives: Wind Blessed adds 1% melee, ranged, and casting haste; Elemental Insight adds 5% damage to elementals.

Addons and UI

Start with Blizzard's own tools, then add only what helps you see health, your totems and the cast to interrupt. Readable bars beat a cockpit.

  • Default raid-style party frames Works in Forever

Edit Mode lets you use compact raid-style party frames and move them where you can read them. Put health bars and debuffs near your character, then use this guide's mouseover keys to heal without changing targets.

Forever UI source includes the Edit Mode setting, checked Oct 14, 2026

  • Default Cooldown Manager Works in Forever

Blizzard's tracker supports class abilities, racials, and trinkets, with consumable support still due in a later patch. Keep Fear Ward and your talented cooldowns in view before shopping for more trackers.

Official October 8 support update, checked Oct 14, 2026

  • Default nameplates Works in Forever

Blizzard's nameplates put enemy health and cast bars above the mobs. Keep enemy plates visible so you can spot a loose mob while your mouse stays near the party frames.

  • Default Damage Meter Works in Forever

The built-in meter shows healing, damage, dispels, and deaths, and you can position it in Edit Mode. Review healing and deaths after the pull; a bigger number is less useful than a living tank.

Forever 1.60.1 meter guide dated Sep 22, checked Oct 14, 2026

  • Grid2 Works in Forever

Grid2 replaces party and raid frames with a compact grid and configurable buff and debuff indicators. Give Renew, shields, and Weakened Soul separate indicators so you can read a tank's situation quickly.

  • Clique Unverified

Clique binds spells or macros to mouse clicks and keys over unit frames. Try it if clicking to heal feels better than the guide's mouseover keys, and keep target and unit-menu clicks bound too.

  • ThreatClassic2 Works in Forever

The Forever version shows threat for your enemy target, but its friendly-target healer mode is unavailable on this client. Check a dangerous enemy's threat list when healing starts pulling attention your way, and keep Fade within reach.

  • Regular WeakAuras is not a drop-in Forever setup; Musca Auras is a 1.60.1 port whose modern aura triggers work within the client's limits. Useful reminders to test are missing Inner Fire, Fear Ward cooldown, talented Power Infusion ready once learned, shield and Weakened Soul, mana potion cooldown, and a five-second-rule ticker.

Musca 1.9.1 supports 1.60.1; these shaman auras unverified, Oct 14, 2026

Professions for shaman

Skinning and Leatherworking fits a shaman early. Herbalism and Alchemy supplies all three roles. Mining and Blacksmithing is a weapon project first; mail starts at 40. Learn First Aid and Cooking alongside any pair.

Which pair to pick

ProfessionsWhyBest for
Mining and BlacksmithingMining supplies bars and stones for weapons, attachments and later mail. New mail and plate armor cannot be worn by a beta shaman. Recipe hunts and extra reagents cost time and gold.Enhancement weapon projects and later mail
Skinning and LeatherworkingGather while questing and make Totemic leather for hybrid stats. Many new pieces bind on pickup, so a guildmate cannot craft them for you. Patterns and special materials still cost money; dungeon drops may win.All three roles while leveling; Enhancement leather at 60
Herbalism and AlchemyMake mana potions and role-specific elixirs, or sell herbs. Standard healing potions moved to secondary First Aid. Gathering takes time, recipes can be scarce and consumables do not replace gear.Restoration mana, Elemental damage and steady supplies

Leatherworking: a starter route to 130

Keep hides and belts for later recipes. Detour for your own Totemic upgrades.

Materials are per craft. This follows the shared Forever Blacksmithing reference. Bronze Shortsword and plate pieces are skill-up crafts, not shaman equipment. All mail waits until level 40; plate is never usable. Train profession ranks before their caps. Artisan needs level 35. Recipe detours can begin before a route starts using them; check the trainer for the exact learning skill.

Tips

  • Buy Horde supply recipes at the Durotar Supply and Logistics camp near the Crossroads. Fill crates for Merchant's Favor and check recipe binding before using an alt.
  • First Aid is secondary and makes standard healing potions as well as bandages. Mana potions remain Alchemy.
  • Enchanting is another option for self-crafted relics and caster weapons. Polished Driftwood Icon binds on pickup, so its planner option requires making it yourself.
  • Compare Totemic leather with Brawler leather when Mental Dexterity converts Intellect to attack power. Pure melee stats do not tell the whole story in Forever.
  • Buy tradeable gear from a guild crafter when it costs less than leveling a profession. Ask about loot before rolling on cloth caster upgrades.
  • Save water and repair money before buying a fancy enchant. Gaming after bedtime still has a household budget.

