Bind a macro in a minute

  1. Type /macro while out of combat.
  2. Pick the tab with your paladin's name so the macro stays on this character.
  3. Click New, type the short name shown on the card, and pick the red question-mark icon: it lets #showtooltip show the real spell icon.
  4. Click Copy on the card, paste into the big box, and click Save.
  5. Drag the macro onto an action bar and bind that slot in Options > Keybindings.
  6. Test it out of combat with every modifier listed on the card.

Before you rely on a key. These macros are checked against Blizzard's Forever posts and the Forever client's own UI code, but none has been run in the game yet. Test each one out of combat first. Checked against build 1.60.1.70374 on Oct 15, 2026.

What Forever changed for paladins

From Blizzard's Forever Deep Dive Panel Recap and beta development notes through October 8, checked against Wowhead's Forever talent and trainer data.

Holy StrikeNew trained attack at 6. The beta notes later made its 10-second cooldown baseline and improved rank scaling; skip the removed Improved Holy Strike talent.
JudgementCasting it no longer consumes your active Seal. Change Seals when you want a different effect, rather than after every Judgement.
Seal of FuryThe tank Seal adds absorbs with a shield equipped and makes Judgement taunt; Righteous Fury now gives 60% extra Holy threat. The October 8 fix requires Improved Seal of Fury for its mana return, which no longer creates threat.
ConsecrationEvery paladin can train it at 20. Its first four targets receive extra damage and threat; the beta notes also fixed vertical pulls and missed bonus damage.
Blessing of KingsMoved out of the talent tree and into the class spellbook. Forever's trainer data puts the first rank at 20.
Voice of TruthNew Holy talent gives temporary immunity to Silence and Interrupt effects. It protects a casting window rather than stopping an enemy cast.
ReverenceThree ranks allow 30% mana regeneration while casting. Illumination requires Reverence 3/3 and at 5/5 refunds 50% of base spell cost after a qualifying critical heal.
Infusion of LightAt 2/2, Holy Shock and Flash of Light critical hits shorten your next Holy Light by one second within 15 seconds. Holy Power also now gives Holy Strike and Holy Shock up to 15% critical chance, versus 5% for other spells.
Holy ShockNow a 21-point Holy talent, reachable at level 30 without Legacy. This gives Holy an instant heal or damage spell before the 31-point capstone.
Light's VigilNew 31-point Holy talent: mark one target per party, then Holy Shock it for party healing or extra enemy damage without triggering its cooldown. Only the damage version refunds part of the Vigil mana cost.
Shield SpecializationWith Redoubt 5/5, three ranks increase shield block value by 30% and let blocks restore 6% maximum mana, at most once every three seconds. The October 8 notes remove threat from this mana return.
Swift JudgementNew 16-point Protection talent requires Improved Seal of Fury. It resets Judgement and makes the next one free, useful when a taunt attempt fails.
Templar's BulwarkNew 21-point Protection talent absorbs damage equal to your maximum health for eight seconds. It applies one minute of Forbearance and cannot be used while Forbearance is active.
Iron CreedNew five-rank talent increases Holy Strike threat by up to 25%. With Righteous Fury active, the strike also cuts damage taken by up to 10% for six seconds.
ReckoningNow also triggers from blocks, so avoiding enemy critical hits does not switch it off. The October 8 notes limit triggers to once every 1.5 seconds.
RedoubtThe October 1 notes lower its maximum block bonus to 20%, while Holy Shield rises to 30%. Holy Shield needs 31 Protection points, so even Talented's 26-point budget at level 30 cannot reach it.
Sacred ArbiterHoly Strike gains 20% damage and refreshes Judgement effects on the target. Vindication also changes from reducing attributes to reducing enemy Attack Power while raising your own.
Champion of the LightThree ranks now convert up to 60% of Intellect into spell damage. It does not increase healing; the October 1 notes correct the earlier tooltip.
Instrument of LawTwo ranks shorten Hammer of Wrath by one second and reduce all threat by 20% while Righteous Fury is off. The panel recap says Holy Wrath instead, so follow the talent tooltip and test the live behavior.
Twist of LightNew 31-point Retribution talent stores the replaced qualifying Seal as an Echo for your next melee attack. It also cuts Seal mana costs by 20%; it does not make both Seals permanent.

Blessings, auras and seals

Blessings, auras and seals each do a different job. Blizzard confirms that Judgement keeps your seal active; the client tree and Forever tooltips fill in details below, while blessing assignments are Classic Era habits to adapt with Dad Bods.

Start with three buttons

  1. Choose one role blessing, one aura, and one seal before the first pull.
  2. Train new ranks; the list adds Might at 4, Wisdom at 14, Kings at 20, and Salvation at 26.
  3. Keep Judgement separate from the seal button so you choose when to spend mana or taunt.
  4. Check aura range and party placement; resistance auras are listed as raid-wide but still have a radius.
  5. With other paladins, split blessings, auras, and lasting Judgements before combat.
  6. Read the current tooltip after a patch; a retained Era spell page does not prove a removed talent is learnable.

Quick reference

  • BlessingOne per paladin on each player; give the active tank no Salvation.
  • AuraOne active per paladin; match the danger and check range.
  • SealOne active; Judgement keeps it in Forever.
  • JudgementDamage or a lasting debuff depends on the seal; Fury taunts.
  • Purify / CleansePoison and disease at 8; magic added at 42 in Forever's client data.
  • Wipe recoverySymbol of Divinity + Divine Intervention, then out-of-combat resurrection.

