Bind a macro in a minute

  1. Type /macro while out of combat.
  2. Pick the tab with your warlock's name so the macro stays on this character.
  3. Click New, type the short name shown on the card, and pick the red question-mark icon: it lets #showtooltip show the real spell icon.
  4. Click Copy on the card, paste into the big box, and click Save.
  5. Drag the macro onto an action bar and bind that slot in Options > Keybindings.
  6. Test it out of combat with every modifier listed on the card.

Before you rely on a key. These macros are checked against Blizzard's Forever posts and the Forever client's own UI code, but none has been run in the game yet. Test each one out of combat first. Checked against build 1.60.1.70374 on Oct 15, 2026.

What Forever changed for warlocks

Blizzard's Rogue and Warlock deep dive and beta notes lead, with Wowhead Forever client talent and trainer data filling the gaps.

Bane of AgonyDamaging Curses became Banes, leaving room for one utility Curse alongside one Bane per warlock on a target. Bane of Doom follows the same rule.
Curse of the ElementsNow covers every magic school; Curse of Shadows is gone. The client trainer list starts it at 20, with another rank at 30.
Drain SoulCan award shards during its channel, with the chance rising after unsuccessful ticks. You no longer need to wait for a killing blow to restock.
Life TapNow scales with Spirit. The beta notes corrected its tooltip, not an invitation to tap yourself into the floor.
Create FirestoneFirestones and Spellstones now apply weapon imbues that can coexist with Wizard Oil. Firestone adds Fire damage and crit; Spellstone adds Shadow damage and spell haste.
SuppressionNow helps all hit chance and reduces all threat: up to 5% hit and 20% less threat in the client tree. Improved Corruption also adds up to 10% damage.
MaledictionNew periodic-damage talent, paired with new Improved Drains for stronger Drain Life, Drain Soul, and Wrack. Both open after five Affliction points.
Soul HarvestReplaces Improved Drain Soul; the beta notes fixed its mana-regeneration bonus. Fel Concentration is now three ranks and includes Wrack.
PandemicNew critical-damage talent for the listed Affliction spells. Malevolence adds Shadow crit chance, and Nightfall can also trigger from Drain Soul and Wrack.
Soul SiphonNew talent boosts drains for each of your other Affliction effects on the target. Wrack is the new 31-point channel and requires Siphon Life.
Curse of ExhaustionMoves to the 16-point milestone and still requires Amplify Curse. A pure Affliction warlock can reach it at 25 without Legacy points.
Demonic EnergiesNew talent heals your demon from your spell damage and shares Life Tap mana. Fel Vitality boosts pet health and mana plus your mana; Demonic Aegis strengthens your armor buffs.
Demonic SacrificeMoves to 11 points with rearranged two-hour bonuses. Soul Link moves to 21 points; Demonic Pact at 31 lets a different summoned demon coexist with the sacrifice bonus.
Demonic BrandSearing Pain can mark a target for bonus pet hits while reducing its own threat. The October 8 notes limit the bonus high threat to Shadow damage; Decimation prepares later Soul Fire casts.
Demonic KnowledgeNew pet-dependent spell-damage talent. The client ranks say 33/67/100% of your level, while Blizzard describes up to 33%; test the actual bonus before doing gear math.
Destructive ReachMoves to the first row and covers all damaging spells. Bane also moves to the first row and includes Incinerate; Molten Skin adds damage reduction in row two.
ConflagrateMoves to 16 points and consumes Immolate unless Shadow and Flame prevents it. Aftermath adds an opening Immolate bonus and Conflagrate daze; Fire and Brimstone adds Conflagrate crit.
Bane of HavocNew 21-point talent mirrors 15% of damage dealt to other targets. Incinerate is the 31-point talent behind it; Shadow and Flame rewards alternating Fire and Shadow finishers.
Shadow BoltOctober 8 retuned early ranks so the next rank stays an upgrade. Ruin now takes five points in row three, while Agonizing Flames adds Destruction damage and Searing Pain crit.
Create HealthstoneThe client training list moves its first rank to 10 and the next to 22. Create Soulstone starts at 18 with another rank at 30; check the live trainer before budgeting gold.

Best wand at every level

For an Orc, Troll or Undead warlock, a good wand finishes weak enemies without another mana bill. None of the Forever warlock talents improves wand damage; Affliction can grow into Drain Life as its main filler.

LevelBest wandHow to get itNotes
1 to 4Novice's Practice WandEnchanting with vendor materials, or auction houseNew Forever option, listed at 4 DPS. Use your Imp and spells if the city trip costs more time than it saves.
5 to 12Lesser Magic Wand; compare early quest wands as you qualifyEnchanting 10 or auction house; Cinder Wand from Arugal's Folly; Branding Rod from Isha AwakThe client lists Lesser Magic 11.33 DPS; Cinder 11.79; Branding Rod 21.56. Those quests need travel or help, so they are not fresh level-5 options.
13 to 17Greater Magic Wand; Sizzle Stick if its tooltip winsEnchanting 70 or auction house; Deviate Eradication near Wailing CavernsThe client lists Greater Magic at 17.50 DPS. Keep a stronger earlier quest wand; Riptear's Spare Arm is a fallback, not a guaranteed upgrade.
18 to 26Gravestone Scepter; compare Unstable Power Core at 24Blackfathom Villainy; Source of Power in City of DalaranThe client lists these at about 29 and 29.71 DPS. The quests need groups well above their minimum pickup levels.
26Keep Gravestone Scepter; Gyromatic Icemaker if it dropsEarlier BFD quest; Gnomeregan zone dropThe client lists Gyromatic at 30.36 DPS. Lesser Mystic at 25.38 DPS is only a fallback; do not pay to downgrade.
27 to 29Wand of Mana Concentration; Master Hunter's Wand if you can finish its chainArcanic Enigma, City of Dalaran; Big Game Hunter, Stranglethorn ValeThe client lists these at 31.18 and 34.67 DPS. Big Game Hunter starts from 28 but needs substantial help; Fizzle's Zippy Lighter is another quest option.
30Necrotic Wand; Greater Mystic Wand for a predictable craftAzshir the Sleepless, Scarlet Monastery Graveyard; Enchanting or auction houseThe client lists Necrotic at 33.21 DPS; Greater Mystic about 29 DPS with +5 spell damage. Compare Dancing Flame from Test of Lore if its reported 35 DPS tooltip is live.
37Twisted Nether Wand; keep Dancing Flame if strongerEnchanting 185 formula, source unverified, or auction houseThe Forever tooltip shows 34 DPS, +6 spell damage. The spell damage helps casts, not wand shots; a healing-only number is no reason to switch.
39 to 45White Obsidian WandObsidian Sentinel, Uldaman, according to a Forever player reportPlayers report 41.47 DPS and +6 spell damage. Verify the drop; Dreambough Wand at 43 is a craft fallback if available.
46 to 54Noxious Shooter; Wand of Biting Cold from 51 if obtainableNoxxion, Maraudon; Hero of the Frostwolf, Alterac ValleyNoxious Shooter is the Era target around 50 DPS. Biting Cold is client-listed at 64 DPS, with Forever quest access unverified; Lesser Eternal at 49 is a craft fallback.
55 to 59Keep Wand of Biting Cold; otherwise compare Greater Eternal WandEarlier AV quest; Enchanting 275 formula, source unverifiedThe client lists Greater Eternal at 53.33 DPS. Keep any stronger wand; a higher equip level does not guarantee harder shots.
60Torch of Light for shots; compare Bonecreeper Stylus for castingEnchanting 300 formula, source unverified; Darkmaster Gandling, ScholomanceThe Forever Torch tooltip shows 76.76 DPS, +11 Spirit, +6 spell damage. Bonecreeper is an Era casting option; later raid wands may win once discovered.