Best enchants for a shaman

One permanent enchant or attachment per item. Iron Counterweight competes with Crusader. Shaman imbues are separate: Blizzard explicitly allows them with oils and stones in Forever. Only one oil or stone occupies that temporary layer. New neck and weapon formulas have Horde supply-camp vendors. Natural Power adds Nature damage, not healing; the formula lists skill 300 while spell data shows a higher difficulty, so confirm live access. PTR scroll records do not prove tradeable enchant scrolls are obtainable; arrange an enchanter service. No unverified ring perk is budgeted.

Troubleshooting

My totem sequence got stuck
Each press must successfully cast the current step before it advances; check mana, required totem items, and the global cooldown, then leave the key alone for ten seconds to reset.
Earth Shock didn't interrupt
Check the spell cooldown, range, line of sight, and whether that enemy cast can be interrupted; Shift selects rank 1, not a guaranteed interrupt.
Windfury Totem replaced my Grace of Air
They cannot stack in Forever, even from different shaman; agree on one buff rather than copying an Era twisting macro.
Chain Heal jumped to the wrong person
The macro chooses only the first ally; you cannot script later jumps, so choose a useful first target and check who stands nearby.
My heal went to the wrong dad
A living friendly mouseover wins even if out of range; move your mouse off that frame or hold Alt to choose yourself.
Shift does nothing
Check that the rank is learned and that another action is not bound to Shift plus the same key; compare tooltips by clicking with Shift held.
My emergency key keeps canceling heals
The panic keys start with stopcasting, so repeated presses cancel newly started heals too; press once, then use your normal healing key.
My weapon key will not work in a fight
The imbue cards deliberately use nocombat; refresh before pulling, or use the spellbook button for a deliberate combat refresh, and do not try to enchant a shield.

Graphics and console settings

36 commands

A steady frame rate helps you land interrupts and rescue heals, while readable ground effects show where your totems belong and where your boots do not. Start at native resolution and 100% render scale, with Low or Fair shadows, Medium particles and Projected Textures on. Cap your frame rate at what your PC can hold, and 30 in the background. Write down every value before you change it so you can put it back.

The Forever look

The September tip from Icy Veins that went around the community: render scale 98%, contrast 60, brightness 40 (some players prefer 45). The same sliders are in Settings > Graphics (Render Scale under Resolution; Contrast, Brightness and Gamma further down). It depends on your monitor, so try it in a foggy zone and keep what looks right.

Write down your current look first

Prints render scale, contrast, brightness and gamma so you can put them back.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"RenderScale","Contrast","Brightness","Gamma"}) do print(n,C_CVar.GetCVar(n)) end

The Forever look: 98% scale, contrast 60, brightness 40

Icy Veins says 98% render scale cleans up the image and can save a few frames, and contrast 60 with brightness 40 makes the new fog stand out. One player post uses brightness 45. It depends on your monitor.

3 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console RenderScale 0.98
/console Contrast 60
/console Brightness 40

Undo: back to the game's defaults

Resets render scale, contrast and brightness to the client defaults. If you wrote down different values, type those instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"RenderScale","Contrast","Brightness"}) do local d=C_CVar.GetCVarDefault(n); if d then C_CVar.SetCVar(n,d) end end

Record first

Screenshot Settings > Graphics (Base, Raid and Advanced) before you touch anything. These read-only lines print your current values to chat.

Read your current foreground cap

Prints your current maxFPS cap to chat and changes nothing. The on/off switch for the cap (useMaxFPS) is a separate setting, so this alone does not tell you whether the cap is on.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("maxFPS", C_CVar.GetCVar("maxFPS"))

Read the game's default cap

Prints what the game thinks the default maxFPS is, and changes nothing. That is the game's default, not the value you had before, so write your own down too.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("maxFPS default", C_CVar.GetCVarDefault("maxFPS"))

Record cap switches, VSync and render scale

Prints six settings in one go: both FPS caps and their on/off switches, VSync and render scale. Write the results down before you change anything so you can put them back.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"useMaxFPS","maxFPS","useMaxFPSBk","maxFPSBk","vsync","RenderScale"}) do print(n,C_CVar.GetCVar(n)) end

Restore a recorded 120 FPS cap

Puts maxFPS back to 120. That is only an example: type whatever value you wrote down before tuning, not 120 because we said so.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console maxFPS 120

Reset one setting to the game's default

Asks the game for its default maxFPS and sets just that one setting back to it (swap in another name to reset a different setting). A default is not always what you had before, so if you wrote your old value down, type that instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run local n="maxFPS"; local d=C_CVar.GetCVarDefault(n); if d then C_CVar.SetCVar(n,d) end

Balanced starting profile

Native resolution, 100% render scale, 60 FPS while playing and 30 in the background, with combat effects kept readable.