Make each buff count

  • One of each, with room for friendsYou have one active seal and one active aura. Each player gets one blessing per paladin; different paladins can provide different blessings and auras, but duplicate effects do not add. One paladin normally maintains one lasting Judgement debuff; split Light, Wisdom, and Crusader between paladins. These limits follow Era rules and current tooltip wording; unusual beta stacking needs testing.
  • Might for melee, Wisdom for manaUse Might for warrior and rogue damage, Retribution, cat druids, and Enhancement shamans. Use Wisdom for priests, mages, warlocks, Holy, Restoration or Elemental shamans, Balance or healing druids, and hunters. The current Might description gives melee attack power, so it does not buff hunter ranged attack power.
  • Kings, Salvation, and tank exceptionsKings helps all classes and suits tanks; the list trains it at 20. Salvation lowers damage dealers' threat, never the active tank's. With enough paladins, add Light to tanks receiving Holy Light or Flash of Light; bear tanks often want Kings and paladin tanks may choose Wisdom.
  • Short blessings replace your assignmentFreedom answers movement restrictions, Protection physical danger, and Sacrifice transfers some damage to you. Restore your normal blessing afterward and account for Forbearance on immunity spells. Might, Wisdom, and Kings are listed as one hour in Forever; skip the old five-minute buff treadmill. Greater Blessings buff the selected class across the group or raid and use a Symbol of Kings; give single-target exceptions to mixed-role classes afterward.
  • Devotion and RetributionDevotion adds armor for physical hits. Retribution returns Holy damage when party members are struck; use it when that beats armor or caster protection. October 8 notes fixed its spell-power owner, restored Vanilla base damage, and reduced its spell-power ratio to 6%; early-beta damage estimates are stale.
  • Concentration and resistanceConcentration reduces damage-induced cast pushback; it does not grant blanket interrupt immunity. The list gives Shadow Resistance at 28, Frost Resistance at 32, and Fire Resistance at 36. Match the school and stay in range; Forever tooltips extend resistance auras to the raid. No Nature Resistance Aura is listed.
  • Righteousness and CommandRighteousness adds Holy damage to melee hits and judges for direct Holy damage. Talented Command adds weapon-based Holy procs and a damage Judgement, with a bonus against stunned or incapacitated targets in Forever's tree. A strong slow two-hander suits Retribution; compare real upgrades rather than speed alone.
  • Fury belongs to the tankFury adds Holy damage and, with a shield, small absorbs; its Judgement taunts. Fast one-handers suit its design. Improved Seal of Fury and Shield Specialization support mana, but October 8 notes remove threat from their mana restoration; do not count on passive mana to hold the pack.
  • Crusader and JusticeCrusader trades weapon damage for faster swings and attack power; its lasting Judgement increases Holy damage taken. Justice can stun on melee hits; its Judgement prevents eligible enemies fleeing, rather than acting as a general movement slow. Coordinate lasting debuffs with the other paladins.
  • Light and WisdomLight can heal you through melee hits; its Judgement can heal attackers. Wisdom can restore your mana through melee hits; its Judgement can return mana to attackers or spell users. Supplied levels are 30 and 38; Holy should not abandon safe healing range to fish for mana.
  • Keep the seal after judgingJudgement no longer consumes your seal. Sacred Arbiter in Forever's tree makes Holy Strike refresh all Judgement effects on the target. Twist of Light stores an echo of a replaced Command, Righteousness, Fury, or Justice seal for the next melee hit; that is not two permanent seals.
  • Check the actual Forever treeThe trees have neither Sanctity Aura nor Blessing of Sanctuary as learnable talents. Old spell pages still exist; do not promise either buff from an Era build. Use the current names Swift Judgement and Instrument of Law when discussing the new talents.
  • Undead, with a warm glowOnly Undead can be Horde paladins in Blizzard's table. Exorcism targets Undead or Demons; Turn Undead fears an eligible undead enemy. Being Forsaken does not prove special self-damage or PvP targeting rules. Player characters were Humanoids in Era; verify Forever duel behavior before claiming either spell works on Forsaken players.
  • Use your Forsaken toolsWill of the Forsaken removes Charm, Fear, and Sleep. Cannibalize recovers 35% health and mana over time from corpses. Underwater Breathing gives 300% longer breathing; Touch of the Grave sometimes drains health through attacks. Blizzard does not list the old passive Shadow Resistance; do not budget it into your resistance set.

Talents and Legacy

Splits read Holy / Protection / Retribution. You earn 21 points from levels 10 through 30 and 51 by 60 without Talented. These are legal plans from Wowhead's October 14 client tree, not measured rankings; all level-60 plans are untested. Exact tree source: Wowhead.

Legacy picks for a paladin

Legacy is account progression spent separately on each character. It normally opens when an account character reaches 25; Blizzard also lists profession and exploration routes. Launch spending is capped at 16 points per character, which you must earn.

  1. Well RestedFaster rested XP suits short evenings. The client calculator requires 5/5 before Talented.5 points
  2. TalentedThe client ranks start talent points up to five levels earlier. At 5/5, that means 26 points at 30, with a ceiling of 51 total.5 points
  3. Thrill of AdventureThe client ranks restore health and mana after your qualifying outdoor killing blows. It does not work in dungeons, raids, or battlegrounds.5 points
  4. Field MedicineOne client rank shortens Recently Bandaged outside instances. A bandage between pulls saves mana for the next mistake.1 point
  5. The Quick and the DeadAn alternative for group nights: faster corpse runs and free helpful spells after resurrection until combat.2 points
  6. Reagent EconomyA later alternative for vendor reagents such as Symbols of Kings. Client prerequisites include 10 Resourcefulness points and The Quick and the Dead 2/2.1 point after prerequisites

The first four picks spend all 16 points. The last two are alternatives, not extra purchases. Perk effects are described by Blizzard; ranks, costs, and prerequisites are client data from foreverdb.net. Talented adds no level-60 points.

From Wowhead's Forever paladin ability list, fetched 2026-10-15, Horde spells only. Talent abilities gain later ranks from the trainer. Judgement of Fury is what judging Seal of Fury does, not a separate purchase. Redemption comes from the class quest A Lesson in Divinity at 12; later ranks come from the trainer. Horde paladins are new in Forever, so check your trainer's list.

Gear and consumables

One paladin, three bag problems. Keep a healing set and a shield even when you level with a two-hander. These picks are for Horde paladins; Blizzard currently lists Undead as the Horde option. Gaming after bedtime means picking useful upgrades, not farming every slot twice.

What stats matter, and when

StageWhat to stackWhy
Leveling 1 to 30Weapon DPS, Strength and spell power; enough Stamina and Intellect for another pullA slow two-hander supports melee damage. Keep water handy. Forever adds Holy Strike and leaves your Seal active after Judgement.
Dungeon healing to 30Bonus healing, Intellect and mana per 5; Spirit with ReverenceBigger heals and a usable mana pool beat matching armor. Cloth is fine for healing. Reverence lets Spirit regeneration continue while casting.
Holy at 60Bonus healing, Intellect and crit; mana per 5 or Spirit when mana runs shortUse the era score as a starting point. Forever changes healing gear and adds party healing through Light's Vigil; fight length and talents change what you need.
Protection at 60Stamina, Defense skill and armor; block, Intellect and spell power for sustained threatWear a shield. Fast weapons suit Seal of Fury. Shield Specialization and Improved Seal of Fury help return mana. The era 440 Defense reference concerns ordinary level-63 melee crits, not crushing blows; confirm Forever mechanics.
Retribution at 60Weapon DPS, enough hit, Strength and crit; compare spell power and IntellectThe era melee score favors a slow two-hander. Champion of the Light adds spell damage from Intellect, so hybrid gear deserves a look. Forever hit caps and final weights need testing.

Gear to aim for by 30

Every equip requirement here is 30 or lower. Dungeon bosses and quest chains can still be harder than that number suggests. New crafted mail binds on pickup. Healing gear can be cloth. Use either Two-Hand or Main Hand plus Off Hand; librams occupy the planner's Ranged slot. Only one usable beta libram is verified, so that slot has one honest choice.

Best weapon at every level

Retribution wants a strong two-hander, Protection a usable one-hander and shield, and Holy healing stats on a separate set. These are practical upgrade targets from Forever listings and marked Classic Era fallbacks, not a proven best-in-slot ranking for every new dungeon.