These practical candidates use the priest ladder's level bands and carry forward until the next row; compare live DPS for shooting and spell damage for casting, since spell power no longer increases wand shots.

  • ShadowburnTalented instant damage reachable after ten Destruction points. Budget its shard cost; full Shadow and Flame refunds are beyond level 30 without unusual point plans.
  • Death CoilListed at 42, not a beta-cap rescue button. At 60 it adds brief horror and self-healing; Howl of Terror is also later, listed at 40.

Demons, soul shards and stones

Demons, soul shards and stones turn a warlock into a small traveling support department. Start with the basic kit, then learn each demon; Forever changed enough that old stone and sacrifice advice needs a second look.

  3. Buy the demon training your pet needs; check each ability's level.

  5. Create Healthstone at client level 10 and learn Soulstone at 18.
  6. At 20, collect a Sayaad quest and learn Ritual of Summoning.

  • Succubus and Incubus: damage and controlBoth summons are client-listed at 20 through separate chains. Succubus follows Devourer of Souls; Horde Incubus routes use Love Hurts or Hearts of the Lovers. Seduction is learned at 26; keep damage off the humanoid it controls.
  • Felhunter: the caster problem solverAt client level 30, Seeking Strahad leads through Ratchet, Jorah Annison in Undercity and Tome of the Cabal. Bring it for trained Spell Lock and Devour Magic; disable autocasts for precisely timed group duties.
  • Felsteed and Dreadsteed: transportPlan the Era Summon Felsteed quest with Strahad at 40 and Dreadsteed of Xoroth through Mor'zul and Gorzeeki at 60. The latter visits Scholomance and Dire Maul West. Forever listings retain the quests; completion above 30 is untested.
  • Infernal and Doomguard: read before lightingThe client lists Inferno at 50 and Ritual of Doom at 60. Era routes use Niby and Impsy in Felwood, and Daio in the Blasted Lands. They have special reagent and control rules; untested Forever behavior makes them poor surprise dungeon experiments.
  • Farm shards before the invitationForever Drain Soul can produce shards during its channel. Farm safe enemies before grouping and reserve enough for summons, stones and replacement demons. Check current spell reagents rather than assuming every summon has the same cost.
  • Give shards their own drawerThe Era Succubus and Felhunter quests award Small Soul Pouch and Box of Souls, also listed in Forever. Equip the bag and check its count before leaving town; a completely full inventory cannot collect the next drop.
  • Healthstones are for other dads tooCreate one for yourself and trade one to every group member. Check live cooldown sharing before promising a potion-and-stone combination. Refill used stones before the next boss.
  • Soulstone before troubleUse it on the healer and confirm the buff instead of leaving the item in your bags. It prepares a resurrection; it is not an ordinary heal. Client first rank is 18.
  • Stones got a new jobForever Spellstone and Firestone are weapon imbues that stack with Wizard Oil. Spellstone favors Shadow damage and haste; Firestone favors Fire damage and critical chance. Client first ranks are 36 and 28; skip old equip-and-dispel advice.
  • Read the sacrifice menuForever Demonic Sacrifice uses new bonuses: Imp gives Shadow damage, Sayaad gives Fire damage, Voidwalker restores mana and Felhunter restores health. Check your tooltip before sacrificing the demon that is keeping you alive.
  • A demon build needs its demonDemonic Energies supports your pet; Demonic Knowledge needs an active demon. Demonic Pact eventually permits a sacrifice effect with a different demon. Check your talents before dismissing the pet supplying your damage bonus.

Talents and Legacy

Points read Affliction / Demonology / Destruction. These four beta builds spend exactly 21 points at level 30, starting at 10, with no Talented perk; all three level-60 plans spend 51 and remain untested. Follow the level order one point at a time, not an old Era calculator.

Legacy picks for a warlock

Legacy usually opens when a character on your account reaches 25; Blizzard also lists profession and exploration unlocks. Points belong to the account, but each character buys its own perks, with a 16-point spending cap at launch. This is a leveling shopping list, not free launch points.

  1. Well RestedBank more rested XP between bedtime sessions. The client puts this before Talented.5 points
  2. TalentedAt full rank, start talents at 5 and have 26 points at 30. It does not raise the level-60 total above 51.5 points
  3. Thrill of AdventureOutdoor killing blows restore health and mana. Helpful between Life Taps; the client excludes dungeons, raids, and battlegrounds.5 points
  4. Field MedicineShortens Recently Bandaged outside instances. A quiet bandage can save the next snack break.1 point

Perk costs and the Well Rested prerequisite come from client-based Legacy data. Well Rested 5, Talented 5, Thrill of Adventure 5, and Field Medicine 1 fit the 16-point cap. Reagent Economy covers purchasable reagents; do not assume it removes Soul Shards.

Builds at 30, the beta cap

Affliction drain leveling

21/0/0

Keep Corruption instant, protect Drain Life from damage pushback, and reach Siphon Life at 30. This favors steady solo pulls over spending a whole mana bar on one enemy.

Legacy: None assumed. With five extra points, add Soul Siphon 3/3, Malevolence to 4/5, then Shadow Mastery 1/5: 26/0/0, untested.

10-14Improved Corruption 5/5
15-16Improved Life Tap 2/2

27-29Malevolence 3/5
30Siphon Life 1/1
  • Instant Corruption after five points.
  • Nightfall gives an instant Shadow Bolt when it triggers.
  • Siphon Life arrives at 30; Wrack does not.