Balanced starting profile

A readable starting profile: 60 FPS foreground, 30 background, 100% scale, Fair shadows/water, Medium particles, projected textures on, Low ambient occlusion, and moderate draw detail.

FPS, frame pacing and heat

Raise the cap only if your monitor and real frame rate make it worthwhile.

Test 90 FPS foreground / 30 background

Turns on both FPS caps: 90 while you are playing, 30 when the game is in the background. A cap cannot make a struggling PC reach 90; it just stops a fast one working harder and hotter than it needs to.

4 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console useMaxFPS 1
/console maxFPS 90
/console useMaxFPSBk 1
/console maxFPSBk 30

Turn the foreground cap off properly

Switches the foreground FPS cap off with its real switch, useMaxFPS 0. The old tip of setting maxFPS 0 is a guess; this is the actual switch, and your stored maxFPS number stays put for when you turn the cap back on.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console useMaxFPS 0

Disable Target FPS for a controlled test

Turns off Target FPS, a separate feature that is not the same thing as the FPS cap. Leave it as you found it unless it is muddying a before-and-after test; note its state first and put it back afterwards.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console useTargetFPS 0

Test VSync disabled

Turns the game's VSync off. It can feel more responsive but may show tearing, so compare it with your monitor and driver settings rather than assuming off is better.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console vsync 0

Enable VSync if tearing distracts

Turns the game's VSync back on if tearing bothers you. If you wrote down a different starting value, that is your real undo; no VSync choice is best for every monitor and driver.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console vsync 1

If FPS is still too low

Lower shadows and water first. Render scale is the last resort.

Lower-cost graphics experiment

Drops shadows and water to Low, turns ambient occlusion off, and lowers view distance, environment detail and ground clutter; the settings menu shows those three as 4, 4 and 2. Try one change at a time in the spot that was slow and keep only what actually helps.

6 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console graphicsShadowQuality 0
/console graphicsSSAO 0
/console graphicsViewDistance 3
/console graphicsEnvironmentDetail 3
/console graphicsGroundClutter 1
/console graphicsLiquidDetail 0

Try 85% render scale (last resort)

Sets render scale to 0.85, which is 85% in each direction and about 72% as many pixels to draw. Only use a value your Render Scale slider actually offers, and treat it as a last resort because it softens the picture.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RenderScale 0.85

Return to 100% render scale

Puts render scale back to 1 (100%) after the 85% test. If you started somewhere other than 100%, type your recorded value instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RenderScale 1

Keep combat cues visible

Healers need to see ground effects. Keep these on.

Preserve readable combat cues

Keeps projected textures on and particles at Medium so you can still see what is on the floor. Turning either off is a classic FPS-macro trick that can hide combat cues a healer needs.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console graphicsProjectedTextures 1
/console graphicsParticleDensity 3

Antialiasing

Try the cheap image-based option before expensive MSAA.

Antialiasing: None

Turns off both kinds of antialiasing (MSAAQuality and ffxAntiAliasingMode) so you can see how much they cost you. Write both values down first and put both back afterwards.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console MSAAQuality 0
/console ffxAntiAliasingMode 0

Antialiasing: FXAA Low test

Turns MSAA off and switches on FXAA Low (ffxAntiAliasingMode 1), the cheap way to smooth jagged edges. Compare it with None: you are trading a bit of blur for smoother edges.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console MSAAQuality 0
/console ffxAntiAliasingMode 1

Test 8x texture filtering

Sets textureFilteringMode 4, which is 8x anisotropic filtering (5 is 16x). It sharpens distant ground seen at an angle; it is not guaranteed to be free, so check your frame rate and put it back if it costs you.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console textureFilteringMode 4

Raid profile

Lower settings that switch on only in raids.

Optional lower-cost Raid profile

Turns on the separate Raid profile (RAIDsettingsEnabled 1) and gives it lighter settings for group content: Low shadows and water, Fair particles, projected textures on, ambient occlusion off, draw sliders showing 4/4/2, and High textures. If Fair particles hide something you need to see, bump them back to Medium in the Raid tab.