LevelBest weaponHow to get itNotes
1 to 7Ret: starting mace, then best affordable two-hander; Holy/Prot: starting one-hander and shieldStarter quests and weapon vendorsKeep upgrades cheap. Holy uses the best Intellect weapon or shield available; no universal named best is verified.
8 to 12Ret: Axe of Orgrimmar when obtainable; Holy/Prot: current one-hander + Salvaged Wooden Tower ShieldHidden Enemies group chain; Making Repairs at Bandarion KeepThe shield is a new Undead paladin reward. Do Ragefire at party level, not the minimum quest level; a shield alone is no healing upgrade.
13 to 19Ret: Forsaken Greataxe or Hammerbone; Prot: Wingblade + current shield; Holy: Scepter of the Abandoned at 17 + current shieldThe Wrath of Rath'mael; Leaders of the Fang; The Abandoned in Ruins of LordaeronForever quest candidates. Choose Hammerbone or Wingblade once; the quest cannot supply both. Compare healing stats rather than melee DPS for Holy.
20 to 25Ret: Moonsilver Blade, then Wolfsbane; Prot: Wingblade + Commander's Crest; Holy: Blade of Silverlaine at 21 + current shieldHorde paladin story through Trevan Rol and Lumina Windsinger; Shadowfang Keep; Baron Silverlaine for the Holy swordThe swords are new Horde class rewards. Commander's Crest is an Era shield target. Bring help for the chain and train two-handed swords.
26 to 30Ret: Wolfsbane or Corpsemaker at 29; Holy: Blade of Silverlaine + current shield; Prot: Wingblade + Heart of Agamaggan at 27Keep class sword; Overlord Ramtusk and Agathelos in Razorfen KraulWolfsbane is client-listed; Kraul choices use Era requirements until checked. Do not put a melee axe in your Holy set just for its DPS.
31 to 36Ret: Wolfsbane or Corpsemaker; Holy: Blade of Silverlaine + Basalt Buckler when earned; Prot: Sword of Omen + current shieldEarlier rewards; Into the Scarlet Monastery when the group can finish; The Corrupter in Desolace for the shieldThe Era quest begins at 33, but Cathedral completion comes later. No Horde Verigan's Fist or warrior Whirlwind Axe shortcut.
37 to 44Ret: Ravager at 37 or stronger current two-hander; Holy: Hand of Righteousness + Basalt Buckler; Prot: Sword of Omen or Vanquisher's Sword + Aegis of the Scarlet CommanderHerod; Whitemane; The Corrupter in Desolace; Bring the End; MograineRavager is a cleave option; keep the stronger single-target weapon. Other targets use Era data. The Corrupter final elites need a group.
45 to 50Ret: The Rockpounder or stronger current two-hander; Holy: Hand of Righteousness + Gizlock's Hypertech Buckler; Prot: Thrash Blade + Gizlock's Hypertech BucklerUldaman; Scarlet Cathedral; Maraudon quest and Tinkerer GizlockEra fallbacks above the beta cap. The buckler has mana stats for Holy and solid armor for Protection; compare discovered alternatives.
51 to 57Ret: Dreadforge Retaliator at 54; Holy: The Hammer of Grace + Gizlock's Hypertech Buckler; Prot: Thrash Blade + Crest of SupremacyBlackrock Depths; Maraudon; Shade of Eranikus in Sunken TempleEra targets. Protection may keep the buckler until a defensive shield clearly wins; a fast usable one-hander fits Forever Seal of Fury.
58 to 60Ret: Arcanite Reaper; Holy: The Hammer of Grace + Gizlock's Hypertech Buckler; Prot: Mirah's Song + Draconian DeflectorBlacksmithing or auction house; BRD; Maraudon; Scholomance quest; Drakkisath in UBRSEra pre-raid candidates, with no Forever endgame ranking proven. Keep an affordable dungeon weapon if the Reaper costs the family grocery budget.

Read equip requirements, train the weapon type, and raise its skill before the run; paladins cannot equip staves, daggers, or wands, and picks above 30 remain untested in Forever.

Pre-raid targets at 60

These are three practical era pre-raid shopping lists whose items have Forever database records, not measured Forever best-in-slot sets. Database presence does not prove launch availability. Beta stops at 30. Recheck sources and tooltips after the November 4 launch and before the December 9 raids. Holy can wear cloth; Protection should favor armor and a shield. Retribution's spare one-hander is a bag option, not a dual-wield set. Scores use published Pawn Classic Era scales, originally TBC-derived, rather than measured Forever values. The Ret deck trinket needs an active Darkmoon Faire. Until then, use a useful trinket already in your bags. Defaults skip items whose Forever tooltip could not be found.

Keep a protection potion for a known damage type.Keep useful beta elixirs rather than replacing them just because a new recipe exists.Mageweave bandages and mana oil or wizard oil as usable. Check the next profession training requirement before traveling.
46 to 60Morning Glory Dew and the best mage water; era refill plan.Compare current Strength food for Ret, Stamina food for Prot and healing food for Holy. Era recipes may have different Forever buffs.Major Healing from 45 and Major Mana from 49; verify the live tooltip. Bring the protection potion your raid lead requests.Compare Greater Cleric's or Greater Mageblood for Holy; Mongoose for Ret; defense or health elixirs for Prot. Availability and stacking need a launch check.Runecloth bandages, healthstones, repairs and spell reagents unless your Legacy perks remove them. Bring a shield for tank duty.

Healing potions moved to the secondary First Aid profession; Alchemy still makes mana potions and elixirs. Do not import old food buffs: Smoked Sagefish and Nightfin Soup give spell damage in Forever rather than era mana regeneration. Potions, oils and food above 30 are plans until the live tooltip and recipe source agree. Ask before using a temporary weapon oil with a shaman weapon buff.

Paladin in groups

Paladin in groups: agree on a role, keep your blessing and aura useful, and rescue the person who needs it. These are Classic Era group habits adapted to Forever spell levels; Cleanse and several late tools are beyond the level-30 beta.

Set up your screen

  1. Use readable party or raid frames with health, mana, range, and incoming-heal information where supported.
  2. Show poison and disease on friendly frames for Purify at 8; show removable magic too when Cleanse arrives at 42 in the client list.
  3. Bind friendly mouseover heals, Purify or Cleanse, Blessing of Protection, and Blessing of Freedom beside those frames; practice with a friend.
  4. Show enemy nameplates, cast bars, raid marks, and Target of Target so you can spot a loose enemy or dangerous cast.
  5. Keep your seal, Righteous Fury state, aura, blessing duration, and Forbearance visible; tanks also watch Judgement and talented Swift Judgement.
  6. Give Redemption and Divine Intervention distinct keys; carry Symbols of Divinity from 30 and keep the healer's mana easy to see.

Raid marks

  • SkullKill first after the tank gathers; Protection owns it if assigned.
  • CrossNext kill or second tank target; agree before pulling.
  • MoonCrowd control: keep Consecration, melee, and Judgement off it.
  • SquareTrap or another player's control; leave it alone unless called.
  • StarAssigned stun or Turn Undead target if agreed; marks are guild shorthand.