Demonology pet partner

0/21/0

Let the Voidwalker take the first hits, use Demonic Energies to support it, and reach Soul Link at 30. Demonic Sacrifice is required for Soul Link; leave the demon alive during ordinary pet leveling.

Legacy: None assumed. With five extra points, add Demonic Knowledge 3/3, Unholy Power 1/5, then Master Demonologist 1/5: 0/26/0, untested.

  • Decimation is omitted: Soul Fire is not trained until 48.

Destruction dungeon damage

0/0/21

Faster casts, Shadowburn, and Conflagrate give short fights some punch. Bane of Havoc at 30 adds a second-target option, but takes the same Bane slot as Agony on its target.

Legacy: None assumed. With five extra points, add Fire and Brimstone 3/3, Intensity to 2/3, then Shadow and Flame 1/5: 0/0/26, untested.

10-14Bane 5/5
15-19Aftermath 5/5

26-28Agonizing Flames 3/3

30Bane of Havoc 1/1
  • Conflagrate at 25 consumes your Immolate.
  • Ruin is 4/5 here; you have only 21 points.
  • Incinerate needs 31 Destruction points, so not at 30.

Affliction control and range

19/0/2

Trade the 21-point Affliction milestone for Curse of Exhaustion and wider damaging-spell range. Useful for cautious kiting or world PvP; the slow replaces your other Curse, not your Bane.

Legacy: None assumed. With five extra points, add Soul Harvest to 2/2, Siphon Life 1/1, then Soul Siphon 3/3: 24/0/2, untested.

10-14Improved Corruption 5/5
15-16Improved Life Tap 2/2

26-27Nightfall 2/2
28Soul Harvest 1/2
29-30Destructive Reach 2/2
  • Amplify Curse is required for Curse of Exhaustion.
  • Destructive Reach helps damaging spells, not every utility spell.
  • Siphon Life waits beyond the cap without Legacy.

Plans for 60

Affliction at 60 Untested

31/0/20

Reach Wrack at 40, then add faster casts and Destruction critical damage. This is a drain-focused starting plan, not a proven raid ranking; revisit Suppression and actual hit needs when encounters are known.

Demonology at 60 Untested

5/31/15

Reach Demonic Pact at 40, then add Suppression and Ruin. Pair a sacrifice bonus with a different living demon; this version favors pet continuity and leaves Decimation out, so test a Soul Fire variant after training it at 48.

10-19Demonic Embrace 5/5, Demonic Energies 2/2, Improved Voidwalker 3/3

Gear and consumables

Cloth, spell damage, and enough health to finish the pull. These picks work for Horde Orc, Troll and Undead warlocks. Level-30 stats are client data; level-60 routes are era planning. Gaming after bedtime does not require farming every rare drop.

What stats matter, and when

StageWhat to stackWhy
Leveling 1 to 30Spell damage for your school, then Stamina and Intellect; keep useful Spirit upgradesYour spells do the work and your health also funds Life Tap. Spirit now improves Life Tap in Forever, so it has more use than old era raid lists suggest. Take a strong wand early; spell power does not increase Shoot damage.
DungeonsSpell damage, enough spell hit for the target, then Intellect and Stamina; Spirit for recoveryUse general spell damage when mixing Shadow and Fire. School damage helps only its own spells. Save enough health for accidental visitors and tap where the healer can afford it.
RaidSpell hit to the cap first, then spell damage, then spell critUse 16% total hit against a boss three levels higher as the Classic era planning target. Suppression gives 1% hit per rank, up to 5%, for all spells in Forever; that would leave 11% from gear at 5/5. Blizzard has not confirmed the Forever raid cap, and level-63 bosses cannot be tested in the level-30 beta. If the last 1% miss is removed, the target would be 17% total or 12% gear hit. Do not score extra hit past the applicable cap. Pandemic makes crit relevant to Affliction too.
PvPStamina, spell damage and Intellect; enough hit for your opponentHealth buys time for Fear, a pet interrupt or a Healthstone. Spirit helps Life Tap, but surviving the opening stun takes priority. A damage score cannot measure that.

Gear to aim for by 30

Every listed equip requirement is 30 or lower. Stats come from Wowhead Forever tooltips, including the shared tooltip cache, and are client data. Use the Shadow crafts for Shadow damage and the Flame crafts for Fire. BoP means only the crafter can wear it. A staff replaces both hand slots. Rare trinkets are a nice surprise, not family homework.

Best weapon at every level

Your staff is a bundle of spell stats, so its melee damage is not the goal. These practical Horde picks cover every level; use a dagger and off-hand when their combined spell damage and useful stats beat the staff.

LevelBest weaponHow to get itNotes
1 to 9Starting dagger; cheap caster staff after trainingStarter quests or ordinary dropsSave gold for spells and demon training; no need to buy a white melee upgrade.
10 to 14Staff of OrgrimmarHidden Enemies, Ragefire ChasmForever +18 spell damage makes this an all-spec goal. Pickup opens at 9; a normal dungeon group comes later.
15 to 19Gnarled Necromancer's Staff or Crescent StaffThe Wrath of Rath'mael, Ruins of Lordaeron; Leaders of the Fang, Wailing CavernsThese client-listed damage upgrades work for all specs. Take the available reward and compare Stamina, Intellect and Spirit.
20 to 25Staff of Soran'rukDoan Karhan's The Orb of Soran'ruk; Shadowfang Keep and Blackfathom Deeps fragmentsThe Forever tooltip shows +34 Fire and Shadow damage, +14 Stamina. Available from a level-20 quest, usually finished later; keep your earlier staff until then.
26 to 29Keep Staff of Soran'rukEarlier class quest; compare discovered caster dropsIts damage helps all specs. A healing staff with less spell damage trades damage for other stats; compare before swapping.
30 to 33Keep Staff of Soran'ruk; Soulstaff if your Enchanting tooltip winsClass quest; Forever profession craftCurrent Forever listings put Hypnotic Blade and Illusionary Rod at 34. Soulstaff requires Enchanting; check binding and skill before spending.
34 to 41Hypnotic Blade plus Orb of Soran'ruk; Illusionary Rod alternativeArcanist Doan, Scarlet Monastery Library; earlier warlock questForever listings give +44 spell damage on Blade or Rod. If you chose the class staff, use another available caster off-hand; do not assume both quest rewards are collectible. From 35, compare the Era Dar'Orahil Shadow or Noh'Orahil Fire off-hand branch; Forever reward stats remain unverified.
42 to 49Zum'rah's Vexing Cane; keep a stronger Forever weaponWitch Doctor Zum'rah, Zul'FarrakAn Era all-spec staff target from 42. Compare live spell damage against reworked Library weapons before farming.
50 to 57Caster dagger plus Spirit of Aquementas; Soul Harvester staff alternativeLinken's Un'Goro chain; Trolls of a Feather, Sunken TempleThe Era off-hand gives +20 spell damage. Compare the full pair; Soul Harvester competes with the unique Abyss Shard quest reward.
58 to 60Darkspear Insurgent's Spellblade plus Spirit of Aquementas; Rod of the Ogre Magi alternativeRevered Darkspear Raiders at 58; Linken chain; Dire Maul North tributeThe client dagger tooltip shows +72 spell damage; high-level vendor access is untested. Witchblade from Scholomance is an Era fallback; compare all live tooltips.