10 lines, 366 characters: too long for one macro. Type them one at a time in chat.
/console RAIDsettingsEnabled 1
/console raidGraphicsShadowQuality 0

/console raidGraphicsViewDistance 3
/console raidGraphicsEnvironmentDetail 3
/console raidGraphicsGroundClutter 1
/console raidGraphicsTextureResolution 2

Go back to the Base profile

Switches the Raid profile off so the game uses your Base settings everywhere again. It does not reset the Raid values themselves; they are just not in use.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RAIDsettingsEnabled 0

Responsiveness and latency

Input feel and network delay are separate from frame rate.

Optional cast on key down

Sets ActionButtonUseKeyDown 1 so your abilities fire when you press the key instead of when you let go, which can feel a touch snappier. Bars and addons that set their own useOnKeyDown behaviour can ignore it, and it does nothing for ping or FPS.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console ActionButtonUseKeyDown 1

Check whether SpellQueueWindow exists

Prints your current SpellQueueWindow value and changes nothing. We could not confirm from the Forever UI files that this setting exists or what it does here, so if it prints nil, leave it alone.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("SpellQueueWindow",C_CVar.GetCVar("SpellQueueWindow"))

Ask the game what SpellQueueWindow does

Asks the game for its own help text on SpellQueueWindow and prints it, changing nothing. If nothing comes back, the setting is not there and you can stop here.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,v in ipairs(ConsoleGetAllCommands()) do if v.command:lower()=="spellqueuewindow" then print(v.command,v.help) end end

Try a 300 ms spell queue (only if it exists)

Sets SpellQueueWindow to 300 ms. Only try it if the game confirmed the setting exists and you are coming down from a bigger value to chase a specific casting problem: it cannot lower your ping, and too small a window leaves gaps between casts, so compare and put it back if it feels worse.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console SpellQueueWindow 300

Read home and world latency

Prints your home and world latency in milliseconds, the same numbers the game's own performance indicator uses. It is one snapshot, not an average, and it changes nothing.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run local _,_,h,w=GetNetStats(); print("Home",h,"ms; World",w,"ms")

Renderer

See which graphics API you are running.

See your graphics API choices

Prints the graphics APIs your game can use, then which one is running right now and which one gxapi is asking for (they can differ until you restart). Stick with Auto unless you are chasing a real rendering problem, and only pick names the game listed.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/run print("Available:",GetGraphicsAPIs())
/run print("Current:",GetCurrentGraphicsAPI(),"Requested:",C_CVar.GetCVar("gxapi"))

Readability and accessibility

Cooldown numbers, nameplates, a bigger cursor and less screen shake.

Turn on helpful numbers in the default UI

Turns on cooldown countdown numbers, a target-of-target frame, and health and mana text shown as both numbers and percentages (statusText and statusTextDisplay work as a pair). Pure readability, no FPS change; addon frames may do their own thing.

4 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console countdownForCooldowns 1
/console showTargetOfTarget 1
/console statusText 1
/console statusTextDisplay BOTH

Optional enemy nameplates

Shows enemy nameplates, and shows them all the time rather than only in combat. Handy for picking out mobs; not an FPS trick.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console nameplateShowEnemies 1
/console nameplateShowAll 1

A bigger cursor (64x64)

Sets cursorSizePreferred 2, which asks for a 64x64 cursor that is easier to find over a wall of party frames. The other sizes are -1 Default, 0 32x32, 1 48x48, 3 96x96 and 4 128x128; pick one you can find without it covering the thing you want to click.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console cursorSizePreferred 2

Reduce camera and UI shake

Turns camera and UI shake down to a quarter strength (0.25 for both). A comfort setting, not a performance one; put both values back to undo.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console ShakeStrengthCamera 0.25
/console ShakeStrengthUI 0.25

Disable camera and UI shake

Turns camera and UI shake off completely (0 for both). Other effects that bother you may still be there; the Motion Sickness checkbox in Accessibility handles two more camera settings as a pair.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console ShakeStrengthCamera 0
/console ShakeStrengthUI 0

Use Alternate Screen Effects

Sets overrideScreenFlash 1, the same as ticking Alternate Screen Effects in Accessibility, which tones down screen flashes. It will not remove every uncomfortable effect, but it is the right first switch if flashes bother you.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console overrideScreenFlash 1

Measure

A one-off reading, not a benchmark. Compare in the same place.

Check your FPS right now

Prints your frame rate right now as a whole number. It is a single snapshot, not an average, so read it in the same spot before and after a change.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("FPS",math.floor(GetFramerate()+0.5))

Commands come from the original guide and were checked against the Forever client's settings code. No frame-rate gain is promised. If the game blocks /run, use the Settings menus instead.

Launch-day recheck

On November 4, repeat these checks in the live client. Official means Blizzard announced it; client means Forever's data or community behavior still needs a live check.