Habits that keep the group alive

  • Say your job firstTell the group whether you are Holy, Protection, or Retribution, and bring gear for that role. Helping heal is useful; silently becoming the tank is a family meeting.
  • Assign blessings by roleUse Might for melee warriors, rogues, Retribution, feral cats, and Enhancement; Wisdom for healers, mages, warlocks, Balance, Elemental, and hunters. Give tanks Kings, and damage dealers Salvation when threat matters; split coverage with other paladins.
  • Pick the aura for this pullUse Devotion for physical pressure, Concentration for healer cast pushback, or the matching fire, frost, or shadow resistance aura when trained. Split different auras between paladins and check range.
  • Own your cleansing framesAgree which players you cover. Purify removes poison and disease; Cleanse later adds magic. Paladins cannot remove curses or strip enemy magic buffs; ask the right teammate.
  • Stun the dangerous casterHammer of Justice stops a stunnable caster. Call it as a stun, not a reliable interrupt against immune bosses; Blizzard says paladins still lack an interrupt.
  • Protect the clothieBlessing of Protection buys a mage, priest, or warlock time against physical attackers. It does not stop magic and blocks physical attacks while active; tell the tank and restore your normal blessing afterward.
  • Keep threat in the right placeProtection uses Righteous Fury and judges Seal of Fury for a taunt. Holy and Retribution leave Righteous Fury off; do not judge Fury for damage while another player tanks.
  • Keep control clearPlace Consecration away from sheep, traps, and sleeping enemies. Turn Undead needs a safe fleeing path; a scared skeleton can invite the neighbors.
  • Choose the right rescueLay on Hands can save someone but empties your remaining mana. Watch Forbearance before planning immunities, and warn before a tank immunity makes enemies turn on someone else.
  • Let the healer drinkCall low mana early and stop at safe breaks. Undead Cannibalize restores health and mana when a suitable corpse and safe pause are available.
  • Plan the wipe recoveryAt 30, Divine Intervention sacrifices you and consumes a Symbol of Divinity. Use it on an agreed resurrector in a safe location after a wipe call; the protected player cannot act until it ends or is canceled.
  • Get everybody back upRedemption works out of combat. Raise another resurrector first, then others; drink and restore blessings before the next pull.

Which ability when

Pick the problem first, then the spell that solves it. Levels below use the Forever client spellbook, and talent spells only apply when your build buys them.

SituationAt 30At 60Why
One enemy while questingKeep Seal of Righteousness active, or Seal of Command if talented; use Holy Strike and the Judgement effect you want.Keep the same core and add Hammer of Wrath for a low-health target; use Twist of Light only if you have the talent.Regular swings and useful strikes keep kills moving without spending mana on every possible button.
Several enemies already fighting youUse Consecration when you can hold the pack and afford it. Keep controlled enemies outside the ground effect.A Protection build can add Holy Shield; against Undead or Demons, Holy Wrath is another option if you can safely finish its cast. The first four Consecration targets receive its extra damage; bigger pulls do not multiply that bonus forever.
An enemy caster starts something dangerousUse Hammer of Justice if the enemy can be stunned, or move behind cover to bring it closer. Ask a teammate for a true interrupt.Keep the same plan. Repentance can buy time against a humanoid if talented and free of damage.Paladins still lack a true interrupt, and bosses often ignore stuns.
A low-health enemy runs toward friendsJudge Seal of Justice to prevent fleeing, or stun with Hammer of Justice. Do not assume this is a reliable movement slow against players.Use the same control or finish with Hammer of Wrath when its health requirement is met.Stopping one runner is cheaper than discovering the next pack together.
Your health drops suddenlyUse Holy Shock if talented, or create time with Hammer of Justice before Holy Light. Use Lay on Hands if a cast will be too late; a tank can use talented Templar's Bulwark.Divine Shield is available, but a tank must plan for enemies changing targets. Check Forbearance before choosing a defensive.Absorbs, immunity, and healing solve different problems; the button must leave the rest of the group alive too.
Mana is running lowPause optional damage, call a drink, and use Cannibalize safely after the fight. A shield tank can benefit from the block and Fury mana talents it actually has.Seal of Wisdom becomes available from 38; choose its personal or Judgement effect when safe, while keeping your taunt plan ready if tanking.A mana return that depends on swings or blocks does little when the fight offers neither.
You are starting a dungeon pullAs tank, put on Righteous Fury, equip a shield, and prepare Seal of Fury. Use terrain to gather casters, then place Consecration away from crowd control.Add Holy Shield if talented, and save Holy Strike for the Iron Creed window when that talent is part of your build.Preparing the pull keeps enemies in reach and leaves a recovery tool for the first mistake.
An enemy leaves you for the healerActivate Seal of Fury if needed and judge the loose enemy. Use Swift Judgement if talented and the first attempt fails; follow with damage.Keep the same recovery and use Holy Shield or Consecration for ongoing pack threat when appropriate. The Fury Judgement is the taunt; ordinary Judgements do not all force an enemy back.
A party member is in troubleHeal first if they may die. Otherwise use Purify for poison or disease, Freedom for movement restrictions, or Protection for physical danger.Cleanse adds friendly magic removal. A Holy build can prepare Light's Vigil and trigger it with Holy Shock when party damage justifies the mana.Removing the cause can save more health than another heal, but nobody benefits from a dispel that arrives after death.
A player ambushes you near an objectiveStun if possible, heal or Freedom the teammate under pressure, and move toward help. Use Will of the Forsaken for charm, fear, or sleep.Add Cleanse and your trained defensives, checking flag restrictions. Repentance can park a humanoid if talented and nobody damages it.Staying with the team and keeping its next action possible can matter more than winning a solo damage race.

Raid night checklist

Tick things off as you pack. Ticks stay in this browser; clear them before the next raid night.

Raids in Forever

  • Raids open December 9, 2026: Onyxia's Lair for 40, Barrow Deeps for 10, and Hyjal Summit for 20. Launch is November 4; no raid opens on launch day.
  • Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit boss names come from beta data. Kill order, paladin duties, and resistance needs remain unknown; their raid tags confirm the announced raids, not tactics.
  • Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Zul'Gurub, both Ahn'Qiraj raids, and Naxxramas have no confirmed Forever dates here. Their c tags mark Classic Era planning.
  • The level-30 beta cannot prove level-60 raid balance. Protection now taunts through Seal of Fury and Judgement; boss immunities and tank assignments still need testing.
  • Assign blessings and auras before the raid. Forever resistance auras are listed as raid-wide but still have range; check stacking with shaman totems and priest buffs.
  • Cleanse removes poison, disease, and friendly magic at 42 in the list. Paladins cannot remove curses or purge enemy buffs; leave dangerous encounter debuffs alone when told.
  • December raid attunements remain unverified. Keep the Era Horde Onyxia chain as a possible plan, not a confirmed requirement.
  • Consumable and resistance suggestions use Classic Era names and jobs unless stated otherwise. Check current Forever tooltips, profession sources, and shared cooldowns before buying.
  • World-buff raid rules and high-level consumable tuning need confirmation. Do not spend a family evening farming a buff on an assumption.
  • Shared order numbers mean one fight or rotating slot. Optional bosses stay optional; order zero on new names does not imply kill order.
  • Quantities are a suggested night's reserve, not mandatory spending. Carry Symbols of Divinity for Intervention and Symbols of Kings for learned Greater Blessings.