No universal best weapon is verified at every Forever level: beta and client picks below 31 are candidates, later Era targets are provisional, and school-specific damage only helps that school.

Pre-raid targets at 60

Seventeen practical Classic pre-raid targets or alternatives, with Forever database entries or quest references. Treat their acquisition routes as era data until launch. This is not tested Forever best-in-slot: several low-level weapons gained enough spell power to beat old endgame picks. Shadow-only pieces need the listed Fire alternatives when changing schools. A database entry does not promise the item or its recipe will be available on launch day.

Flask of Supreme Power is an expensive era raid option, with Forever access unconfirmed.Heavy Runecloth Bandages, Free Action Potion and a comfortable Soul Shard reserve for summons, pets, Healthstones and Soulstones. Dark or Demonic Runes are era emergency mana options that cost health; avoid pairing them with a low-health Life Tap.

Healing-potion recipes moved to First Aid; mana potions remain Alchemy. Healthstones are your own safety button, not permission to tap into the floor. Check the current cooldowns before combining potions, stones and runes. Spell power no longer boosts wand Shoot damage. Firestones and Spellstones are weapon imbues in Forever and can stack with Wizard Oil. The old Elixir of Greater Firepower ID now gives Holy damage; do not buy it for a warlock. Supplies and acquisition routes above 30 remain launch plans.

Gear planner

Compare Shadow and Fire scores using a published Classic warlock baseline adapted to each school; these era estimates omit pet damage, procs, survival and Forever's Spirit scaling, and hit only helps below the target's cap.

Warlock in groups

Bring damage, a demon and the useful little rocks nobody remembers until they need one. These group habits use Classic Era practice unless a Forever change or client level is named; agree on the plan before the tank starts running.

Set up your screen

  1. Show party health and mana, especially the healer's mana bar.
  2. Keep your pet bar visible; bind Attack, Follow and Passive separately.
  3. Disable pet taunts with a player tank; keep called interrupts and Seduction manual.
  4. Show your curse, Bane and damage-over-time timers on enemy nameplates.
  5. Bind Healthstone and keep Soulstone buff status visible.
  6. Enable threat warnings and learn the leader's marks before the first pull.

Raid marks

  • SkullMain kill target: assist after tank threat is secure.
  • CrossSecond kill target: wait for the called switch.
  • DiamondYour Banish target if assigned; announce resists or release.
  • MoonAnother player's control target: no pet attacks, damage-over-time spells or area damage.
  • SquareReserved control or emergency Fear only if the leader says so; marks are guild conventions.

Habits that keep the group alive

  • Summon before pullingAt client level 20, Ritual of Summoning needs you and two helpers at the destination in the same party or raid. Save shards and summon to a cleared spot. Current beta reports say meeting stones do not replace you.
  • Healthstones for everyoneCreate Healthstone begins at client level 10. Trade one to each player before the run and replace used stones between pulls; a stone nobody has cannot save anyone.
  • Soulstone the healerCreate Soulstone begins at client level 18. Apply it to the healer before a risky pull and tell them; after a wipe, wait until danger clears before reviving.
  • One Banish ownerBanish starts at client level 28 and controls demons or elementals. Take one marked target, watch its timer and announce a resist or release immediately. Renew on the agreed call.
  • Fear needs empty spaceAsk before using Fear. A frightened enemy can collect another room of friends; prefer Banish or learned Seduction when the creature type permits. Plan the recovery before a fear pull.
  • Curse assignment firstForever Elements covers all magic and Curse of Shadows is gone. Assign one Elements caster; use Tongues or Recklessness where requested. Recklessness strengthens enemy attacks, so check with the tank.
  • Keep your Bane separateForever separates curses from Banes. Maintain your assigned curse alongside one Bane of your own; keep damage-over-time effects off enemies the group needs controlled.
  • Pick the demon for the jobImp supplies Blood Pact; Felhunter has trained Spell Lock and Devour Magic; Succubus or Incubus offers damage and learned Seduction. Use Voidwalker for solo safety or an agreed emergency, with taunts off around a player tank.
  • Tap with the healer in mindLife Tap exchanges health for mana. Tap between safe pulls, eat or drain back your health, and stop before incoming damage. A healer who is already drinking does not owe you a refill.
  • Let the tank build threatAssist the marked target after the tank controls it. Multi-target damage and Searing Pain can pull enemies onto you; Forever Suppression helps but does not remove threat management.
  • Ask before the big fireRain of Fire and Hellfire need a stable pull and clear control targets. Hellfire damages you too; check health and healer readiness, then stop if the pack turns.
  • Recall before the shortcutUse Follow or Passive before ledges, skips and narrow paths; dismiss if the route requires it. Watch where the demon actually goes before sending it in again.

Which ability when

Choose the spell that solves the problem, then keep enough health and mana for the next one. Level-30 choices use the client training list and named talents; level-60 additions are untested, and older tactics are marked Era.

SituationAt 30At 60Why
One enemy while levelingSend your demon, use Corruption and a Bane if their ticks will pay off, then Drain Life for health or use a suitable direct spell. Affliction can add Siphon Life at 30; Destruction can use talented Conflagrate on Immolate.Affliction adds talented Wrack. Destruction adds talented Incinerate with Immolate; Demonology can try trained Soul Fire from 48, especially with Decimation if you choose it.Use effects that have time to work. A dying enemy does not need the entire spellbook.
Several enemiesUse Rain of Fire only when the tank has control and no crowd control will break. Hellfire at 30 hurts you too; use it only with a safe plan.Keep the same discipline. Talented Bane of Havoc can mirror damage onto one sturdy target while you attack another; it replaces your other Bane there.Area damage adds threat as well as numbers. Keep a way out.
A caster starts troubleSpell Lock needs level 36, so it isn't there at the beta cap. Curse of Tongues (from 26) slows the next casts, and Fear can stop a caster when it has nowhere dangerous to run.Keep Spell Lock ready for the dangerous cast. Talented Improved Felhunter can shorten its cooldown; Death Coil offers another emergency stop on a vulnerable target.Tongues is not an interrupt. Check what must stop now and what can wait.
A runner heads for friendsUse Curse of Recklessness to prevent fleeing, or talented Curse of Exhaustion to slow. Recklessness also suppresses Fear under Era rules; test that interaction and choose deliberately.Use those same controls with trained ranks. A short finisher is fine when it will land before the runner reaches another pack.Stopping one runner is cheaper than meeting its extended family.
Your health is lowUse your Healthstone or a health potion, stop Life Tap, and make safe space. Drain Life helps if you can channel; a trained Voidwalker Sacrifice can buy time at the cost of your pet.Add Death Coil from 42 for a heal and brief horror, or Shadow Ward from 32 against Shadow damage. Keep a safe exit in mind.A recovery button pressed early can save the cast you would otherwise never finish.
Mana or shards are lowLife Tap only with health to spare. Drain Soul a safe non-trivial target to build shards; if both bars are low between pulls, eat and drink.Keep a shard reserve for the encounter and a replacement demon. Demonic Sacrifice can provide mana from a Voidwalker if talented, with the cost of losing that pet.Mana and Soul Shards solve different shortages. One does not replace the other.
A dungeon pull needs controlBanish a marked demon or elemental from 28. A trained Succubus or Incubus can Seduce a suitable humanoid; leave its target free of damage.Use the same assigned controls and refresh deliberately. A banished enemy cannot be damaged under Era rules; test that behavior and plan when the group will kill it.A clear control assignment beats discovering everyone chose a different skull.
An enemy turns from pet or tank to youStop damage and move toward the tank in a dungeon. Solo, let the Voidwalker rebuild threat; talented Demonic Brand can help its Shadow bonus hits generate threat.Keep the same recovery and review Suppression if threat stays troublesome. Soul Link shares damage but does not hand aggro back.Moving the enemy somewhere useful gives the tank or pet a chance to recover.
A group member is in troubleUse a trained Felhunter Devour Magic on a removable effect or control the attacker safely. Give Healthstones before combat; a stone still in your bag cannot save a teammate across the room.Death Coil or Howl of Terror can peel when the location is safe and the target is vulnerable. Agree on the Soulstone recipient before the next pull.Warlock rescue is preparation and control. You are not the backup priest.
A player opens on youUse your pet control to make space, then apply pressure, an Era tactic to test in Forever. Undead can break Charm, Fear, or Sleep with Will of the Forsaken; Orc can use Shatter Curse against Curses, Banes, and magic pressure.Add Death Coil and situational Shadow Ward, and keep the correct demon nearby. Test control interactions rather than assuming an Era matchup works unchanged.Get room to act before trying the clever damage sequence.

Raid night checklist

Tick things off as you pack. Ticks stay in this browser; clear them before the next raid night.

Raids in Forever

  • Leveling starts November 4, 2026. Blizzard schedules the first raids for December 9: Onyxia's Lair, 40 players; Barrow Deeps, 10; Hyjal Summit, 20.
  • Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit names below come from beta data. Warlock mechanics, kill order and attunements are unknown; boss names are not strategies.
  • Other raids below are Classic Era planning references with no verified Forever opening dates. The beta cap is 30, so level-60 tuning and pet survival remain untested.
  • Forever separates curses and Banes, expands Elements to all magic and removes Curse of Shadows. Assign curse owners before each boss.
  • Bring shards for travel, stones, replacement demons and recovery. Farm before raid time and count again after wipes.
  • Every Classic mechanic below uses an era tag, including Onyxia despite its confirmed Forever date. New raids have no verified boss tactics.
  • Supply counts are evening suggestions, not shopping orders. Check live cooldown sharing, reagents and item tooltips.

Before the raid: assignments

  1. Split curse duties: Elements for all magic, then Tongues, Recklessness or another agreed curse where useful; Forever has no Curse of Shadows.
  2. Assign Banish marks and backups; agree on demons, interrupt timing and safe area damage.
  3. Split Soulstones across healers, choose a summon spot and distribute Healthstones before ready checks.

Before every pull

  1. Confirm your demon and its health and mana; disable taunts and reserved autocasts.
  2. Count shards and replace missing Healthstones before the pull.
  3. Confirm your assigned healer has the Soulstone buff and knows it.
  4. Read curse and Banish assignments; keep damage off control targets.
  5. Check health before Life Tap, then mana, weapon imbue and agreed consumables.
  6. Stand in your assigned spot, wait for tank threat and call control breaks early.

Warlock tips

A living demon, a few spare shards, and one clear plan go a long way. Forever changes use Blizzard posts or client tooltips; older play habits are marked Era.

Leveling

  • Give the demon a moment. Send it in, then apply damage the enemy will live long enough to take. Letting it land first makes the opening calmer, an Era habit to recheck in Forever.
  • Finish cheaply. A wand can finish a nearly dead target without mana. Do not buy a whole new set of damage-over-time effects for its last second of life.
  • Keep useful ranks current. Train your main damage spells and Drain Life. October 8 retuned early Shadow Bolt ranks, so old rank-skipping advice needs a fresh look.

Health and mana

  • Tap with room to spare. Life Tap turns health into mana and now scales with Spirit. Tap between pulls while you can eat or drain safely; warn the healer before making your bar their problem.
  • Drain to recover. Drain Life damages and heals. Fel Concentration reduces damage pushback on it; it does not make you immune to interrupts or stuns.
  • Bring food and water. Health is a resource, but so is the healer's patience. Sit down when both bars need help instead of demanding a refill.

Soul Shards

  • Restock before the invitation. Drain Soul can give shards on damage ticks against non-trivial enemies, and guarantees one when it kills a valid target. Keep bag space free.
  • Save a reserve. Keep shards for a replacement demon, stones, and summons. Pick a reserve that fits your next dungeon rather than deleting the last one for vendor trash.
  • Separate two rewards. Shard generation and Soul Harvest are different: the talent wants a non-trivial kill with Drain Soul on the target. A shard appearing mid-channel does not promise the mana buff.

Demon care

  • Read the pet bar. Learn Attack, Follow, and Passive before a dungeon, as you would in Era. Move the demon with the group and watch its path around ledges.
  • Feed the partnership. Health Funnel spends your health to heal your demon. Demonic Energies can help with pet health and mana if talented; it does not excuse an unattended pet.
  • Choose the job. The familiar Era roles still need live checking: Voidwalker for solo protection, Imp for ranged damage and Blood Pact, Succubus or Incubus for Seduction, Felhunter for caster control. Pet spells need their own training.