Before the raid: assignments

  1. Assign role and backup: Holy tank or group healing, Protection target and swap order, or Retribution damage with utility cover.
  2. Split blessings by class and role; give druids, shamans, and paladins individual exceptions. Keep Salvation off tanks, split auras, and assign Light, Wisdom, or Crusader Judgements.
  3. Assign Cleanse groups and dangerous debuffs to leave alone. Agree who calls Divine Intervention, which resurrector receives it, and the emergency Protection or Lay on Hands order.

Before every pull

  1. Mana above the agreed floor; drink before the pull and call if you need time.
  2. Assigned blessings on everyone, including arrivals and revived players; tanks have no Salvation.
  3. Correct aura active and in range. Resistance coverage may be raid-wide; check party placement for other auras.
  4. Protection: shield equipped, Righteous Fury active, Fury ready, and taunt plan agreed. Holy and Retribution: Righteous Fury off.
  5. Healing target, Cleanse groups, Judgement, and cooldown backup clear; no automatic Fury Judgement on someone else's boss.
  6. In range with line of sight and an exit path; call low mana, deaths, resisted taunts, and cooldown use early.

Paladin jobs by raid size

RaidPaladinsWho does what
10 players: Barrow Deeps1 to 2 paladins, suggestedOne covers tank healing or the agreed tank role; a second can fill another role. Split blessings and auras, assign Cleanse, and choose a resurrector for wipe recovery. Encounter details remain unknown.
20 players: Hyjal Summit, Zul'Gurub, AQ202 to 3 paladins, suggestedAssign roles, then blessing and aura coverage. Holy covers named tanks or parties, Protection owns explicit targets, and Retribution maintains its Judgement and helps Cleanse. New-raid tank allocations are untested.
40 players: Onyxia, Molten Core and later3 to 5 paladins, suggestedCover Kings, role buffs, and Salvation without giving tanks Salvation. Split Holy healing and Cleanse groups; spread auras and give Protection explicit jobs. Retribution keeps assigned Judgements; every paladin keeps rescue tools ready.

These are guild planning ranges, not required class counts or tested Forever compositions. Build around available healers, tanks, and damage; level-60 talents, Cleanse, Greater Blessings, and the new raids are beyond the beta cap of 30.

Reputations

Start with reputations that help your role or a profession you actually use. Forever tags confirm the faction or announced feature, unverified marks client listings with access still to check, and era marks Classic Era rewards or routes that are not a launch promise.

FactionWhat you getHow to earn itWhen
UndercityYour home story faction; Tyr's Watch class quests grant reputation. No special reputation gate for Redemption or the Forsaken Charger is confirmed.Quest through Tirisfal and Bandarion Keep and follow the new Horde paladin story. From the starting zone; do not grind Exalted for an unannounced class gate.
Durotar Supply and Logistics UnverifiedCheck Veteran's Silvered Chain and Protector's Silvered Chain blacksmithing plans for melee and tank leveling gear. Holy should compare healing recipes; Merchant's Favor is currency, not reputation.Fill Waylaid Crates and deliver at the Horde hub west of the Crossroads. Confirm standing, skill, binding, and Favor cost before buying plans.During leveling if you craft; reward gates remain unverified.
Darkspear RaidersThe new battleground faction has several level versions of rewards. Argent Dawn Era dataHoly can investigate the healing bracer enchant; all roles may want resistance shoulder enchants. Era Naxxramas costs fall with standing, but no Forever opening or unchanged discount is confirmed.Plaguelands quests, Stratholme and Scholomance, then Scourgestones with Argent Dawn Commission in Era; verify Forever rates.Around 50 to 60 alongside dungeon gear, not a December prerequisite.

Paladin tips

A few habits for keeping the party upright after bedtime. Spell levels and talent numbers use the Forever's client data; older habits that still need a beta check carry an era tag in the text. Blizzard sources cover the changes and Horde racials; the ability reference is Wowhead.

Leveling

  • Keep a Seal running. Seal of Righteousness is a simple starting point. Add Holy Strike from 6 and Judgement from 4; Forever no longer eats your Seal when you judge.
  • Buy real upgrades. Train the damage and healing ranks you use. Very old ranks are not a free efficiency trick in Forever.
  • Take manageable pulls. Use Consecration from 20 when several enemies are already yours. Its extra damage favors four targets, so start small.

Mana

  • Leave a healing reserve. Do not spend the last of your mana chasing one more damage cast. Auto-attacks keep working while you save enough to heal.
  • Use the tank mana talents. Shield Specialization needs a shield and blocks. Improved Seal of Fury needs its absorb to be fully used; Forever's tooltip shows an unresolved zero mana value, so measure the return yourself.
  • Call the drink. Tell the group before sitting. Cannibalize can refill health and mana from a suitable corpse between fights.
  • Let Spirit breathe. After spending mana, the five-second rule limits Spirit recovery; Reverence keeps part of that regeneration running during casts. Treat the exact untalented timing as era until checked in Forever.

Seals, Judgements, and auras

  • Choose the Judgement effect. Your active Seal decides what Judgement does. Seal of Fury makes it a taunt; do not use it casually when another player is tanking.
  • Refresh on purpose. Judgement leaves the Seal active, but Seals still have durations. Watch the buff rather than blindly resealing every time.
  • Keep one aura active. Devotion Aura helps against physical hits; Concentration Aura helps with casting pushback. Change for the pull and the group, not just your damage meter.
  • Twist only with the talent. Twist of Light needs 31 Retribution points. Its Echo applies the replaced Seal on the next melee attack; level-30 builds here cannot use it.

Dungeons

  • Bring a shield to tank. Redoubt and Shield Specialization need blocks. Face enemies so you can use the shield and keep the pack away from your healer.
  • Keep the tank buff on. Use Righteous Fury while tanking and remove it for damage or healing. Improved Righteous Fury adds damage reduction while the buff is active.
  • Have a caster plan. Hammer of Justice can stop a stunnable caster, but it is not a true interrupt. Ask another class to cover casts that a stun cannot stop.
  • Keep control clean. Do not put Consecration under a controlled enemy. Damage wakes Repentance, and a rescued pull is worth more than one extra tick.

Healing and rescues

  • Match the missing health. Flash of Light from 20 covers smaller gaps; Holy Light handles larger ones when you can finish the cast. Holy Shock needs the Holy talent.
  • Use the right dispel. Purify is available at 8 for poison and disease. Cleanse arrives at 42 for poison, disease, and magic; do not promise a magic dispel at the beta cap.
  • Check Forbearance. Templar's Bulwark, Divine Protection, and Divine Shield interact with this lockout. The level-30 tank plan has Bulwark, but Divine Shield is not trained until 34.
  • Spend Lay on Hands to save a life. It is an emergency heal that drains your remaining mana. Tell the group before the next pull, because the blue bar has left the building.