Dungeons

  • Protect the control mark. Banish is listed at 28 for demons and elementals. Agree on the target before anyone starts damage or sends a pet, a useful Era habit.
  • Fear needs space. A fleeing enemy can bring friends under Era behavior, so check the route in Forever too. In tight rooms, ask before using Fear and check what lies behind the target.
  • Area damage is a team choice. Rain of Fire starts at 20; Hellfire at 30 also hurts you. Wait for a stable pull and keep damage away from controlled enemies.

Group habits

  • Make the stones early. The client lists Healthstone at 10 and Soulstone at 18. Offer stones and agree who gets the wipe-recovery Soulstone before the pull, following the Era habit.
  • Summons need preparation. Ritual of Summoning is listed at 20. Arrange helpers and a safe meeting spot before promising a taxi service, following the Era setup until tested live.
  • Bring trouble to the tank. If an enemy turns to you, stop damage and move toward the tank. Do not send your demon after a different room while everyone rescues you.

Forever reminders

  • A Curse and a Bane fit together. Use a useful Curse with Bane of Agony. Bane of Havoc takes the Bane slot on its target, so it cannot share that target with your Agony.
  • Imbues are spell tools now. Firestone and Spellstone coexist with Wizard Oil. Their Fire or Shadow bonus matters; do not treat either as an old Era melee gimmick.
  • Swapping demons has a cost. October 8 makes your current pet stunned while you summon another. Prepare the next demon before a dangerous pull whenever possible.

Horde choices

  • Orc: burst and protection. Blood Fury gives 10% Attack Power and Spell Power for 15 seconds. Shatter Curse grants Curse and Bane immunity plus reduced magic damage for 8 seconds. Hardiness shortens stuns by 20%; Axe Specialization adds 1% crit while using an axe, so do not count it on a warlock without axe proficiency.
  • Troll: the new warlock choice. Berserking gives 10% casting and attack speed for 10 seconds. Rapid Regeneration restores 50% maximum health over time. Beast Slaying adds 5% damage against Beasts; Regeneration retains 10% health regeneration in combat.
  • Undead: recovery and control breaks. Will of the Forsaken removes Charm, Fear, and Sleep without lasting immunity. Cannibalize restores 35% health and mana over time from corpses. Underwater Breathing lasts 300% longer; Touch of the Grave sometimes drains health on attacks.
  • Pick the one you enjoy. Blizzard lists Orc, Troll, and Undead as Horde warlocks. Tauren and Horde Skyborne have no warlock box in the race table.

Addons and UI

Start with Blizzard's own tools, then add only what helps you track your DoTs, threat and your demon. Readable bars beat a cockpit.

  • Default raid-style party frames Works in Forever

Edit Mode lets you use compact raid-style party frames and move them where you can read them. Put health bars and debuffs near your character, then use this guide's mouseover keys to heal without changing targets.

Forever UI source includes the Edit Mode setting, checked Oct 14, 2026

  • Default Cooldown Manager Works in Forever

Blizzard's tracker supports class abilities, racials, and trinkets, with consumable support still due in a later patch. Keep Fear Ward and your talented cooldowns in view before shopping for more trackers.

Official October 8 support update, checked Oct 14, 2026

  • Default nameplates Works in Forever

Blizzard's nameplates put enemy health and cast bars above the mobs. Keep enemy plates visible so you can spot a loose mob while your mouse stays near the party frames.

  • Default Damage Meter Works in Forever

The built-in meter shows healing, damage, dispels, and deaths, and you can position it in Edit Mode. Review healing and deaths after the pull; a bigger number is less useful than a living tank.

  • ThreatClassic2 Works in Forever

The Forever version shows threat for your enemy target, but its friendly-target healer mode is unavailable on this client. Damage over time on many targets builds threat everywhere. Check the list before you curse the whole pack.

2.75-forever and explicit Forever limits, checked Oct 14, 2026

  • A damage and healing meter with overheal, dispel and death views. Use healing and overheal views to review wasted casts if they work in your build, rather than turning every pull into a family leaderboard.

Oct 14 release supports 1.60.1; warlock views unverified, Oct 14, 2026

  • Questie Works in Forever

Questie's Forever-supported package adds quest markers and a quest database. Use it to collect dungeon quests before the group leaves town, which saves a warlock several apologetic boat rides.

    v12.1.0+v1.0.6 lists Forever 1.60.1, checked Oct 14, 2026

  • Baganator Works in Forever

Baganator gives you searchable bags in one window or categories and requires its Syndicator dependency. Keep water, candles, potions, and spare healing gear easy to find before the tank starts counting down.

837 lists Forever support, checked Oct 14, 2026

  • Bartender4 Works in Forever

Bartender4 lets you rearrange action bars and bind their buttons. Give your demon's bar a spot you can see, and put Fear, Death Coil and Howl of Terror where you can hit them blind.

4.18.3.1 lists Forever support, checked Oct 14, 2026

  • Regular WeakAuras is not a drop-in Forever setup; Musca Auras is a 1.60.1 port whose modern aura triggers work within the client's limits. Useful reminders to test are missing Inner Fire, Fear Ward cooldown, talented Power Infusion ready once learned, shield and Weakened Soul, mana potion cooldown, and a five-second-rule ticker.

Musca 1.9.1 supports 1.60.1; these warlock auras unverified, Oct 14, 2026

Add and test one addon at a time, including a Fear on your mouseover target and a pet attack, before adding the next.

Tips

  • Expert needs character level 20; Artisan needs 35 in the shared era profession route. Plan around skill 225 in the level-30 beta.
  • Shadow damage does not improve Fire spells, and Fire damage does not improve Shadow Bolt or your Shadow damage-over-time spells. Use general spell power for a mixed build.
  • Keep First Aid. Bandages and its healing potions help you recover after Life Tap without making the healer your personal battery.
  • BoP crafts must be made by the wearer. Keep your old weapon until the replacement and its enchant are ready.
  • Horde supply camps sell Merchant's Favor formulas. Save the currency for a craft you will actually wear.

  • The six ranges are shopping stages, not minimum enchant equip levels. Check formula, material and target-item requirements. Skill above 225 requires an enchanter beyond current beta access.
  • Shadow Power gloves add 20 Shadow damage and use a real shared recipe ID. Fire Power is an era +20 Fire damage enchant, but its recipe is absent from recipes.json. For Fire, the available Minor Haste recipe is the fallback; it is not equivalent to 20 Fire damage.
  • The calculator button on a Shadow Power cell adds that recipe. Fire players should use the Minor Haste cell instead; it uses enchant-gloves-minor-haste at skill 250.
  • Ruin and Pandemic change how valuable crit is for your build. Revelation affects direct spells; do not assume it works on every periodic tick.
  • Firestones and Spellstones are weapon imbues that Blizzard explicitly says stack with temporary enchants such as Wizard Oil. They do not occupy your gear off-hand slot. Keep a permanent weapon enchant too.
  • Ordinary Enchanting has no head or leg entry in this matrix. Quest arcanums are separate era options whose Forever acquisition needs checking. Do not substitute a mage-only class enchant for a warlock one.
  • Cloak Subtlety and the Shadow Power glove formula have era raid sources. A level-60 column does not promise these will be available at launch.
  • Wand Shoot no longer scales with spell power. These enchants improve the spells you cast, not the wand's own damage.

Troubleshooting

My Fear broke right away
Damage can break Fear in Classic Era; verify that behavior on the beta. Keep your damage and demon off the controlled enemy, and check for an immunity or dispel.
I ran out of soul shards
Let Drain Soul tick on a suitable enemy and leave bag space. Forever can grant shards during the channel; pack extras before summon and stone duty.
My Voidwalker won't hold aggro
Check Torment is learned, enabled as intended, and has pet mana and melee range. Give the demon a head start; Demonic Brand only adds high threat when its pet damage is Shadow.
Seduction broke on its own
Damage ends Seduction. Keep the Humanoid clean and stop sending attack, follow, or repeated Seduction orders that interrupt the pet channel.
Life Tap almost killed me
The macro cannot read your health. Tap with health to spare and recover before the next pull; do not ask the healer to fund every blue bar.
My mouseover picked the wrong enemy
A living enemy under your pointer wins even out of range. Move off enemy bodies and frames to use your selected enemy; range failure does not choose a fallback.
My old curse or Dark Pact key is red
Use Bane of Agony, Bane of Doom, and Subjugate Demon from the Forever spellbook. Curse of Shadow and Dark Pact are removed; insert current names from your spellbook.
The key does nothing or uses the wrong stone
Check level, talent, active demon, reagents, and exact bag item name. Test without addons and check modifier keybind conflicts; focus macros remain untested on the beta.

Graphics and console settings

36 commands

A steady frame rate keeps pet control responsive, and readable ground effects help you step out of danger before the next drain tick. Start at native resolution and 100% render scale, with Low or Fair shadows, Medium particles and Projected Textures on. Cap your frame rate at what your PC can hold, and 30 in the background. Write down every value before you change it so you can put it back.

The Forever look

The September tip from Icy Veins that went around the community: render scale 98%, contrast 60, brightness 40 (some players prefer 45). The same sliders are in Settings > Graphics (Render Scale under Resolution; Contrast, Brightness and Gamma further down). It depends on your monitor, so try it in a foggy zone and keep what looks right.

Write down your current look first

Prints render scale, contrast, brightness and gamma so you can put them back.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"RenderScale","Contrast","Brightness","Gamma"}) do print(n,C_CVar.GetCVar(n)) end

The Forever look: 98% scale, contrast 60, brightness 40

Icy Veins says 98% render scale cleans up the image and can save a few frames, and contrast 60 with brightness 40 makes the new fog stand out. One player post uses brightness 45. It depends on your monitor.

3 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console RenderScale 0.98
/console Contrast 60
/console Brightness 40

Undo: back to the game's defaults

Resets render scale, contrast and brightness to the client defaults. If you wrote down different values, type those instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"RenderScale","Contrast","Brightness"}) do local d=C_CVar.GetCVarDefault(n); if d then C_CVar.SetCVar(n,d) end end

Record first

Screenshot Settings > Graphics (Base, Raid and Advanced) before you touch anything. These read-only lines print your current values to chat.

Read your current foreground cap

Prints your current maxFPS cap to chat and changes nothing. The on/off switch for the cap (useMaxFPS) is a separate setting, so this alone does not tell you whether the cap is on.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("maxFPS", C_CVar.GetCVar("maxFPS"))

Read the game's default cap

Prints what the game thinks the default maxFPS is, and changes nothing. That is the game's default, not the value you had before, so write your own down too.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("maxFPS default", C_CVar.GetCVarDefault("maxFPS"))

Record cap switches, VSync and render scale

Prints six settings in one go: both FPS caps and their on/off switches, VSync and render scale. Write the results down before you change anything so you can put them back.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"useMaxFPS","maxFPS","useMaxFPSBk","maxFPSBk","vsync","RenderScale"}) do print(n,C_CVar.GetCVar(n)) end

Restore a recorded 120 FPS cap

Puts maxFPS back to 120. That is only an example: type whatever value you wrote down before tuning, not 120 because we said so.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console maxFPS 120

Reset one setting to the game's default

Asks the game for its default maxFPS and sets just that one setting back to it (swap in another name to reset a different setting). A default is not always what you had before, so if you wrote your old value down, type that instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run local n="maxFPS"; local d=C_CVar.GetCVarDefault(n); if d then C_CVar.SetCVar(n,d) end

Balanced starting profile

Native resolution, 100% render scale, 60 FPS while playing and 30 in the background, with combat effects kept readable.

Balanced starting profile

FPS, frame pacing and heat

Raise the cap only if your monitor and real frame rate make it worthwhile.

Test 90 FPS foreground / 30 background

Turns on both FPS caps: 90 while you are playing, 30 when the game is in the background. A cap cannot make a struggling PC reach 90; it just stops a fast one working harder and hotter than it needs to.

4 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console useMaxFPS 1
/console maxFPS 90
/console useMaxFPSBk 1
/console maxFPSBk 30

Turn the foreground cap off properly

Switches the foreground FPS cap off with its real switch, useMaxFPS 0. The old tip of setting maxFPS 0 is a guess; this is the actual switch, and your stored maxFPS number stays put for when you turn the cap back on.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console useMaxFPS 0

Disable Target FPS for a controlled test

Turns off Target FPS, a separate feature that is not the same thing as the FPS cap. Leave it as you found it unless it is muddying a before-and-after test; note its state first and put it back afterwards.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console useTargetFPS 0

Test VSync disabled

Turns the game's VSync off. It can feel more responsive but may show tearing, so compare it with your monitor and driver settings rather than assuming off is better.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console vsync 0

Enable VSync if tearing distracts

Turns the game's VSync back on if tearing bothers you. If you wrote down a different starting value, that is your real undo; no VSync choice is best for every monitor and driver.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console vsync 1

If FPS is still too low

Lower shadows and water first. Render scale is the last resort.

Lower-cost graphics experiment

Drops shadows and water to Low, turns ambient occlusion off, and lowers view distance, environment detail and ground clutter; the settings menu shows those three as 4, 4 and 2. Try one change at a time in the spot that was slow and keep only what actually helps.