Group habits

  • Agree on blessings. Assign Kings, Might, Wisdom, and Salvation with the other paladins. Never put Salvation on the person trying to hold threat.
  • Warn before Protection. Blessing of Protection stops physical damage and also stops the target using physical attacks. It can save a healer, but warn a melee teammate and reapply their usual blessing afterward.
  • Keep Redemption ready. The trainer export places it at 12; the Forever guide ties it to the Undead A Lesson in Divinity chain. Check your class quest rather than assuming it appears automatically.
  • Plan wipe recovery. Divine Intervention arrives at 30 and sacrifices you to protect an ally. Agree on a safe resurrection target and carry its reagent.

Forever changes to remember

  • Use the current Holy Strike. Its cooldown reduction became baseline after the panel preview. Improved Holy Strike is absent from Forever's tree.
  • Check the spell name. Instrument of Law in the current talent data shortens Hammer of Wrath. The older panel recap mentions Holy Wrath; do not build around that older wording.
  • Treat high-level plans as plans. The beta cap is 30. Light's Vigil, Holy Shield, and Twist of Light each need 31 points in their own tree, so these 21-point builds cannot test them.
  • Test threat without old bugs. Mana returns from Improved Seal of Fury and Shield Specialization no longer generate threat. Build attention with attacks and your tank tools.

Horde choices

  • Undead is the Horde choice. Blizzard's table permits only Undead paladins on Horde. Orc, Tauren, Troll, and Skyborne do not have the paladin mark.
  • Use both active racials. Will of the Forsaken removes charm, fear, and sleep, with no follow-up immunity in Forever. Cannibalize consumes a corpse to restore 35% health and mana over time; find a safe moment.
  • Know the two passives. Touch of the Grave sometimes drains health through attacks, helping damage and survival; Blizzard gives no proc rate in the race article. Underwater Breathing gives 300% longer breath, useful on underwater quests rather than as a damage bonus.

Addons and UI

Start with Blizzard's own tools, then add only what helps you see health, debuffs to cleanse and your blessings. Readable bars beat a cockpit.

  • Default raid-style party frames Works in Forever

Edit Mode lets you use compact raid-style party frames and move them where you can read them. Put health bars and debuffs near your character, then use this guide's mouseover keys to heal without changing targets.

Forever UI source includes the Edit Mode setting, checked Oct 14, 2026

  • Default Cooldown Manager Works in Forever

Blizzard's tracker supports class abilities, racials, and trinkets, with consumable support still due in a later patch. Keep Fear Ward and your talented cooldowns in view before shopping for more trackers.

  • Default nameplates Works in Forever

Blizzard's nameplates put enemy health and cast bars above the mobs. Keep enemy plates visible so you can spot a loose mob while your mouse stays near the party frames.

  • Default Damage Meter Works in Forever

The built-in meter shows healing, damage, dispels, and deaths, and you can position it in Edit Mode. Review healing and deaths after the pull; a bigger number is less useful than a living tank.

Professions for paladins

Choose the pair you will use after bedtime. Mining and Blacksmithing makes personal mail upgrades. Herbalism and Alchemy supplies mana potions and elixirs. Mining and Engineering buys utility. First Aid and Cooking are secondary, so learn them alongside any pair.

Which pair to pick

ProfessionsWhyBest for
Mining and BlacksmithingNew BoP Crusader mail combines Strength, Stamina and spell power; Protector pieces favor survival. Mining covers bars and stone, but pearls, leather, essences and recipe hunting still cost time. Holy may get more healing from cloth drops.Ret leveling and Prot with a healing set in the bags
Herbalism and AlchemySupply mana potions and role elixirs, or sell herbs. Healing potions now belong to First Aid, so Alchemy is not required for them. Gathering and rare BoP recipes take time.Holy sustain and guild consumable nights
Mining and EngineeringGrenades, utility trinkets and repair gadgets add control and convenience. Many need Engineering to use. Parts eat bag space and gold; a gadget does not replace the shield or the healer.Prot utility, PvP and dads who label their cables

Tips

  • Buy BoP plans on the character who will learn them. New self-crafted gear cannot be ordered from a guildmate.
  • Beneris and the other Horde supply-camp vendors are near the Crossroads. Supply crates earn Merchant's Favor. Alliance vendor routes are not your shopping route.
  • Tenets of the Silver Hand requires your own Enchanting craft. It is optional utility, not a reason every paladin must drop a chosen profession.
  • Learn First Aid for healing potions and remedies. Alchemy remains useful for mana potions and elixirs.
  • Camp effects can overlap class buffs. Check what the party already has before filling a camp slot.
  • Upgrade the weapon you actually use. Save gold for training, water and repair bills before buying a recipe for the collection.

Best enchants for a paladin

Enchant the piece you will keep. Cheap early bonuses help more than an empty purse. Forever adds necklace enchants and changes several familiar effects; buy the current service, not a remembered era name.

One permanent enchant or attachment per item. Iron Counterweight replaces a two-hander's permanent weapon enchant. Temporary oils are a separate layer; confirm interaction with shaman weapon buffs. Raid and reputation formula records are not proof of day-one access. Avoid importing unverified Season of Discovery enchants or enchanter-only ring perks. Head and leg arcanums are era quest options, not ordinary Enchanting services. Spell damage from a healing enchant is damage only; do not count it as healing twice. The shield Stamina spell and formula disagree. Use the effect shown by the enchanter in game.

Troubleshooting

My blessing landed on the wrong person
A living friendly mouseover wins over your selected ally; move off the frames or hold Alt to choose yourself.
Judgement does nothing
Apply a seal first and select a living enemy in range; on seal cards, plain press applies the seal and Ctrl casts Judgement.
My heal went to the enemy
Check that you copied the friendly heal card, not the Holy Shock damage card; the heal keys only match help units or yourself.
I bubbled and still died
Check whether you used Blessing of Protection against spell damage, whether Forbearance blocked Divine Shield or Divine Protection, or whether Ctrl canceled your immunity.
My taunt did not bring it back
Judgement needs Seal of Fury active to taunt; check range, target, and whether it missed, then use Swift Judgement if talented and judge again.
Shift does nothing
Train the lower rank exactly as named, copy its spelling from your spellbook, and check whether Shift plus that key is bound elsewhere.
My aura keeps disappearing
Repeated plain presses may toggle it off, and Ctrl deliberately removes Devotion on its starter card; no card assumes an aura stance number.
The macro will not save or mouseover fails
Keep the full body within 255 characters including line breaks, use plain ASCII, and test on default unit frames with addons disabled.

Graphics and console settings

36 commands

A steady frame rate helps you land a rescue heal and catch a loose enemy, while readable ground effects keep your Consecration from hiding the fire you need to leave. Start at native resolution and 100% render scale, with Low or Fair shadows, Medium particles and Projected Textures on. Cap your frame rate at what your PC can hold, and 30 in the background. Write down every value before you change it so you can put it back.