6 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console graphicsShadowQuality 0
/console graphicsSSAO 0
/console graphicsViewDistance 3
/console graphicsEnvironmentDetail 3
/console graphicsGroundClutter 1
/console graphicsLiquidDetail 0

Try 85% render scale (last resort)

Sets render scale to 0.85, which is 85% in each direction and about 72% as many pixels to draw. Only use a value your Render Scale slider actually offers, and treat it as a last resort because it softens the picture.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RenderScale 0.85

Return to 100% render scale

Puts render scale back to 1 (100%) after the 85% test. If you started somewhere other than 100%, type your recorded value instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RenderScale 1

Keep combat cues visible

Healers need to see ground effects. Keep these on.

Preserve readable combat cues

Keeps projected textures on and particles at Medium so you can still see what is on the floor. Turning either off is a classic FPS-macro trick that can hide combat cues a healer needs.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console graphicsProjectedTextures 1
/console graphicsParticleDensity 3

Antialiasing

Try the cheap image-based option before expensive MSAA.

Antialiasing: None

Turns off both kinds of antialiasing (MSAAQuality and ffxAntiAliasingMode) so you can see how much they cost you. Write both values down first and put both back afterwards.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console MSAAQuality 0
/console ffxAntiAliasingMode 0

Antialiasing: FXAA Low test

Turns MSAA off and switches on FXAA Low (ffxAntiAliasingMode 1), the cheap way to smooth jagged edges. Compare it with None: you are trading a bit of blur for smoother edges.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console MSAAQuality 0
/console ffxAntiAliasingMode 1

Test 8x texture filtering

Sets textureFilteringMode 4, which is 8x anisotropic filtering (5 is 16x). It sharpens distant ground seen at an angle; it is not guaranteed to be free, so check your frame rate and put it back if it costs you.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console textureFilteringMode 4

Raid profile

Lower settings that switch on only in raids.

Optional lower-cost Raid profile

Turns on the separate Raid profile (RAIDsettingsEnabled 1) and gives it lighter settings for group content: Low shadows and water, Fair particles, projected textures on, ambient occlusion off, draw sliders showing 4/4/2, and High textures. If Fair particles hide something you need to see, bump them back to Medium in the Raid tab.

Go back to the Base profile

Switches the Raid profile off so the game uses your Base settings everywhere again. It does not reset the Raid values themselves; they are just not in use.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RAIDsettingsEnabled 0

Responsiveness and latency

Input feel and network delay are separate from frame rate.

Optional cast on key down

Sets ActionButtonUseKeyDown 1 so your abilities fire when you press the key instead of when you let go, which can feel a touch snappier. Bars and addons that set their own useOnKeyDown behaviour can ignore it, and it does nothing for ping or FPS.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console ActionButtonUseKeyDown 1

Check whether SpellQueueWindow exists

Prints your current SpellQueueWindow value and changes nothing. We could not confirm from the Forever UI files that this setting exists or what it does here, so if it prints nil, leave it alone.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("SpellQueueWindow",C_CVar.GetCVar("SpellQueueWindow"))

Ask the game what SpellQueueWindow does

Asks the game for its own help text on SpellQueueWindow and prints it, changing nothing. If nothing comes back, the setting is not there and you can stop here.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,v in ipairs(ConsoleGetAllCommands()) do if v.command:lower()=="spellqueuewindow" then print(v.command,v.help) end end

Try a 300 ms spell queue (only if it exists)

Sets SpellQueueWindow to 300 ms. Only try it if the game confirmed the setting exists and you are coming down from a bigger value to chase a specific casting problem: it cannot lower your ping, and too small a window leaves gaps between casts, so compare and put it back if it feels worse.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.

Prints your home and world latency in milliseconds, the same numbers the game's own performance indicator uses. It is one snapshot, not an average, and it changes nothing.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run local _,_,h,w=GetNetStats(); print("Home",h,"ms; World",w,"ms")

Renderer

See which graphics API you are running.

See your graphics API choices

Prints the graphics APIs your game can use, then which one is running right now and which one gxapi is asking for (they can differ until you restart). Stick with Auto unless you are chasing a real rendering problem, and only pick names the game listed.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/run print("Available:",GetGraphicsAPIs())
/run print("Current:",GetCurrentGraphicsAPI(),"Requested:",C_CVar.GetCVar("gxapi"))

Readability and accessibility

Cooldown numbers, nameplates, a bigger cursor and less screen shake.

Turn on helpful numbers in the default UI

Turns on cooldown countdown numbers, a target-of-target frame, and health and mana text shown as both numbers and percentages (statusText and statusTextDisplay work as a pair). Pure readability, no FPS change; addon frames may do their own thing.

4 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console countdownForCooldowns 1
/console showTargetOfTarget 1
/console statusText 1
/console statusTextDisplay BOTH

Optional enemy nameplates

Shows enemy nameplates, and shows them all the time rather than only in combat. Handy for picking out mobs; not an FPS trick.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console nameplateShowEnemies 1
/console nameplateShowAll 1

A bigger cursor (64x64)

Sets cursorSizePreferred 2, which asks for a 64x64 cursor that is easier to find over a wall of party frames. The other sizes are -1 Default, 0 32x32, 1 48x48, 3 96x96 and 4 128x128; pick one you can find without it covering the thing you want to click.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console cursorSizePreferred 2

Reduce camera and UI shake

Turns camera and UI shake down to a quarter strength (0.25 for both). A comfort setting, not a performance one; put both values back to undo.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console ShakeStrengthCamera 0.25
/console ShakeStrengthUI 0.25

Disable camera and UI shake

Turns camera and UI shake off completely (0 for both). Other effects that bother you may still be there; the Motion Sickness checkbox in Accessibility handles two more camera settings as a pair.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console ShakeStrengthCamera 0
/console ShakeStrengthUI 0

Use Alternate Screen Effects

Sets overrideScreenFlash 1, the same as ticking Alternate Screen Effects in Accessibility, which tones down screen flashes. It will not remove every uncomfortable effect, but it is the right first switch if flashes bother you.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console overrideScreenFlash 1

Measure

A one-off reading, not a benchmark. Compare in the same place.

Check your FPS right now

Prints your frame rate right now as a whole number. It is a single snapshot, not an average, so read it in the same spot before and after a change.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("FPS",math.floor(GetFramerate()+0.5))

Commands come from the original guide and were checked against the Forever client's settings code. No frame-rate gain is promised. If the game blocks /run, use the Settings menus instead.

Launch-day recheck

Re-test these on launch day before treating beta numbers as promises. Official means Blizzard named the change; client means tooltips or client data still need a live check.