The Forever look

The September tip from Icy Veins that went around the community: render scale 98%, contrast 60, brightness 40 (some players prefer 45). The same sliders are in Settings > Graphics (Render Scale under Resolution; Contrast, Brightness and Gamma further down). It depends on your monitor, so try it in a foggy zone and keep what looks right.

Write down your current look first

Prints render scale, contrast, brightness and gamma so you can put them back.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"RenderScale","Contrast","Brightness","Gamma"}) do print(n,C_CVar.GetCVar(n)) end

The Forever look: 98% scale, contrast 60, brightness 40

Icy Veins says 98% render scale cleans up the image and can save a few frames, and contrast 60 with brightness 40 makes the new fog stand out. One player post uses brightness 45. It depends on your monitor.

3 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console RenderScale 0.98
/console Contrast 60
/console Brightness 40

Undo: back to the game's defaults

Resets render scale, contrast and brightness to the client defaults. If you wrote down different values, type those instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"RenderScale","Contrast","Brightness"}) do local d=C_CVar.GetCVarDefault(n); if d then C_CVar.SetCVar(n,d) end end

Record first

Screenshot Settings > Graphics (Base, Raid and Advanced) before you touch anything. These read-only lines print your current values to chat.

Read your current foreground cap

Prints your current maxFPS cap to chat and changes nothing. The on/off switch for the cap (useMaxFPS) is a separate setting, so this alone does not tell you whether the cap is on.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("maxFPS", C_CVar.GetCVar("maxFPS"))

Read the game's default cap

Prints what the game thinks the default maxFPS is, and changes nothing. That is the game's default, not the value you had before, so write your own down too.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("maxFPS default", C_CVar.GetCVarDefault("maxFPS"))

Record cap switches, VSync and render scale

Prints six settings in one go: both FPS caps and their on/off switches, VSync and render scale. Write the results down before you change anything so you can put them back.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,n in ipairs({"useMaxFPS","maxFPS","useMaxFPSBk","maxFPSBk","vsync","RenderScale"}) do print(n,C_CVar.GetCVar(n)) end

Restore a recorded 120 FPS cap

Puts maxFPS back to 120. That is only an example: type whatever value you wrote down before tuning, not 120 because we said so.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console maxFPS 120

Reset one setting to the game's default

Asks the game for its default maxFPS and sets just that one setting back to it (swap in another name to reset a different setting). A default is not always what you had before, so if you wrote your old value down, type that instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run local n="maxFPS"; local d=C_CVar.GetCVarDefault(n); if d then C_CVar.SetCVar(n,d) end

Balanced starting profile

Native resolution, 100% render scale, 60 FPS while playing and 30 in the background, with combat effects kept readable.

FPS, frame pacing and heat

Raise the cap only if your monitor and real frame rate make it worthwhile.

Test 90 FPS foreground / 30 background

Turns on both FPS caps: 90 while you are playing, 30 when the game is in the background. A cap cannot make a struggling PC reach 90; it just stops a fast one working harder and hotter than it needs to.

4 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console useMaxFPS 1
/console maxFPS 90
/console useMaxFPSBk 1
/console maxFPSBk 30

Turn the foreground cap off properly

Switches the foreground FPS cap off with its real switch, useMaxFPS 0. The old tip of setting maxFPS 0 is a guess; this is the actual switch, and your stored maxFPS number stays put for when you turn the cap back on.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console useMaxFPS 0

Disable Target FPS for a controlled test

Turns off Target FPS, a separate feature that is not the same thing as the FPS cap. Leave it as you found it unless it is muddying a before-and-after test; note its state first and put it back afterwards.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console useTargetFPS 0

Test VSync disabled

Turns the game's VSync off. It can feel more responsive but may show tearing, so compare it with your monitor and driver settings rather than assuming off is better.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console vsync 0

Enable VSync if tearing distracts

Turns the game's VSync back on if tearing bothers you. If you wrote down a different starting value, that is your real undo; no VSync choice is best for every monitor and driver.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console vsync 1

If FPS is still too low

Lower shadows and water first. Render scale is the last resort.

Lower-cost graphics experiment

Drops shadows and water to Low, turns ambient occlusion off, and lowers view distance, environment detail and ground clutter; the settings menu shows those three as 4, 4 and 2. Try one change at a time in the spot that was slow and keep only what actually helps.

6 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.

Try 85% render scale (last resort)

Sets render scale to 0.85, which is 85% in each direction and about 72% as many pixels to draw. Only use a value your Render Scale slider actually offers, and treat it as a last resort because it softens the picture.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RenderScale 0.85

Return to 100% render scale

Puts render scale back to 1 (100%) after the 85% test. If you started somewhere other than 100%, type your recorded value instead.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RenderScale 1

Keep combat cues visible

Healers need to see ground effects. Keep these on.

Preserve readable combat cues

Keeps projected textures on and particles at Medium so you can still see what is on the floor. Turning either off is a classic FPS-macro trick that can hide combat cues a healer needs.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.

Antialiasing

Try the cheap image-based option before expensive MSAA.

Antialiasing: None

Turns off both kinds of antialiasing (MSAAQuality and ffxAntiAliasingMode) so you can see how much they cost you. Write both values down first and put both back afterwards.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console MSAAQuality 0
/console ffxAntiAliasingMode 0

Antialiasing: FXAA Low test

Turns MSAA off and switches on FXAA Low (ffxAntiAliasingMode 1), the cheap way to smooth jagged edges. Compare it with None: you are trading a bit of blur for smoother edges.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console MSAAQuality 0
/console ffxAntiAliasingMode 1

Test 8x texture filtering

Sets textureFilteringMode 4, which is 8x anisotropic filtering (5 is 16x). It sharpens distant ground seen at an angle; it is not guaranteed to be free, so check your frame rate and put it back if it costs you.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console textureFilteringMode 4

Raid profile

Lower settings that switch on only in raids.

Optional lower-cost Raid profile

Turns on the separate Raid profile (RAIDsettingsEnabled 1) and gives it lighter settings for group content: Low shadows and water, Fair particles, projected textures on, ambient occlusion off, draw sliders showing 4/4/2, and High textures. If Fair particles hide something you need to see, bump them back to Medium in the Raid tab.

Go back to the Base profile

Switches the Raid profile off so the game uses your Base settings everywhere again. It does not reset the Raid values themselves; they are just not in use.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console RAIDsettingsEnabled 0

Responsiveness and latency

Input feel and network delay are separate from frame rate.

Optional cast on key down

Sets ActionButtonUseKeyDown 1 so your abilities fire when you press the key instead of when you let go, which can feel a touch snappier. Bars and addons that set their own useOnKeyDown behaviour can ignore it, and it does nothing for ping or FPS.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console ActionButtonUseKeyDown 1

Check whether SpellQueueWindow exists

Prints your current SpellQueueWindow value and changes nothing. We could not confirm from the Forever UI files that this setting exists or what it does here, so if it prints nil, leave it alone.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("SpellQueueWindow",C_CVar.GetCVar("SpellQueueWindow"))

Ask the game what SpellQueueWindow does

Asks the game for its own help text on SpellQueueWindow and prints it, changing nothing. If nothing comes back, the setting is not there and you can stop here.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run for _,v in ipairs(ConsoleGetAllCommands()) do if v.command:lower()=="spellqueuewindow" then print(v.command,v.help) end end

Try a 300 ms spell queue (only if it exists)

Sets SpellQueueWindow to 300 ms. Only try it if the game confirmed the setting exists and you are coming down from a bigger value to chase a specific casting problem: it cannot lower your ping, and too small a window leaves gaps between casts, so compare and put it back if it feels worse.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console SpellQueueWindow 300

Read home and world latency

Prints your home and world latency in milliseconds, the same numbers the game's own performance indicator uses. It is one snapshot, not an average, and it changes nothing.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run local _,_,h,w=GetNetStats(); print("Home",h,"ms; World",w,"ms")

Renderer

See which graphics API you are running.

See your graphics API choices

Prints the graphics APIs your game can use, then which one is running right now and which one gxapi is asking for (they can differ until you restart). Stick with Auto unless you are chasing a real rendering problem, and only pick names the game listed.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/run print("Available:",GetGraphicsAPIs())
/run print("Current:",GetCurrentGraphicsAPI(),"Requested:",C_CVar.GetCVar("gxapi"))

Readability and accessibility

Cooldown numbers, nameplates, a bigger cursor and less screen shake.

Turn on helpful numbers in the default UI

Turns on cooldown countdown numbers, a target-of-target frame, and health and mana text shown as both numbers and percentages (statusText and statusTextDisplay work as a pair). Pure readability, no FPS change; addon frames may do their own thing.

4 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console countdownForCooldowns 1
/console showTargetOfTarget 1
/console statusText 1
/console statusTextDisplay BOTH

Optional enemy nameplates

Shows enemy nameplates, and shows them all the time rather than only in combat. Handy for picking out mobs; not an FPS trick.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console nameplateShowEnemies 1
/console nameplateShowAll 1

A bigger cursor (64x64)

Sets cursorSizePreferred 2, which asks for a 64x64 cursor that is easier to find over a wall of party frames. The other sizes are -1 Default, 0 32x32, 1 48x48, 3 96x96 and 4 128x128; pick one you can find without it covering the thing you want to click.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console cursorSizePreferred 2

Reduce camera and UI shake

Turns camera and UI shake down to a quarter strength (0.25 for both). A comfort setting, not a performance one; put both values back to undo.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console ShakeStrengthCamera 0.25
/console ShakeStrengthUI 0.25

Disable camera and UI shake

Turns camera and UI shake off completely (0 for both). Other effects that bother you may still be there; the Motion Sickness checkbox in Accessibility handles two more camera settings as a pair.

2 lines. Type them one at a time in chat, or paste all into a temporary macro and click it once.
/console ShakeStrengthCamera 0
/console ShakeStrengthUI 0

Use Alternate Screen Effects

Sets overrideScreenFlash 1, the same as ticking Alternate Screen Effects in Accessibility, which tones down screen flashes. It will not remove every uncomfortable effect, but it is the right first switch if flashes bother you.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/console overrideScreenFlash 1

Measure

A one-off reading, not a benchmark. Compare in the same place.

Check your FPS right now

Prints your frame rate right now as a whole number. It is a single snapshot, not an average, so read it in the same spot before and after a change.

Type or paste into chat and press Enter.
/run print("FPS",math.floor(GetFramerate()+0.5))

Commands come from the original guide and were checked against the Forever client's settings code. No frame-rate gain is promised. If the game blocks /run, use the Settings menus instead.

Re-test these on November 4 using the live paladin spellbook, talents, and combat log. Beta data is a plan for testing, not a promise about launch.

Glossary

Paladin words and group shorthand, translated for anyone joining after bedtime.

Add
An extra enemy that joins the fight.
Aggro
An enemy is attacking you. Threat is the score that helps decide whom it attacks.
Aura
A paladin buff you keep active around you. You choose one at a time.
Auto-attack
Your regular weapon swings, which do not spend mana.
Beta cap
The current beta level limit: 30.
BiS
Best in slot for a particular role and situation; beta lists can change.
Blessing
A helpful paladin buff on another player or yourself. One paladin's blessings can replace each other.
Block
Using a shield to reduce damage from a blockable attack.
Bubble
Player shorthand for Divine Shield. Divine Protection is an earlier defensive with different limits.
Cast sequence
A macro that advances through its spell list as you press it.
CC
Crowd control: temporarily limiting what an enemy can do.
Cleanse
The paladin spell that removes friendly poison, disease, and magic effects; learned at 42 in the client data.
Conditionals
Checks in macro brackets that choose targets or actions, such as help or harm.
Consecration
Holy damage on the ground beneath you, with a bonus for the first four enemies in Forever.
Darkspear Raiders
The Horde reputation faction tied to Darkspear Islands.
DoT
Damage over time, applied in repeated ticks.
Downranking
Using an older spell rank; Forever reduces the benefit of ranks far below your level.
Echo
Twist of Light's stored effect of a replaced Seal, used on your next melee attack.
Era
Classic Era. Advice tagged era has not been confirmed for Forever.
Focus
A saved second target. Focus macro targeting exists in the client UI but still needs a beta test.
Forbearance
A temporary restriction after certain paladin defensives that prevents using other affected defensives.
Forever
Blizzard's Classic-based game on a modern client, launching November 4, 2026.
GCD
Global cooldown: the short shared pause triggered by many abilities.
Holy Power
A Holy talent that adds critical chance. It is not a separate spendable resource in this guide.
HoT
Healing over time, such as a priest's Renew.
Judgement
The spell that unleashes an effect based on your active Seal without consuming that Seal in Forever.
Legacy
Account progression that earns points each character can spend on perks.
LoS
Line of sight: a clear view needed between you and the target.
Mouseover
The unit beneath your pointer, which a macro can target without changing your selected target.
Mp5
Mana restored every five seconds.
OOM
Out of mana. Say it before the next pull.
Pre-raid
Gear or preparation available before raiding; not a promise that every old item is unchanged.
Proc
An effect that triggers when its conditions and chance allow.
Pull
Starting a fight, often by bringing enemies toward the group.
Pushback
Damage delaying a spell you are casting. It differs from an interrupt that locks a spell school.
Seal
A short paladin self-buff that changes attacks and the effect of Judgement.
Talented
A Legacy perk that can award talent points up to five levels earlier, without raising the 51-point ceiling.
Taunt
An ability that forces an enemy to attack you briefly; paladins access it through Seal of Fury and Judgement.
Threat
How much attention your actions build with an enemy. Players in PvP choose their own targets.
Wipe
The group dies. A good time for water and a shorter next pull.
